Dec 24, 2011My netbook crashed luckly I have an external cd rom drive, and the recovery discs. How do I get the netbook working again though. What are the steps I need to take.

Reinstalling Windows 7 Starter To Netbook
Aug 1, 2010At my first installation of Windows 7 to my netbook there were 2 language options: Turkish & English Today I decided to reinstall Windows 7 from, umm what you call, the partition where is located Windows 7 setup files, the hidden part of the HDD. I pressed F11, it didn't worked. Googled it and I'm right, it is F11 for Casper's netbooks.
Then I tried F8, then reinstall Windows 7 (which does not exists on my desktop PC interestingly), and I installed it without problem. Even it backuped the old files. And didn't touched some folders under C. But it is not clean installation as you can see it backuped the old files, didn't touched some folders under C, and the most inportant part is that now it is Turkish! Where is my English Windows 7?
I want to ask how can I start this Windows setup which is hidden at the HDD? Is there something like Linux distro and app to start it. I have USB sockets but not CD/DVD/etc... hardware.

1. once i install either upgrade, how do i restore to out-of-the-box state incase it screws up in the future?
2. many "installing windows 7 to a netbook" videos show disk part on usb drives and putting it on a usb and booting into it, can i go with "custom" installation from windows and reach a successful finish without booting into setup from bios?

Starter On Asus 1005HA Netbook
Dec 30, 2009Bought my partner the Asus 1005HA for Xmas, and it runs pretty well. May upgrade ram, but it works.
The only minor issue I have experienced is that the small magnifying glass that should come up on the second entry when searching in start menu (the one that says 'see more results' after the initial search in the 'search programs' box) is a blank box with no icon. Small change... but rather than rebuild all icons for this small issue is there another way around it? She can live with it... but I would like the magnifying glass there.

Dec 10, 2009Im giving a new netbook as a gift but it comes with windows 7 starter. Is there a reason for not upgrading to Home Premium due to ram, etc? Ive heard starter is recommended for net-books but its pretty much stripped isn't it?
Also, Is there a way of doing the upgrade through the Windows anytime upgrade but using a MSDN retail home premium key? I ask this because it sounds easier to do that way since it doesn't have a DVD drive.
Windows 7 Starter Crashing On Acer Netbook - Should Upgrade To Windows 7
Dec 27, 2011This problem started a week ago, when the Acer Aspire One 532h would not boot. Eventually, even restoring it using the partition failed. I have ordered the Acer recovery discs which will restore it to Win 7 starter. But yesterday, just on a whim, I turned on the netbook and was able to restore it successfully. I then installed Webroot SecureAnywhere Essentials and have run numerous scans that found no threat - so this does not appear to be malware. (The unit had avast! free AV before this trouble started.) I then spent hours installing Win 7 updates using the Windows Update utility on the Acer. However, near the end of the Win updates, Windows crashed and the screen went black again. When this happens, the unit's power stays on; this is not a fan/overheating problem, I don't think.
This a.m., the Acer booted successfully, and I then uninstalled Office and installed Open Office. The unit then "blacked out" again. During this time, I also tried to install Java, since I had been getting a pop-up that it needed to be updated. Java would not install successfully, and the Acer then started "blacking out" several more times. I was finally able to boot it in Safe Mode to turn it off. But it took several attempts.
Rather than running the recovery discs from Acer for Windows 7 Starter, I am considering upgrading to Win 7. Can anyone tell me if this might solve this problem? Or should I just proceed to order an external drive to run the recovery discs?

Eversince then i got most of my doubt solve.I just bought a Sony Vaio Y series come with Windows 7 Starter.I got a bad deal form Malaysia giving windows 7 stater and 320gb hd, whereas S'pore giving Windows 7 home premiun and 500hd. Anyway i like the design and portability of this model.I got a Year Warranty, But i'm wanted to upgrade it to Windows 7 Ent. and also wanted to upgrade my ram to 4GB max. my existing one is 2GB. but i afraid this would void the warranty.Let get my question i wanted to update to Windows 7 Ent with out and not keeping my starter. but i afraid of driver issue, i plan to boot by USB setup.

Nov 26, 2011I just got my first computer in place i installed win 7 on it and everything went smooth, but then i realized i had by misstake installed the 32bit version..so i checked the SSD, which is the only kind of storage drive i have right now, and for some reason the installation had made an partition called system drive or something on 100mb. the stupid thing is that it was nothing on it?? windows was still on C:? anyway , after many minutes of thinking i decided to just reinstall windows over the old one and so i did. it runned smooth and went perfect, i checked the preferences of my computer and as planned i now had the 64 bit version but 30Gb was lost on my SSD? i discovered that the old windows was still there, in the windows.old folder... i didnt think about much so i'd just pressed delete...

Nov 8, 2012I started watching an OTA recording with WMC7 and about 2 minutes into it WMC7 stopped. A message came up saying it stopped & had options to restart WMC or go online (which appeared to send info to MS) and a 3rd option I don't recall. I just restarted & everything worked just fine.
I looked at event logs & found this. I did a search for that ntdll.dll but could not find a definitive answer to what caused the problem. The typical comments were to reboot or reinstall software. Is there anything from this listing that tells or hints at what caused WMC to stop?

Windows Partition Manager Crashed
Oct 9, 2012I have a 1TB HDD (internal) And its divided into 3 partitions and while shrinking 1 partition from the partition manager of windows itself .. It got hanged up.. I waited 30 minutes but it didn't responded than i closed it forcibly and When i restarted the system That partition got vanished from my computer and was converted into raw part... It got my engineering projects and my freelance projects i used to do for $$ .. Almost 250$ is at ledge.. And my school projects aswell.. But those things matter to me.. recover all DADA Possible.. I'm ready to shell out some $$ aswell on premium softs aswell But i want that to be back...

This morning when turning it off, it started to update with the usual screen saying not to turn it off or unplug. I went out to do some stuff, and when I came back my laptop was turned off so I assumed the installation had finished. However when I pressed the power on button the laptop turned on, it was still how I had left it installing updates. However it seemed to be making no progress whatsoever. It was still on 1 of 60 updates. I left it for a while, but I needed to take it home and seen as it wasn't doing anything I held the power on/off button to power down the laptop to take it home. When home the laptop would refuse to boot to windows, and the screen would just go black. I tried to start the laptop in safemode, but again it wouldn't load. I performed startup repair but it said the problem couldn't be fixed. I then performed a system restore, however it also said that could not be performed. However after clicking okay, windows loaded up and prompted me to log in. Upon which I am on the computer now with no problems, a contradictory message came up saying that the system restore had been succesful. I'm now worried that there still could be some problem that might arise when I close down my computer and need to start it up the next time, in addition it is wanting me to install updates and prompting me to restart my computer. Does anyone have any advice on how I can ensure that the computer does not have the same problems again when updating, and in addition how can I make sure that there are no problems waiting in the computer to surface again and it is fixed?

Sep 12, 2012I am writing this windows safe mode.Cannot get computer to boot in reg mode. Sat for 40 minutes, with message "please wait while windows configures"Am running windows 7, 64 bit home, Dell Inspiron 570 It started yesterday when it downloaded updates for Windows. After the restart, the computer screen looked strange and could not open any programs. Went to "start" and re-booted, same thing happened again. I again went to start, this time it came up with 2 errors. (wish I had wrote them down) but said something about windows cannot find such and such. (sorry) Anyway, clicked on the "X" and windows came up again, but nothing would open. Had to hard boot as the start button would not even work.Rebooted into safe mode and have tried to return to a previous restore point. Seems I don't have any. So can't do that. I did go go to the recent installed windows updates and deleted them. But will not let me change the settings as in: Don't install updates automatically. I don't know if it is trying to install those over and over again. I tried to get it to come up again with the errors, but no such luck, it just sits with the blue welcome screen, then the "please wait"

It will now no longer run windows, offer a boot menu or anything. Today our older unit running Vista Home Premium did an auto update and we now have the same issue. Sadly with the O/S and with Microsoft "stellar" customer service. I am running Norton with all the current updates and i am sure it is not a virus.

Dec 21, 2011So about 2 hours ago on my PC. I was playing WoW and had a hard crash and lock up. So I restarted my PC. Everything seemed fine. Just a mysterious crash. So I went on to updating my graphics drivers since it had been on my mind to do so. About half way into the update my desktop then crashed again. Only this time it cannot even get windows 7 64 bit to start up.Then I ran the Start up Repair program. I get a message that it cannot repair it automatically.On a history note. This PC has been pretty good to me. A few months back I had a bad run in where my RAM wasnt being read correctly and a simple re-docking fixed that. That was solved on this web forum as well. I don't know if its connected. Just a reference on history.Other then that I'm not exactly sure how to go about on fixing this. I've never had a problem where even Windows wont boot up. *Safe Mode does start up* Just not sure what to do.BSOD data is attached. I tried running perfmon / report in safe mode but I got an error.
