"the Application Binding Data Format Is Invalid" While Attempting To Install SP2

Jul 24, 2009

I'm currently running Vista Home Premium x64 with SP1 and I am trying to install SP2 but I get this error: "the application binding data format is invalid"

I have uninstalled "Windows Live OneCare" and switched off the firewall and this has had no affect. I have also ran the "System Update Readiness Tool" and this has done nothing to help the situation either. Also tried the "The System File Checker tool". It got to 19% and then said "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation" Also when I try to install IE 8, I get this error code "800736b2". I had to do a system restore earlier today as something was causing Vista to lock up and I could only turn the PC off by holding the power button. This has resolved the issue of the lock ups. Don't know if this could have anything to do with it?

Boot: Application Attempting To Modify System

Jun 3, 2009

Everytime I boot up my system my security suite says that an application has changed that application is "WmiPrvSE.exe" and is located in "C:WindowsSysWOW64wbem". I also get another warning stating that an application is attempting to modify my system, which is potentially dangerous, that application is "WmiApSrv.exe" and is located in "C:WindowsSystem32wbem". Is this something that I need to be concerned about? I recently re-installed Vista so there really shouldn't be anything malicious on my system. If it is something I need to take car of how do I go about that?

Data Protection is a counterfeit application which pretends to be a legitimate security tool. The trojan based software starts its activities as soon as it installs onto your computer. Malware has no ability to detect and terminate the parasite. Fails When Attempting To Install The Cisco VPN Client

Aug 4, 2008

Has anyone seen or heard of a fix for the VPN client in x64? We had an end user at our office purchase a Vista Home Premium x64 laptop. Pretty nice machine but it fails when attempting to install the Cisco VPN Client. From what I understand, the only fix is to run a VMWare XP in 32 bit mode and install it there. At least this is what we had to get it up and running. This was several months ago and I'm hoping that Cisco has released a patch or new release for this.

Pdf Doucment Created Scanner Fax Fails Invalid Data

Jun 19, 2008

I have Vista Ultimate and a new USRobotics PCI FaxModem. WFS faxing works fine if I compose the content of the fax in the WFS New Fax editor window and then click send. But if I try to insert an attachment - a PDF or TIFF document created with my Microtek scanner - the fax fails with an "Invalid Data" error message. Is my scanner creating a file that WFS cannot render? Or is there some other known issue with faxing scanned documents? If WFS is choking on my scanner's output, how do I know which file formats/types WFS can render and which scanners output acceptable formats?

Ownership Of Application Data Folder, Cannot Rename

Copy To Application Data Folders Fails

Mar 23, 2008

I have a user whose PC crashed. The hard drive was corrupted but I was able to salvage most of the data including the Windows XP Profile. On Vista, when I try to copy default.nk2 to the MicrosoftOutlook folder in Application Data, I'm denied access even though I have an administrator account. This makes it kind'a tough to support my users who've moved to Vista for various and sundry reasons. I can import the .PST files but I can't restore the .NK2 files. This doesn't make a heckuva lotta sense to me.

Vista Application Data Folder Repeats Itself

May 15, 2010

I have Windows Vista Home Basic Edition installed. If you should suddenly find that C:Program DataApplication DataApplication DataApplication Data... is repeating itself ad nausium, try deleting either the first or the last of the repetitions. (I deleted the last one and they all disappeared.) Then, go to your Recycle Bin and you will find it there with a folder size of zero, which will seem odd, since when it was deleted mine was nearly one gig and I have heard the size of the repetitions sometimes grow as large as 40 gigs. In any case, restore it. You should find that the repetitions no longer exist and the the folder is back to the size it was originally. The files will show the current date under Date modified and Date created (with several Date modified exceptions). I hope this works for you. I also hope my Application Data folder stays like it is from now on.

Backup And Restore: Hidden Application Data Folders

Jan 27, 2010

I have two user accounts on my computer. My administrator account that I very rarely ever use, and my normal, general user account I named "Bob1". I use Vista Windows Mail as my email application. I just searched and found the "hidden" folder where my Windows Mail stuff is (C:UsersBob1AppDataLocalMicrosoftWindows Mail Local Folders & Microsoft Communities & Compact & Backup) I save everything to my Bob1 user account to the appropriate folder (Documents in documents folder, pictures into pictures folder, etc.) I never vary from this habit.

I have been backing up using Vista32 backup. It gives me the option to backup "Pictures, Music, Videos, E-mail, Document, TV-shows, Compressed files, Additional files". I check all of these options so all are backed up. It comes on automatically every day to backup anything new or changed.

I checked the restore part of vista32 backup & restore found in control panel. I looked up Bob1 and all my folders are there. It appeared the application data folders were there (difficult to find because the application data folders are hidden). I specifically checked the Windows Mail folders in the hidden application data folders and they were there. It appeasers everything is backed up.........

Install Software: Another Application Is In Progress....

Sep 30, 2008

I have Windows Vista Home Premium 64bit. When I try to install almost anything, I get an error that says there is another installation in progress, finish that install and then install this program. The problem is I don't have anything at all installing. I have disabled and restarted Windows Installer and I have disabled a filed named hpqcxs08 under the Services tabs. That worked for a couple of installs, but now it has started again. I then tried to install msicuu2.exe (Windows Cleanup Utility) and it gave the same error and called it Error 1500.

How To Format During Ulitmate Upgrade Install?

May 24, 2008

I purchased the "download & burn to disk" version of "vista ultimate upgrade". I've been using it for over a year with no real major issues until receintly. So I backed everything up I needed to CD so I can format my hard drive and do a fresh install. My hard drive hasn't been formated since I purchased it (Dell Dimension 8400). I stayed up until 5am re-installing Windows & Office Enterprise 07. Then got all the security updates (that alone takes over an hour). When I started browsing the hard drive with explorer, all my old files were still there! My question: How can I format my hard drive? I know there is a work around I can do. I have all my old origional cd's back from windows 98. I just need to clean up my system so it works great again. All my software is legit, I run a business from this computer and need to get this going ASAP.

Computer Keeps Attempting To Connect To Dial-up

Sep 14, 2009

First, my system is a Vista Home Premium, 64 bit with 8 GB RAM, Intel E8400 @ 3 GHz. Second, I have Hughesnet broadband; HN7000S modem/router, and a netgear switch, and a Linksys WRT54G as an AP for a couple of notebook computers that are sometimes connected. I also have a dialup account with WT.NET for "backup" (HN is rather
unreliable).

I've have four or five computers on line since I had these two accounts, but the present Vista computer is the only one that keeps trying to access the dailup account, even though the comnputer is on-line with Hughesnet. (all the other computers are running XP.... I'm really beginning to hate Vista.)

Balloon Message Saying "I Have 8 Days Left To Install Vista. Back Up All Important Data"

Jun 23, 2008

I installed Vista home premium OEM about 9 months ago and today I got a balloon message saying "I have 8 days left to install Vista. Back up all important data" The balloon messages have appeared recently, but I wasn't quick enough to read it all and I didn't believe it anyway. Just to see, I went through the process of reinstalling, but it was going to be a new install wiping all files and data from my C drive, so I cancelled the install. Would anyone know why this is happening after 9 months and is there anyway I can get around a new install? I have been using Acronis to back up, can I use it to put my settings/files/data back, or will I end up with balloon messages again?

Of course the recommendations involve getting on line with the computer which will not open windows. The other resolutoin suggested is to type in the product key on the computer. I am reluctant to do that since it says that if VISTA does not start up then Windows will be lost and the computer may not work at all.

Then the window popped up that said Windows Mail has rejected my login, asks me to log back in, which I did with and without @gmail.com and it says 'invalid credentials' a44if2687622rne.0 I just went BACK on because another inactivity window came up and I could access my inbox for about 20 seconds, hit the sent items folder and the window saying 'an unknown error has occured'configuration

I've read a lot of things saying it may be my antivirus software but I don't have Norton, I have Trend Micro PC-cillin that I paid to be preinstalled.
