New Email Account: New AOL E-mail Account, Clicked 'Add E-mail Account' At The Bottom Of My 'Windows Live Account'
Aug 24, 2009I have a Windows Live Mail account and a Yahoo account and they both show up on the left hand side of my Window Live Mail account so I can choose which account I want to use or, for example, which inbox to look in. At the bottom, also on the left hand side of my Windows Live Mail account, it shows 'Add e-mail account', which is what I want to do with a new 'AOL' account and I want it to show on the left hand side like the two other accounts.
So I made a new AOL e-mail account, clicked 'Add e-mail account' at the bottom of my 'Windows Live Account', then I put in my new AOL e-mail account and password where it showed me. Then I clicked next.
The next page was all about my email server. When I did this before with a new e-mail account, it was all filled out automatically for me, but this time, all the blanks were left open and I have no idea what to fill in. I believe once I have this information, the AOL e-mail account will automatically then show on the left hand pane of my Windows Live Mail account below the other two accounts.
Windows Mail Account Don't Want New Account
Nov 10, 2009Up until yesterday lunchtime my email inbox on Windows Mail (I have Vista) showed my old emails as well as my new mails. then suddenly all my old emails disappeared and I can only see new emails from yesterday lunchtime! my emails have vanished - how do I get them back? I use AOL - when I check my AOL via webmail i can still see the old emails so know they exist. so why have they disappeard from Windows Mail?
I have several folders set up on my AOL Windows Mail accont so don't want to have to set up a new windows mail account as I will lose allmy folders. And my account settings are set to "view all mail". even wehn I press "send & receive" none of my old inbox emails are being shown up.

Apr 30, 2008I have recently guided a friend on a new PC and set it up for him. I created his email account in Windows Mail but after a couple of days send/receive did not download emails though no error was shown, however they were viewable at the ISP's server. As the emails are still at the ISP's server they are not going into another folder. Deleting his account from Windows Mail and setting it up again allowed emails to download but this pattern has to be repeated on a regular basis. The new PC is a Dell 530S O/S Vista Premium, 2GB RAM. The Antivirus/Firewall is F-Secure. The ISP is BT in the UK. This problem never arose with Outlook Express on his old PC. Is there a known issue with Windows Mail that might be causing

May 20, 2010Use Windows Mail in conjunction with that e-mail address for a long time now. Two days ago it suddenly decided that it required me to sign in to be able to retrieve/send my mail. I have entered my username and the correct password in a whole heap of different ways but it just keeps rejecting anything I type in even though I know that they are correct. I have even checked all the settings against my husband's computer and they are the same other than the username and yet he can still use his Windows Mail account but I can't - it is so infuriating considering that I run a business from home and I need access!

May 4, 2009I have a few issues with Windows Mail (Vista) connections. If I'm already connected to the Internet through my ISP software Windows Mail will connect to my mail servers with no problem but if I'm not already connected it will not connect. Internet Explorer and many other programs (even several of my freeware programs) will connect to the Internet using my ISP connection when my PC is not already connected to the internet. I've tried but can't get Windows Mail to connect through my Internet connection.
I ended-up having to setup a Dial-up connection to connect Windows Mail when I'm not already connected to the Internet. It has to be set as the default connection to work but this causes other problems. For the most part it works fine but the Dial-up connection can't turn on my SpeedBand (Turbo mode) because that's embedded in my ISP software. Also, some programs use the Dial-up connection while others use the Internet connection(?)................
Windows Mail Vs. MSN Vs. Outlook Express, Don't Connect
Mar 23, 2008I bought a new home computer with Vista to replace an old one running XP. Outlook Express came with XP, while Vista has Windows Mail instead. I used to be able to set it up to get my MSN mail from within Outlook Express, which I have yet to figure out how to do the same with Windows Mail. I heard that Windows mail cannot take in webmail like MSN. Is that true? Is that is true, then two obvious questions.
1) Why would Microsoft go backward and remove a functionality from newer mail program that comes with the operating system?
2) Both Windows Mail and MSN are Microsoft products, so how can it be possible that they don't connect? Can anyone enlighten me before I throw in the tower and move back to XP?

Lately, when I reply to a message it defaults to being sent from an account which I rarely use, and which is not the same as the account which received the original e-mail. Dec 31, 2008I have just transferred from a Windows XP PC using Outlook Express 6 to Vista PC with Windows Mail. I successfully migrated one email account and it works fine. On a second account I get the windows security box asking for username and password and even when I enter them correctly I get the box again. When I cancel I get the following error message:
