I have a new system with a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3P Pro DDR2 Crossfire Motherboard with onbord 5.1 sound. My issue is my surround sound will not work with media player or media centre. Only the rear speakers will work. The surround sound works in games perfectly. The speakers are 5.1 Altec Lansing. Does anyone know how to fix this? I have played with the settings in media player with no avail. I GOTTA HAVE MY SOUND.
View 4 Repliesi purchased a creative inspire t6100 this summer and i got it to work with my vista home prem x64 for a while, then this past week it just broke on me, what i mean is that i only get stereo quality sound (2 front speakers and center when voice chat is on.) my motherboard is the asus p5q-pro and i am using the onboard sound card which is the realtek hd audio soundcard on 6.0.1.5591 driver version.
now i went into the settings already and configured my speaker system to 5.1 surround sound (thats what i did when i bought my system first and it worked fine.) now it wont work. when i press test however, all my speakers work, so it cant be a connectivity problem. it is just when i use itunes to play music or when i play games, or Internet or whatever, i only hear the 2 front speakers, my sub and rear 2 just dont work, only gives out staticy sounds when u listen to them.
I've read as much posts as I could before my eyes started to cross. I have a Vista Home Premium, 32 bit. I have a Realtek HD sound card. I've tried everything I could think of. I went into the sound properties, keep tryin to configure it to play a 5.1 sound system ( i recently got a hold of a Altec Lansing ADA995) and it shows the option to set it to a 5.1 surround sound but for some reason vista wont let me select that option?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just built an HTPC wiith Vista64 SP1 and am having a problem. I have a DFI LanParty X58-T3H6 motherboard and a VisionTek Radeon HD 4870 Video card with HD audio. I have an HDMI cable going to my Sony AV receiver and all I get is Stereo Audio. The subwoofer never comes out of standby nor does the AV receiver indicate anything but a stereo input.
I have the RealTek HDMI audio device installed and it says it is working properly under Device Manager. Under properties all that is offered is Stereo speakers. Surround Sound is shown as an option but it is grayed out and not selectable. All drivers are up to date as of two days ago, and I have the on-board sound of the motherboard disabled in its BIOS.
Other HDMI devices, such as my XBOX 360, do surround sound through the Sony AV receiver. VisionTek support told me to install the HDMI RealTek driver, but that's all the help they've been able to give me.
one of my games..conquest frontier wars has no sound, however it does play sound in the intro videos, i've installed indeo 5 because i remember years a go the game required indeo 4 for some video to work but that didn't work. Ive also tried compatibly mode.

The first time I started playing with it, games and such, I had sound but I stupidly put in the CD that came with the computer that apparently is only for reinstalling. Now I have no sound. I went to the Gateway download site and downloaded a driver that said it was compatible to my computer but it doesn't work. The little speaker at the bottom right shows a red X but my control panel area shows that it is working properly.

Im using the integrated sound from the motherboard , is SoundMax Integrated Digital HD Audio, Driver 6.10.2.6110 , I've try reinstalling the driver but it didn't fix anything. View 6 Replies View RelatedJust installed a Creative X-FI titanium and worked perfectly in Vista 64 bit. I had to use the PCIE x4 slot as the X1 slot would not fit on the motherboard due to the heat sinks. It really did make a huge difference in the sound quality from the on board sound.
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe problem is that when I'm listening to music or playing a game, the sound works just fine on my speakers. But if I plug in my headphones to the front port, the sound continues to come out of my speakers, and not my headphones. The only way to get the sound to come out of my headphones and not the speakers is to re-launch the application that is producing sound. The same is true vice-versa (going from headphones back to speakers). I have set my default output device to be the headphones and have played around with every setting in the Sound Blaster and Vista Sound control panels I can find - nothing seems to work.
I have read through other forums with similar issues, but they're all either a different issue (i.e. they get sound out of the speakers and the headphones - I only get it out of one, and not the right one), or the threads seem to have dropped off unsolved.
I keep getting a yellow exclamation point on windows start navigation sound I can go in and select it and it works for the time it is selected. but as soon as I reboot the yellow exclamation point comes back how do I fix this can someone help me please it annoying and aggravating to have to turn that on all the time. I even did a system restore back to yesterday thinking I did something to it no go still dose it. nothing else broken all works good sound everything just not this one.

Meaning when I record something, it would record whatever is playing on the computer. But I forgot how to make that setting.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to Vista U x64 and am having sound problems. I have a prelude x-fi sound card but the sound coming out of it is extremely low. I have maxed out every thing I can max (control panel sound, creative panel) and the sound level is whisper quiet. I have also upgraded all my drivers except the prelude's, I would but their website isn't offering those drivers at the moment. But the drivers supplied with the card are vista certified so I should get something. But my mobo, etc is all updated. I have been searching for a solution for two days to no avail.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have been wracking my brain for weeks now, trying to play C&C First Decade with Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge over the LAN, it will only run on IPX networking which I could setup with 2x XP machines, I have Vista Ultimate on my PC, and XP on another, I found some drivers for IPX to work on Vista, didn't work ... So I loaded Hamachi which had built-in IPX support. Now when I open RA2, it no longer says IPX unavailable, it shows 00 00 00...
So it can see my Hamachi adapter with IPX support, great! The other XP machine has Hamachi installed, and they are both VPN'd (Connected) on the same Hamachi Network. They don't see each other... The XP machine shows a few IPX networks, I have tried switching to them all, even put the Hamachi adapter and the LAN adapter to the top of the preferred networks list. This was sort-of a breeze with both XP, but with Vista it's looking to be a bit tricky. I have no firewalls running on either machine and I am pretty cluey when it comes to networking (TCP/IP that is).
Ive just bought some new headphones yet when i plug them in the sound still comes out of the speakers. I know the headphones do work because i use them with my mp3 player

I opened Device Manager and found everything normal: there was no yellow questions marks beside the Sound item. The speaker cables are also firmly connected to the PC. Ive had no sound since I instaled Vista Im gona try to explain to problem even tho my Vista is in swedish. Anyway when I got to the thing were I choose what kind of sound I wont for exampel "Stereo" (Right and Left speaker) or 5.1-surround. I bought a new laptop with vista home premium 32, she set it up as a standard user an now it's impossible to install anything onto computer because the system is still asking for admin. password and even if we know that one (well there haven't been password set up) in that dialog box it's nowhere to write it. How we can make her account changed to administrator?
Only one way I came up with is to use recovery disk set it up differently, well not sure about that and don't fancy it much.
I installed the service pack 1 and I don't have sound now. I have tried reinstalling my drivers, and all that other mumbo-jumbo from the microsoft page, but I still don't have sound.

just installed Vista HP 64 bit and it went pretty good, for the most part. I am dual booting w/XP Pro 32 bit, on seperate hard drives. I'm pretty impressed so far. I do have one major problem - no sound at all. Here's my hardware setup: asus p5q pro, Intel c2d e8400, saphire radeon 4850, auzentech x-fi prelude, logitech z-5500, seagate 320gb sata(XP Pro), seagate 640gb sata(vista). soundcard & spkrs. work great in XP. When I enter the soundcard setup pages and test various options, the sound plays fine through all speakers. So there is a link between the computer and the speaker system, and the correct speakers are used as they are tested. But I'm not getting any system sounds playing, and nothing from Media Player when playing music files.
