New Email Account: New AOL E-mail Account, Clicked 'Add E-mail Account' At The Bottom Of My 'Windows Live Account'
Aug 24, 2009I have a Windows Live Mail account and a Yahoo account and they both show up on the left hand side of my Window Live Mail account so I can choose which account I want to use or, for example, which inbox to look in. At the bottom, also on the left hand side of my Windows Live Mail account, it shows 'Add e-mail account', which is what I want to do with a new 'AOL' account and I want it to show on the left hand side like the two other accounts.
So I made a new AOL e-mail account, clicked 'Add e-mail account' at the bottom of my 'Windows Live Account', then I put in my new AOL e-mail account and password where it showed me. Then I clicked next.
The next page was all about my email server. When I did this before with a new e-mail account, it was all filled out automatically for me, but this time, all the blanks were left open and I have no idea what to fill in. I believe once I have this information, the AOL e-mail account will automatically then show on the left hand pane of my Windows Live Mail account below the other two accounts.
Randomly Created User Account Folder?
Feb 16, 2009About a year ago, I changed my main user account from "Jaime" to "Roggie" on a whim, and everything worked fine. This past weekend, I restarted my computer and when it came back up it had created a new user profile in c:/users/. All my files are still in
"c:/users/jaime/", but now everything loads from "c:/users/roggie". Is there any way to switch it back or am I going to have to recreate all my system settings? And why would it change over a year after I switched the names?
I've already tried createing a second user account called "Jaime" and renaming the current account back to "Jaime" - both resulted in a new folder called "Jaime_02" instead of going back.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
I'm running Home Basic 32bit if thats any use at all.

Sep 24, 2008Permission from who? I'm the only account/admin on my computer. This is not the only time I have received some kind of error message reporting to me I need permission/higher access--it's also happened when I tried to "Immune" my computer from known viruses using Spybot - Search & Destroy.

Nov 10, 2009Up until yesterday lunchtime my email inbox on Windows Mail (I have Vista) showed my old emails as well as my new mails. then suddenly all my old emails disappeared and I can only see new emails from yesterday lunchtime! my emails have vanished - how do I get them back? I use AOL - when I check my AOL via webmail i can still see the old emails so know they exist. so why have they disappeard from Windows Mail?
I have several folders set up on my AOL Windows Mail accont so don't want to have to set up a new windows mail account as I will lose allmy folders. And my account settings are set to "view all mail". even wehn I press "send & receive" none of my old inbox emails are being shown up.

Dec 28, 2009I haven't used Windows mail (only used to read news groups) in some time, when I went to use it this morning I received this error message; Folder could not be opened Windows mail could not open this folder. The possible causes are not the problem. I have 2 gig memory and it was working fine when I only had 1 gig of memory. Disk space, I have over 90 gig of free space.

Mar 23, 2008In my previous email program of choice, Outlook Express, I used to beable to select the "to" function within the email message template and see a display of contacts that included the FOLDERS. In Windows Mail, the same action calls up ALL the contacts and NO folders. ALthough I can select multiple contacts from the Windows Contacts folder and through "action", install them in the "To" pane of an email message, I cannot jump from folder to folder to, for example, select contacts within another folder whom I wish to CC on the same message. The "Action" sequence always generates a new email template, posting any selected contact or contacts to the "To" pane.
I do not wish to create GROUPS and then go through the convoluted process of calling up the group in the "To" pane, and then deleting the ones I don't want. Needless to say, this feature was critical to my email flow and organization. Am I missing something? I have checked every forum and group I can. Others report the same issue without resolution. One forum individual said, "That's the way Windows Mail is".
Admin Account Added Standard User Account Will Not Open
Mar 23, 2008I use a admin account on my computer but when I added standard user account it will not open some web pages for example when I go to my yahoo mail it will show the email but when I click on it, it will not show any text, but when I use the administrator account the web page works fine, I can see and read all emails. Another example is when I go to ask.com and search under the standard user it comes up as a blank page but will show search results under the administrator account. I have windows vista home and 7.0 explorer.

Account Needs Resetting Often In Windows Mail
Apr 30, 2008I have recently guided a friend on a new PC and set it up for him. I created his email account in Windows Mail but after a couple of days send/receive did not download emails though no error was shown, however they were viewable at the ISP's server. As the emails are still at the ISP's server they are not going into another folder. Deleting his account from Windows Mail and setting it up again allowed emails to download but this pattern has to be repeated on a regular basis. The new PC is a Dell 530S O/S Vista Premium, 2GB RAM. May 20, 2010Use Windows Mail in conjunction with that e-mail address for a long time now. Two days ago it suddenly decided that it required me to sign in to be able to retrieve/send my mail. I have entered my username and the correct password in a whole heap of different ways but it just keeps rejecting anything I type in even though I know that they are correct. I have even checked all the settings against my husband's computer and they are the same other than the username and yet he can still use his Windows Mail account but I can't - it is so infuriating considering that I run a business from home and I need access!

I have the admin account enabled, but I would like it to be visiblle on the login screen. The laptop is for a cousin going off to college. I will give him the admin password, but he'll be instructed to use the normal account except when he installs stuff. I want to set the machine up so he has the easy login screen with Administrator and his name as the two choices. How can I get the admin account to show up there?
