My max display resolution is 1280x800 (fujitsu generic monitor), and it seems I can't see the bottom of the popup where you change/edit signatures. Isn't there supposed to be somewhere in these options where you can click an OK or apply button?
Hi, can anybody advise,i get this popup box only when i plug in a flash drive, or external hard drive, it doesent seem to bother the programs and i cant remove it from the screen untill i remove the external hardrives and then restart the computer i have widows vista premium 32-bit.
Adobe Flash is not working in any of the programs that use it unless I run the program as administrator, then it works fine. However, I do not want to be forever having to run all my programs as administrator because either I have to right click and do it, or set it to run as administrator which means I get the popup from UAC. I didn't have flash installed. I have tried all the solutions offered on the adobe site several times and none of them will work.
Is there a way to set constant UAC popup window positions? It appears in different places on the screen depending on application, for example while starting Total Commander with administrator's right the UAC window appears at the left low corner, Symantec Endpoint Protection - at the middle of the screen's bottom. It's not a big problem of course, but maybe it is possible to fix such behavior?
I just recently got a new motherboard processor etc, and so i had to reinstall vista, well, i decided to go ahead and up to x64 so i backed up my hard drive under my current ultimate32bit and then formatted and installed ultimate64. So i thought i'd do a restore of my drive's backup, so i popped in my install disc, clicked repair comp, clicked restore a backup, chose the backup i wanted, confirmed, then a box popped that said basically, "The windows restore has failed. This backup can be restored on this computer. Please use the correct Windows Recovery Envirnment (x64) WinRE."
Running Windows XP my cousin ended up with an infestation of spyware and adware after AVG ran out and it stopped updating.I installed AVG 8.5 ran a scan, it disinfected winlogon.exe and then blue screened. After a reboot and another scan winlogon.exe was no longer infected but other files were. It seems to have disinfected them. The only thing left is a popup that comes up everytime IE is started. I can't figure out what is causing it. I ran ad aware - it disposed of a few things but he still gets that popup when IE starts.
I have numerous files (Excel format mostly (Office 2007)) that I copied over from a PC running XP Professional. Whenever I update one and then try to save I get a popup that it is trying to save to "c" with the name Copy Of filename. Not what I want but figure I can always rename it, but when I click Save I get a popup telling me "A required permission is not held by the client". I am the only user of this PC and am the adminstrator. I have read thru several post here that talk about UAC and have right clicked on the files and went to the security tab and assigned full rights for every user listed but it still wont let me save the file after making changes
Locate your AVG directory in explorer (can right click of start button and click 'Explore')

Untick 'Hide extensions for know file types'..........
I run a little website which has a popup survey on it. one of my colleagues was just testing it and said that the popup is no longer appearing. On further investigation, her Popup Blocker was on (despite her never changing the settings herself) and the popup was fine. However, our statistics show a dramatic fall in the number of people filling out the survey over the last week, and a high percentage of our customers are IE7 users. My theory is that Microsoft have recently released an IE7 update that resets your Popup Blocker to "on", meaning that no-one can see my survey any more.
Dell Inspiron 1545 notebook running Vista Home Premium. Automatic Updates is "on". I suspect this is not strictly a Vista problem, but the user base may know of a solution. I also suspect the problem is with a Dell-specific service or application but that may be supported by underlying Vista services. I find references to a similar service for HP notebooks. When I got my computer about 6 weeks ago, a transparent popup would appear briefly and then disappear when the caps lock key was toggled. It indicated the new state of the key and an icon was also placed in the Notification Area when the state was "locked". A similar action took place if I toggled the "radio" button (F2) and a battery information window appeared it the "battery" key (F3) was pressed.
That worked for a week or so, then stopped working. I did many searches on The Internet and in the Dell Community Forums for a solution. No joy. Then one day, it mysteriously started working again. It worked for 3 days which spanned several times when the computer went into standby and when it went into hibernation each evening. A series of security updates came down from Microsoft which required reboot. The popups went away and in many more hours of research, I have been unable to find a solution....
I'm running windows Vista on an HP Pavilion. Recently, I went to use my DVD ROM and discovered the icon was missing from "My computer". This happened before with XP, and with XP I removed the appropriate Upper and Lower filters in the registry, restarted, and all was well. I tried this with vista and the upper and lower filters were not present. I ran a system profile and found my drive (HL DT ST DVD RAM GH IOL) was listed as uninstalled.
i have been trying to delete AVG on my computer for a long time, it began when i installed it, then uninstalled it but all files are left and i cant "uninstall" it again because when i look in Add or remove programs it dont appear on the list and when i run setup.exe it wants to install it but i cant install it either because i need a licensekey for it that i dont have. I used to have Unlocker but it dont work on x64 bit systems so i cant use it either. I cant delete the folder because the program is running like 5 progresses on my computer and when i finish any process they start again within seconds...i need space on my computer and the processes is taking much memory so .
I reinstalled my Windows Vista Home Premium, but now it says my key isn't valid. So I kind of ignored it for a while, but now I get that tiny text in the lower-right corner, and the Aero theme is gone. I tried to solve it with that pop up I got. I had to type 9 keys of 6 numbers in my telephone, and I got a key back. That 'woman' on the telephone said we were going to activate my XP?) After that it said my Windows was activated. So I clicked on Close, and I kept getting that popup and messages.
Can password storage program that is safe to download? I tried the free Access Manager download but the popup warning from Microsoft scared me into not running it.
I am using AVG 8.0 free antivirus on my Vista laptop...When I went to the Vista Security center, it said that McAfee antivirus was on...I uninstalled it when I 1st got my laptop so I could use AVG free(it was version 7.5) then....how can McAfee antivirus be on if it's not installed on my laptop??? I check the add/remove programs, and it didn't show up...just wondering...doesn't seem like a big deal, but just making sure..
Recently against my better judgement I installed iTunes on my computer so I could update my daughters iPod. Since that I have discovered programs like Bonjour and Safari which have been installed by the Apple Updater program. Some of these are in my startup group and as I use a lot of resources photo and video editing I decided to uninstall all of them. However in each case a message pops up saying "the computer administrator has set policies to prevent this installation" I have seen a lot of people complaining about similar issues but most most of the solutions involve running programs which are not available in my version of Windows Vista, Home Premium 32-bit.
My computer was wiped clean and now I cannot receive emails in Windows Mail. I have uninstalled AVG 4.8 and SuperSpyware, checked my addresses with RoadRunner. I get the following error message ProtocolPOP3 Port 995 SecureSSL No socket error 10060 error 0x800ccoe.
My windows has the antivirus avast but today when I turned the machine on,I received a message from avast that said my computer was completely in danger because the antivirus was uninstalled!I don't really know the reason, but I don't know what to do. maybe I should call the man that set my pc but meanwhile,am I really in danger with no antivirus? How did the antivirus expired?
I'm trying to install Kasperkey. I have uninstalled AVG however, I get a message that AVG is installed and to remove it before I can proceed. I search the PC for AVG and found one file left and removed. I got the same message that AVG was still installed. I then went into safe mode and did an entire search and location one more folder which was a toolbar and removed that. I still get a message saying AVG is installed and to remove it. What can I do?
.. programs from the right-click menu. How is this done? I still have Spybot showing in the right-click menu and it's long gone. How do I remove it from the menu?
I recently experienced problems with the software for my Dell AIO 966 printer. On advice from the Dell NG's, I uninstalled all of my USB controllers, and rebooted in the expectation that Windows would detect and reinstall them. To a point, this was successful, but now whenever I boot my system, I get the windows "New hardware found"dialogue. Any, and I do mean ANY, mouse clicks in the dialog area at this point result in my mouse and keyboard being totally frozen.
Device Manager reports all the usual stuff, along with 2 "Unknown Device" entries. The only way I can boot my system now is to wait for the Hardware found diaalog, R-Click the taskbar, and kill the dialog from Task Manager. I usually have to kill it 3 times, at which point all is well. I've replaced the Dell printer that started this nonsense with an Epson Workforce 500, and have no printer problems. I'm obviously way over my head here folks.
When I click on "Start" there is a BitTorrent icon. When I first clicked on the icon there was an 'uninstall" optio which I ran, but the icon is still there. It said that BitTorrent was uninstalled but I still can't get rid of the icon. When I try to remove it, I get the "you need permission". When I go to control Panel> Add remove Programs, Bittorrent is not on the list, but how do I get rid iof the icon now??
I get a setup popup sometimes when i right click on a folder or file. The popup says "Installing Acrobat setup files" with a small computer icon to the left and a cancel button down bottom. Also there is a blue status bar in the middle of the popup. Usually i just cancel the popup, but if i let it run the popup starts to install some kind of acrobat files. When done it asks to reboot.
When I first start Vista mail a popup asks me if I want to find my connection on this phone number or should it dial another number. When I click on newsgroups I get the same message and have to answer and when I click back to my inbox I get the popup question again and I have to click it repeatedly. It asks if it should dial another connection that is no longer on the computer. How can I kill this damned message? I switched to Live Mail but it does the same thing with that so I'm back with mail.
I'm getting a com surrogate has stopped working message constantly, suddenly out of the blue today.
I do not have Nero I uninstalled VLC
I upgraded (today) latest Vista Codec package + 64 bit components which I installed 3 days ago and never had an issue. I just started getting the error message today an hour ago out of the blue and I didn't even modify anything on the system nor install any software for a few days. I have Vista Ultimate 64bit with SP1 Refresh 2 (as of 3-4 days ago). I rebooted after uninstalling Divx, VLC and then installed the latest Vista codec pack. Still getting the same error message.
