Document Keep Changing Its Sort By Setting
Mar 14, 2012i got weird problem when opening my documents, the sort by setting keep changing whenever i change a sort by setting in a folder in my document.

Force Globally "Sort By File Type" Setting?
Apr 11, 2012Yes, I've tried several things on-line listed elsewhere but, everyone else has no idea what they are talking about.
Essentially there are folder types. I don't care about changing the types or whatever, I'd actually rather keep them. I just want Windows 7 to force the option to sort by file type in ANY folder, no matter what type.
It's a pain because when I right-click to sort the files, it is not even in the list and I have to click more and add it to the list, and once I click more, there's about 10 billion useless organization options and I have to dig way down to find the "file type" (which seems like the most important/useful to me).

Jan 7, 2012I have just installed a Netgear WN3000RP Wireless range extender and Netgear N300 Wireless USB Adaptor. The USB Adaptor shows as having WPA2-PSK Security but the Extender only shows as having WPA-PSK Security. This is probably something I did when installing. Is there any way to alter the security setting on the extender or do I need to reinstall it.

Sep 23, 2010With my Windows 7 Pro 32bit laptop(fully updated) I have issues with copy and paste. When I copy text from a file/document and then paste it into another file/document I have one of three things happen. One it will copy the text correctly, though if I press enter to go to a new line its as if the clipboard was emptied because I cannot paste again, two it will not paste anything as if I didn't copy before, or three it will paste a screenshot of what is currently on my screen into the document.If it does copy and paste correctly then when I open a new file or folder, the clipboard will empty so I can't paste the same thing into two different documents unless both documents were open when I fist copied the text.This issue also occurs whe trying to copy/cut files and move them to a new/different directory(if the paste location is not already open then the clipboard appears to empty).

Jul 8, 2012This all started whenever I wanted to change my text size different by changing my DPI settings. What I did was right click, go to screen resolution, and clicked on "Make text and other items larger or smaller". From this I changed it to 100% from 125%. I noticed it had changed my font size to the 100%. It then made everything SUPER small when I changed my theme settings.Whenever I right click and go into personalization settings, I do the usual customizing to my likings. Since I want to save the theme, I do so by naming it, blah. Now I want to use the blah theme by click on it, and I do so. Everything is fine and dandy until I right click my desktop to refresh(out of habit). This is the before and after of the font sizes.

My workaround was to set a custom DPI setting, log off like it prompts me to, then changing it back to 100%, again prompting to do so. It is so annoying to do so.

Jan 18, 2010this function (sort by file Extension) didn't add to windows 7 , So when I use xp I used small free tool called cpext but when I try to add it with windows 7 nothing happen So I need this tool or any alternative do the same job (add option to sort by extension)

Oct 24, 2012I had Windows 7 Home Premium put on my HP Pavilion a6500f last week. I had this same problem with Vista 64-bit but not with Windows XP. I have my file "Sort by" set to Name; Ascending but when I open a file it always moves to the end position when I close it. As an example say I have a folder named Book A. Inside that folder are files named Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3, and Chapter 4 in that order. If I open and edit Chapter 2 when I close it the files are now in this order: Chapter 1, Chapter 3, Chapter 4, and Chapter 2. How do I make the files stay in the proper sort order? It's very irritating to have to move files back into their correct order every time.

The only thing on this hard drive is music. In Windows XP, I could sort by name and show in groups. This way everything was kept alphabetical, all the �A� bands were under �A �, all the �B� bands were under �B�� With Windows 7 I get gigantic chunks of A-H, I-P and Q-Z. I have over nearly 600 folders on this drive. Grouping all those folders into 3 giant blocks is nothing short of useless. Is there any way at all to sort like XP?

Change Numeric Sort Order For Desktop?
Jan 15, 2012I save a lot of folders on my desktop. For the most part they are sorted alphabetically, from A to Z, with no problem.
For the last several months, if something is named numerically, they are saved backwards. In other words, if I have files named 001, 002, 003 instead of showing up in 001-002-003 sort order, they show up in 003-002-001 sort order.
How do I change this back to the original 001-002-003 sort order?
Windows Installer Starts At Random Sort Of
Oct 27, 2011Something must have gone haywire installing blackberry desktop 6.1 software or windows installer is going nuts but I really don't know where to begin. I built a computer from a bare bones kit. It is running windows 7. It has been running just fine for months now. But all of a sudden I think *THINK, that when I click on any video file on my computer the windows installer starts and says it is trying to install blackberry desktop 6.1 software. Then it has some not found error and never finishes installing and keeps restarting the installer. I have not found any other programs that cause this. Only video related things. I do have BB desktop software installed and it runs just fine and backs up my phone regularly so I didn't think it was a problem with the blackberry install, which by the way, was done months ago also. I watched task manager processes when this happens and all I see is msiexec.exe and msiexec.exe*32 pop up in the list. Nothing about blackberry or anything.

Nov 26, 2011I recently had lots of bsod. At the beginning, it was only when I was playing Deus Ex so I supposed it was because of the graphic card that was too hot, but it's now happening for no reason. Actually, the last ones I got happened when I was just watching streaming videos. On Vimeo I think, but I don't believe it comes from the website. Is it possible that the graphic card reacts weirdly and makes my computer crash when I'm only using it to read videos on internet ? I'm not even sure this is the reason why it crashed. I watch lots of videos.It seems that this is all kind of BSODs. Last week, I had two irql_not_less_or_equal involving disk.sys andfilesys.dll. Today I had two other BSODs, notably one system service exception involving fltmgr.
In addition to that, my Windows doesn't save the minidumps anymore. The last one I got are from 9/14. I can send those to you if you want to, even though I'm not sure it's really useful since they are kind of outdated.I have Windows Ultimate x64 SP2, I mounted (is that the correct word ?) the computer myself approximatively one year and a half ago and didn't have any issue for a long time, I believe Windows 7 was the only OS on this computer and I don't recall re-installing it, but I'm not really sure, is there any way to verify this in the system ?
Files Doesn't Automatically Sort By Name In Folder?
Sep 16, 2010I just bought a new 1TB drive. On my previous drive, everytime i (i.e) copy/paste files to that directory, it automatically sort itself out by Name. Now, it does sort by name but not if i don't click refresh or navigating to another folder and coming back to that directory.I've set it to sort by name. Is there something that's missing?
