View 9 RepliesI have Vista x32 SP1 installed. The installation went fine, but I have noticed after the Conexant HD Audio driver update I had a no-sound issue. This went away after a restart. I then installed SP1 via WU and I again had a no-sound issue. I searched for an answer and found that someone had opened device manager, scanned for new hardware and was able to hear sound again. Well, I too am able to do this (open device manager,etc), but I have to do this ever time I resume windows from hibernation or after restarting to have sound. Is there some other way I can resolve this issue without accessing device manager after every restart/resume?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen i had XP on my computer everything was working fine. I did an overlay of Vista and now any audio device with a jack won't work.. My USB headphones do... I have gone through all the playback settings, searched through all of control panel to do with sound. I have downloaded the necessary realtek drivers (High Definition Audio Device) and nothing. I have also tried plugging the jack in the front instead of the back. The speakers work on any XP machine... just having troubles with my vista machine.

View 6 Replies View RelatedSo this, has been by life for the past little while. I have a Gateway M520 laptop, wich had XP on it, and i upgraded to vista. When i did that, I lost my sound. I have spent hours on the net, on the manufacturers websites, in random forums, Only to not find an awnser, and be left without sound. Nothing is muted, All drivers are supposedly up to date, tried uninstalling/re-installing, Tried letting windows update do it.............no luck. Seriously about ready to take a slegehammer to my laptop, lol.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an expensive motherboard (ASUS P5N32-SLI SE Deluxe) with 5.1 sound (Realtek AC'97) IO on the back panel and an internal 10 pin (with 2 pins missing) AC'97 header to which I should be able to attach the AC'97 lead from my case's front panel headphone + mic sockets.
However, when I plug in the internal header, I lose the front left and right speakers from my 5.1 back panel socket (without getting it out the front socket either). I assume this is something to do with the way vista has only one "speakers" thing in control panel's "sound" thing and how it detects if things are unplugged. The only way I have been able to get the back panel sound back has been to unplug the front panel from the internal IO header.
Does anyone know how to fix this so that I can use both the front panel (headphones) and back panel (speakers) without turning my computer off to attach a lead to the motherboard?

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I upgraded to Vista Premium from Basic I lost sound. Seems to be a common problem. I got the message "no audio output device is installed" I tried updating drivers to no avail.The following worked for me just now.
Go to Device manager
open Sound, video and game controllers
double click the driver
click "update driver"
click "search my computer"
choose "high definition audio device" - NOT the driver
this goings to sound dumb buts dose vista sp1 make its run slower ors is it like every one is on the web tonight? seams to make things running slower n was wonderings if any one else was having this issue?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to Vista U x64 and am having sound problems. I have a prelude x-fi sound card but the sound coming out of it is extremely low. I have maxed out every thing I can max (control panel sound, creative panel) and the sound level is whisper quiet. I have also upgraded all my drivers except the prelude's, I would but their website isn't offering those drivers at the moment. But the drivers supplied with the card are vista certified so I should get something. But my mobo, etc is all updated. I have been searching for a solution for two days to no avail.

Ive had no sound since I instaled Vista Im gona try to explain to problem even tho my Vista is in swedish. Anyway when I got to the thing were I choose what kind of sound I wont for exampel "Stereo" (Right and Left speaker) or 5.1-surround. Ive only got 2 speakers so mine is set to Stereo and theres no sound from the right and left speaker. BUT when I try the

I bought a new laptop with vista home premium 32, she set it up as a standard user an now it's impossible to install anything onto computer because the system is still asking for admin. password and even if we know that one (well there haven't been password set up) in that dialog box it's nowhere to write it. How we can make her account changed to administrator?
Only one way I came up with is to use recovery disk set it up differently, well not sure about that and don't fancy it much.

just installed Vista HP 64 bit and it went pretty good, for the most part. I am dual booting w/XP Pro 32 bit, on seperate hard drives. I'm pretty impressed so far. I do have one major problem - no sound at all. Here's my hardware setup: asus p5q pro, Intel c2d e8400, saphire radeon 4850, auzentech x-fi prelude, logitech z-5500, seagate 320gb sata(XP Pro), seagate 640gb sata(vista). soundcard & spkrs. work great in XP. View 7 Replies View RelatedI just got a new computer - based on Vista Home Premium, supplied with Creative Inspire 5.1 surround sound speakers and a Realtek sound card. When I enter the soundcard setup pages and test various options, the sound plays fine through all speakers. So there is a link between the computer and the speaker system, and the correct speakers are used as they are tested. But I'm not getting any system sounds playing, and nothing from Media Player when playing music files.
