I have a Dell Inspiron PC that I got a few months ago, and everything's been going pretty well. I've had one or two BSODs, but nothing major. Now, though, I'm faced with kind of an issue.Whenever I leave the computer alone for some time, it crashes. It used to be where it would only do it sometimes if I leave it alone for hours (like overnight), but today it crashed while left unattended for just around 4 hours. When it crashes, the computer seems to be on as the power and busy lights are on (the busy light blinking occasionally), but there's no output on the monitor. I can't use the keyboard or mouse to 'wake it up', so I have to hard reset it with the Power button. After the hard reset, it powers up, but it displays that there's a "Keyboard Failure", and continues to boot up. I restart it again at this point, and then it boots up as usual. The keyboard is responsive, and it asks me if I want to boot into Windows normally. I choose to do so, and it runs normally.
I recently had a PSU failure and replaced with a new unit. System now powers up.
However Windows is now randomly locking up. No BSOD, no warning, it just locks and stops responding. No screen corruption either. The only solution is to power off. It never once did this prior to the PSU failure.
The lockups happen randomly, maybe after 20 mins, maybe an hour and have occurred when:
Internet browsing Running a large Backup Installing the new SP1
There is nothing in the event logs that suggests anything happening prior to the lock up. There are no heat issues.
To try to isolate the problem, I have: Run Memtest86 for hours with no problems and also the Windows memory test, all fine.
Run Prime95 for a while again with no problems. I am gonna do some more tests later in Prime to check cache specifically. Reinstalled Windows on different a Hard Disk and still get exactly the same problem.
I am now coming to the conclusion that the PSU failure may have caused some sort of damage either to the motherboard or processor. I am going to return the new PSU to the supplier and get a replacement sent out just in case the new PSU is at fault.
A while back my computer crashed when playing ARMA2. I was playing and suddenly my screen turned black but the sound kept playing. I did a hard reboot and i got a Disk Boot failure. I decide to do another hard reboot and the computer turned on normally. After this i haven't had any problems any more.
Until yesterday when i installed a new game (Dishonored) A minute into the game the same thing happened as with the ARMA2 crash. Screen turns black but sound keep playing so i did a hard reboot. I got a Disk Boot failure but after a hard reboot it is gone again. But unlike with the ARMA2 crashes this happens every time i try to play dishonoured. I reinstalled the game on a different partition of the same drive and it stilled happened although this time it let me play for about 5min. But i don't think it had anything to do with reinstalling it on different partition it seems to randomly crash within 1-5 min.
I check a few other games and they don't seem to give any problems. I also did a chkdisk of the drive the game is installed on but no problems where found. I also did a memtest86 but also no errors.
My Windows is installed on a SSD but the game itself is installed on a HDD. don't know if that matters but i thought i just add that.
the last couple times I've sent my laptop to hibernate I have had driver power state failure BSODs. I usually have some programs like Chrome and Spotify open. I rarely shut down so I'm unsure if the problem is specifically related to hibernation.I have attached minidumps and updated my profile info with hardware specs.
Suddenly my Windows 7 dell XPS says Keyboard Failure during boot sequence. I can't "strike the F2 key to continue or F2 to run the settup utility" because the keyboard isn't recognized. I put in my windows system repair disk that I made few months ago, but still get the same error.I swap out the keyboard for another but still get the same error.
i got a big problem with my cherry keyboard Cherry - eVolution SIRIUS XT Wireless MultiMedia Desktop
all hotkeys worked properly until my system crashed due to some OC. now all other keys work but hotkeys (play, mute, forward, backward, volume up, volume down, calculator, e-mail, home and sleep) which are all hotkeys my keyboard has. they were all global setted so i was able to skip tracks while musicplayer was in tray on default settings. i tried to reinstall windows plug&play-drivers
Tonight while on my PC using Facebook, I got an unexpected graphics card crash. My computer stopped and I had to turn it off via the shutdown button on the case. When I restarted my computer it was slow and a bit sluggish. When I started it up I had a strange occurrence where my mouse and keyboard stopped working, the mouse has a blue light on the scroll button but I was unable to move the pointer. My keyboard was completely disconnected with no functionality at all. Even when I changed it to a different USB slot it was not working/ Again, I had to turn it off via the shutdown button.
Quote: A very punctual Mozilla is set to launch the latest version of its browser on January 31, 2012 as per plan. The new version is a traditional Firefox silent update infused with all the desired components, particularly the disabling of incompatible add-ons and advancement of the compatible ones. Add-ons from Firefox 4 or later will be compatible with Firefox 10. Read More at : Firefox 10 Download Available. Silent Update In The Package. - CrazyEngineers Download Firefox 10
When I go to the root directory of my partition D: and enter CACLS * /T then the scanning of all my files and folders for Security settings starts. After a while the process reaches the (hidden, system) folder "System Volume Information" ...and abort silently.I think this is clearly a bug. CACLS should either skip or write a comment "folder inaccessible".Aborting is a no-go.
When I start IE9 I can hear two voices simultaneously saying something about clearing the cache. I have removed IE9 and re-installed it, and cleared the home page tabs list, but the annoyance still remains! It is intermittent and never occurs with Firefox or Google Chrome. Any ideas on how to return IE9 to a "silent" startup?
I read through a few threads with similar topics but the issues were either not quite the same and/or resolved comparatively easily. I am trying to repair a 1.5 year-old HP Pavilion running Windows 7 Home Premium 64. This machine is used as the main office computer in a small doctor's office. In spite of my warnings, anti-virus software was not installed until it was too lateThere was a major issue about seven months ago that required another company to repairThe problem is explorer.exe will not run. Double-clicking a shortcut on the desktop, clicking the text name of a program from the Start menu, and even in the cmd results in the same response, a dialog box pops up stating windows explorer has stopped working.
windows is checking for a solution to the problem. followed by another box stating windows explorer is restarting. But the requested application never starts. I have run the Ultimate Boot CD 4 Win, replaced the hard drive and cloned all data, run numerous registry scans, malware scans and antivirus scans. Initially removing over 1500 virus/malware hits and over 1400 registry errors. But the main problem persists, explorer.exe won't open programs.
i'm trying to install at bios and easy tune 6, but for some reason it comes up saying open driver failure, or open driver handle failure. what do i do?
"Open device failure/ open driver handle failure" message when installing gigabyte utilities. The install fails. Does anyone know what might be causing this message?
A Compaq Presario CQ62 Laptop running windows 7. I accidentally spilled wine on it and the keyboard no longer worked.I purchased a Microsoft wired desktop 600, but it has no function keys. On the original keyboard I used Fn E12 to connect to a network, but with the new keyboard I can no longer connect to a network. There must be a workaround?
my daughter pressed a couple of keys earlier and now my laptop keyboard isnt working properly. It is really strage because a few keys are working but not in thier usual function. My partner logged out so now i am sat at a login screen and cant key in a password. The on screen keyboard is behaving the same way which is very odd! Any suggestions? I have only had it 3 weeks and have had no problems it's been great. My mrs said she was trying to type in a website and windows kept popping up when she typed, and then she logged out.
My computer is currently stuck on a black screen with a blinking cursor in the top left hand corner. I tried rebooting from a bootable disk and from a bootable flash drive and neither one worked. My machine is an HP Pavilion Elite HPE-110f. I am running on the 64 bit version. Has anyone run into this problem before and if so, is there a solution I can try on my own or am I doomed to take it to a tech?
I've had a notebook (asus N51V with a T9550 and 4 GB of RAM with Windows 7 Ultimate) for over three years and I've not had any significant problem until a couple of days ago. Now, after it has completelly booted and I've opened some applications (for example Eclipse, Windows updates or even no applications) it appears the BSOD with the page_fault_in_nonpaged_area STOP: 0x00000050 and other information. I've managed to get the minidump and to do a "photo" of the BSOD with my cell. I'm attaching the minidump, but if someone need it I can put also the photo.I've not added any new hardware for over a year and I've not installed any significant and heavy software in the last couple of months, so I do not know what can it be. To be sure I've also done the memtest86 an it did not found any error.
i`ve just purchased a hp deskjet 3055a wirelesss printer.its set up to a home network with 3 pc`s using it 1 is xp home, 2 is win 7 hp 32bit and my main machine is win 7 hp 64bit.the last machine is giving me a problem it does not always turn on the print spooler service if i try turning it on in admin services it will not, only by restarting will it work the other machines on the network work fine.
whenever I try using IE9 to download something (so far just a 634mb mod for arma 2) it crashes after you do the "click here to download" , it correcly goes to filefront but then crashes before anything else happens.
my windows oftenly crash everytime i refreshes the desktop for more than 3 times or open a larger memory folder.(eg. documents or the C:drive) this is the details of the crashes.
first of all i would like to excuse for my rusty english... passed some time since i last wrote something completely in english ;-)
i'm using the x86 version of build 7000 and i'm very fascinated of how it works already in this beta-stage. but i have a strange crashing-issue from time to time that does not allow me further testing.
from time to time all of my usb-ports seem to block everything: my usb-soundcard stops working, my wireless-adapter, my external hd, everything that's plugged-in into an usb-port stops working.
it happens when i'm using my soundcard, videocard or both of them: playing games, watching dvds, browsing Internet, listening to music, etc.
when i'm trying to reboot, the os will stuck in the logging-off-screen 'cause it's trying to play the logoff-sound over my soundcard..
i wonder why my civ always crash?i use 550 gtx ti and 16gb of ram. also 3770k i7.well, i use gpu meter, and it's reached almost 70 celcius everytime i play.
Running Windows 7 Pro 32 bit, when some of my programs started crashing, mostly explorer.exe, but it would restart itself and then run fine for awhile. It got progressively worse, I ran a update and scan with MSE, and it all came up green. Then I rebooted, and that was the last time I saw my desktop. It booted back up, and prompted me to run a chkdsk, so I let it run, it scanned my OS drive.
My laptop crashed the other day during a windows update and now all of a sudden I have no sound and my task manager is complete blank! I have no idea what is happening. Here are a few images of me trying to get sound back on and what the task manager looks like .

Task manager not working: http://i.imgur.com/QCE0s.jpg EDIT: I have just found another problem. My USB and CD ports cannot read any hardware plug into them.
Also when trying to install Malwarebytes I was confronted by this: http://i.imgur.com/PItYw.jpg I waited for it to load for a while, but there wasn't any change.
I just got a new HP laptop running Intel Core i7 and Windows 7 Home Premium. I'm also using IE 9. A lot of times when I have a tab open in IE9, and open a new tab, either by clicking on the new tab, or a link inside the current page opens the new tab when I click it - when I'm done with what I needed and go to close the new tab, I get an error message 'Internet Explorer Has Stopped Working' IE freezes until I close the error window. It doesn't happen every time a new tab is opened - I just can't narrow it down to what is actually causing it.
ntoskrnl.exe+4b16cc seems to be my issue. My PC only crashes when I have my 32" HD TV Plugged in.Here is my .dmp file for you to check out! Only just reformatted, this wasn't happening before also.
I cant run any 32bit exe. I can run sfc /scannow and I can run any virus software. When my computer boots it says that all my startup 32 bit programs have crashed and I cant open anything unless it is 64 bit. Again I cant run virus software unless it is only 64 bit and I cant run sfc /scannow. It stops at 10%. want to do a system restore or factory reset both of which I dont think will fix this anyway and I dont have the windows 7 cd.
when I turn my pc on, it gets me to the login screen. but the text and many elements are missing like icons.sometimes the guest account has a password but i never put one. i ran diagnostics and found harddrive problems. startup repair doesnt work and no system restores because it was relatively new so i never made one.
I got a new laptop, an LG A550, with an i5 and Geforce 640M two weeks ago things were running ok until yesterday, i was playing online and suddenly the flash game crashed. i thought it was a flash player problem, so i updated it, and problems began: not only stills with the game not loading, but also i had most web pages not loading properly. taking lots of time to load and when it happens it shows an text only creepy version of it that happens to facebook, kongragate and other sites i guess uses flash, but google and gmail and this forum works ok then i tried to update the java, but that bug makes me not be able to download that update.
I got mad and tried system restore. All attempts failed. Finally i tried to restore the whole system to factory conditions, to get rid of ALL softwares i had installed in this two weeks. when completed, guess what... the issue CONTINUES!
what should i do now? could be a problem with the files at the D partition? a hardware problem? or some rare hard time register bug?
About 20% of the time, my Win7 Home Premium 32-bit laptop system BSD crashes when I'm trying to put it into Sleep mode; the rest of the time Sleep mode works perfectly. It always crashes in exactly the same place: In TDI.SYS caused at location TDI.SYS+50E0. The Bug Check string is: "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL", with a code of 0x0000000A. I can detect no pattern whatsoever as to when it crashes versus when it doesn't.
