I am running Vista x64 Ultimate SP2 on my Remote Machine. When I connect to the DVR Machine, through RDC (remote desktop connection)on my local network, I am able to see all the files and open the SuperDVR software. I am unable to see the live video feeds through the RDC. I am able to view any older recordings which are saved as avi files. I am able to make changes to settings in the SUpreDVR software, just not see the live video.
I have windows live messenger and cant figure out how to get video chat to work like in yahoo messenger. I have a web cam installed, it works with yahoo messenger, oovoo messenger but with windows live messenger I have nothing.
when i play a movie or any window with a dynamic movement inside it, i don't see it live when i hover the window in taskbar...for example, when minimizing a media player window, i don't see the video still running in the preview, only when the window is opened i see the video running. so i guess this is set for saving in cpu, but how can i change it? maybe a registry edit?

Windows Live OneCare was ok last night when I turned my computer off, but today says it's out of date, and can't get update to work. Have Vista Home Premium. Saw an error, 0X0400407, haven't been able to find what that error means.
I am unable to access internet live links from Windows Mail. when I try, I get - Internet Explorer has stopped working' 'a problem caused the program to top working correctly' Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available', which of course it does not! The same applies if I click Start / Help and Support - I am unable to access any of the live links under 'Ask Someone'. I have posed this question in microsoft/public/windows/vista/mail but they are unable to help. I am trying to find a solution without having to pay Microsoft ?40+.

I have been using Windows Mail for my Yahoo addresses and by right clicking on the W.M. icon in the programme list above the start button I put a shortcut on to the desktop that has been working very well. Today I have combined Yahoo and Hotmail addresses under the WLM umbrella. But I cannot find how to make a shortcut. Nowhere can I find the relevant WLM icon to make a shortcut from. Obviously I am missing something, somewhere, but what is it?
I am using Window Vista. I am unable to uninstall Window Live Messenger (latest version). I go to control panel, under program, I saw those with window live xxx and i remove it but i cant uninstall/change window live essentials and i cant find the Window Live Messenger there. I exit the icon that appear at the bottom of the screen. I even remove it from the program. But after i restart the PC, Window Live Messenger appears again.
After loading pix and short video clips from Panasonic camera SD card to computer running Vista, it assigns photos for viewing in .jpeg format, which is fine, but the video clips are assigned a .mov file type and cannot be viewed. Does anyone know how to change the file type so I can watch the video clips since the .mov extension is not supported in WPG?

I have a quad-boot Intel CoreDuo machine with 4 GB of memory and an ATI AIW X1900 Radeon (multi-booting courtesy of EasyBCD). To put the matter as quickly as possible, all four systems (Vista 32, Vista 64, XP, and Ubuntu) have been happily coexisting for a long time. I haven't used Vista 64 for about 10 days and went in to do some work on it this morning. To my surprise, the video disappeared immediately after the green startup wait indicator. Eventually, after about the usual amount of time and hard disk activity, the startup sound came on but absolutely no video. I restored my full backup of the Vista 64 partition from last Sunday=97 same problem!
I went in on safe mode but it is impossible to change video settings or install new drivers in safe mode so that was a dead end. I tried the repair utility that comes with Vista but it could find no problem with startup. My working hypothesis is that something has gone wrong with the video drivers although that may not be the case. Even if it were, I can think of no way of fixing it short of completely rebuilding the Vista 64 system checked desperately do not want to do
who has purchased a JVC Everio HDD video camera has probably learned that they chose to use some god forsaken proprietary video format - the .MOD extension. Apparently this is some sort of MPEG2 encoding, however, most major video editing suites prefer not to accept this format? what we need is something more common? such as .AVI or .MPG. I would be happy with the .MOD file format if the software that came with the JVC Everio actually worked.

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate and when I stream videos from websites like Gametrailers.com as either a Windows Media or a Quicktime file the video is choppy and has sound issues. If I download the same video there is no choppyness and once the stream is no longer on HTTP and is on CACHE it is fine. I know i have enough bandwidth for the video and under statistics I does not show any errors .I have all the latest drivers and service packs. I have reinstalled Vista as both 32 bit and 64 bit to see if there was some difference. I also have this same issue on my Laptop running Vista.

I am unable to send email. Using Vista. Have emptied outbox as suggested in other posts. Outbox was emptied without difficulty, sent to drafts, then deleted. Created new email - tried to send - still couldn't. Error message - unable to connect to smpt server. Have gone to tols - accounts - servers - re-entered info.
Is there anything that is extra in windows mail that is not available in live mail? Is there any way to uninstall windows mail since it seems to be integrated with vista?
I've been given a new Windows Live OneCare subscription to try, and I currently use AVG Internet Security, for 3 home computers, all running Vista. I'd like to know if Onecare is something I should give up the AVG for. I have a subscription with AVG through Feb of next year, (paid for) so I don't want to give it up unless there is particulary good benefit from it. Could someone give a review of these two programs?
I uninstalled Vista SP1 for several reasons. Live OneCare keeps telling me I need to "Install missing updates." Is there any way I can tell OneCare NOT to alert me about the SP1 update?
I have a regular Soundblaster Live! soundcard (not SBLive! 5.1) with the expansion daughter card connected to the orignal Creativelabs 4.1 speaker setup. The card is on black PCB and has gold-plated connectors. This is from back in the days when this combo was the top of the line. Currently I have Vista x32 and am considering moving to x64 to use the full 4GB of RAM I have. However I am concerned there are no drivers for this. Right now I am using the modified KxDrivers 3538m which I get full quadrophonic sound and can adjust it anyway I want like the creative control panels. I don't believe this is compatible with x64. All the "fixes" I see on a simple Google search are for SBLive! 5.1,Audigy,X-Fi, etc.
Media Centre generally works well for me in Vista Home Premium except for a fairly continuous stutter in sound and vision when watching live digital TV (Freeview) and concurrently using several windows in Explorer/IE - especially when scrolling in IE.
Is this performance to be expected with such a set-up - or are there adjustments I could make to overcome the problem, such as prioritising the processing of the TV receiver signals?
Question: How to use Ubuntu Live CD using LAN. I want to access my dead vista laptop using my windows xp desktop with the use of ubuntu live cd, is this even possible? I've come upon a problem and I dread calling MS support. I have found nothing useful (without paying a subscription) on the net. I have Vista U x64 and a Hauppage WinTV1600. Everything was working fine for a couple months, but now I cannot play Live TV as I get this error. "Cannot Play Video: The file is currently in use by another application and cannot be played. Please try again later." Well, later is now over a week. I can still record tv and all other functions, no other issues at all.
I can't exactly pin down when it started due to a 2 week period of not watching live tv or what software (if any) could have caused it. I also tried the maintanence feature of MCE, but did not correct it. Does anyone have any thoughts or experience to this issue? I'm not sure what "file" or "application" could be doing this. I do have Nero 7 Essentials installed and uninstalled Cyberlink DVD in case, but I'm just swatting flies with these thoughts.
I have just installed an update that included the latest version of Live Mail and am absolutely amazed at the result. Surely they are kidding? In newsgroups now for some reason, new items have only the author (From) field highlighted with bold text and the subject and other fields just in normal text. The result is that when you receive new items in watched threads, you cannot see which thread it is that has the new items unless you go through and expand each one manually! Surely this is a bug in my setup and can't really be like this?
I bought norton 360 and hade it for about 2 years and had no problems but up until recently i got the GREEN AV in my system and it would not come out so i went into the regestry and got rid of it and through the system and got rid of that so it does not pop up any more when i turn on the system but now when ever i use live update on norton 360 it says opperation failed and will not update
I have Windows Mail on my Vista machine. I did a clean install of Windows 7, and I now see that Windows Mail is not included. I must down from the Windows Live collection of 'Live' applications.
when I pressed the download button, I saw the file was named wlsetup-web.exe. Does this mean that to install Mail, I will first be installing the framework for installing any other Live applications I may want in the future? That is, is this like installing only Word from the Office suite?
i have a hewlett packard computer thahas vista home edition in the motherboard. and windows live keeps opening itself over and over and over sometimes it tries to open 5 copies of itself at once. and i have done several spyware scans with several different pograms including norton, adaware, spybot, mcaffe and windows defender. i and spyware free on my hard drive yet this progran will not leave me alone!
if i play a game.. it closes out me gaming window every 3 seconds some times demading my attention if i am surfuing the internet it will over ride my keyboard and make itself the formost window. if i close the program out completley it restarts itself and will try to run 5 copies of itself at once.............
I can't get used to the current wishy-washy version of Live Mail (version 14 I believe) and would like to get the previous version (12) back. Does anyone know whether it can still be downloaded please and if so where from? If I find someone who still has the original installation.exe file and could get them to email it to me would it work? And is there by any chance such a kind person on this forum?
