Apr 16, 2008I installed Vista Ultimate in my 2.4 G. Core 2 Duo iMAC.
1. Vista didn't Recognized my ATI Video card. So I cant use Media Center Contents and play DVD.
2. NO SOUND.

Video Card Not Recognized By Device Manager
Aug 26, 2008New build with clean install of Vista Ultimate 64 Sp1 and the 4870x2 is not recognized by the device manager. Since it is not recognized I can not install any display drivers or CCC. Card is seated properly. Power supply is 1200 watt Xigmatek. Bios is the latest release 0408.

May 26, 2009I have to set up a smart card reader on Vista Home Premium 64 bit for a user, but cannot get it to be recognized. It is an SCR331, about 6 years old. I have downloaded Vista64 drivers from SCMMicro but though the card reader will work on an XP machine, it will not work on Vist64. When I install it, or reboot and it detects new hardware, and tell it where I downloaded the drivers it says this folder does not contain the necessary drivers. If I look at the 32bit drivers online it says there is a firmware upgrade but I do not want to apply that and have the reader stop working on the XP machine as well.

However, my Quadraphonic speakers don't seem to be working as I can only get sound to come out of my front two speakers when in WMP etc. when I go into control panel, I can get sound coming out of all 4 speakers, that silly test sound.

I know, though, about the 3GB limit of a 32bit system(I hear people say that Vista 32 utilizes (NOT recognize, but UTILIZE) 4GB of RAM, but I have yet to see any evidence that supports that, so I will stick to the idea that 3GB is the limit) I know that the 3GB=System RAM+Video RAM. I install 1 Nvdia 8800GT 512mb video card. System RAM reads 2.5GB. 3GB of System RAM-the 512 of the video card=2.5GB. goody gumdrops. I insall the 2nd Nvidia 8800GT 512 video card and enable SLI.System RAM reads 1.5GB? Shouldn't it read 2.0GB?? 3GB of System RAM-512 for card 1-512 for card 2=2.0...not 1.5...??? Where did the missing 500mb go? AND IF Vista 32 is supposed to be able to utilize 4GB, then shouldn't my RAM read 3.5 before SLI and 3.0 after SLI??? I have built and rebuilt, installed and reinstalled and I still come up with the same thing no matter what I try.
Integrated Sound Card Doesn't Seem To Have Any Drivers For Windows Vista
Jul 17, 2008my computer is a hp pavilion a1230n and when i upgraded it to windows vista, the sound card suddenly stopped working! i looked around, and my sound card doesn't seem to have any drivers for windows vista. i looked at the model, and i think this is it :integrated ati radeon xpress 200. my device manager says no device has been installed, but it's there because it was working with windows xp. i was wondering if there's any way i could update it or something.

Jun 28, 2008I am running Windows Vista Ultimate and when I stream videos from websites like Gametrailers.com as either a Windows Media or a Quicktime file the video is choppy and has sound issues. If I download the same video there is no choppyness and once the stream is no longer on HTTP and is on CACHE it is fine. I know i have enough bandwidth for the video and under statistics I does not show any errors .I have all the latest drivers and service packs. I have reinstalled Vista as both 32 bit and 64 bit to see if there was some difference. I also have this same issue on my Laptop running Vista.

May 20, 2008I just upgraded to Vista U x64 and am having sound problems. I have a prelude x-fi sound card but the sound coming out of it is extremely low. I have maxed out every thing I can max (control panel sound, creative panel) and the sound level is whisper quiet. I have also upgraded all my drivers except the prelude's, I would but their website isn't offering those drivers at the moment. But the drivers supplied with the card are vista certified so I should get something. But my mobo, etc is all updated. I have been searching for a solution for two days to no avail.

Feb 26, 2008have you guys experienced this? Even when turned all the way up, the video playback is great, but the audio is simply too low. Virtually every time. I installed some x64 codecs, but to no avail. The same happens on my 2nd T60p which runs Vista Ultimate 32-bit. I use the VideoLAN player, which plays back almost anything, and I also am the proud owner of a license for PowerDVD Ultra, Deluxe version. No audio problems there. I have installed Service Pack 1 on both Ultimate x64, as well as x86, and the issue is the exactly the same. Am I overlooking a small thing, such as not putting a checkmark in the right place? Is there some other kind of workaround?

Well, i previously had Combined Community Codec Pack but after viewing the thread on vista64bit codecs, i uninstalled this and used vista64bit codecs. But then i could play only media center not my windows media player. So after getting so annoying i installed Combined Community Codec Pack again.
But now i play any video, i feel the sound not in sync with the movie, as its slower then the video.
P.S : I use DIGITAL CABLE for my z680 and my supreme fx 2 sound card is just idle and not in use of my asus rampage. Also i use 9800 gfx from which a friend of mine has done audio output,

Nov 9, 2009I have a laptop with Vista Ultimate SP2 x86 installed and when I try to = run a movie or music DVD from the DVD ROM there is no sound in either = Vista Media Center or Media Player. Sound works for everything else, and = the same DVD's will play fine when loged on to XP Pro SP3 X86 on the = same machine. I have tried updating the driver, everything suggested by HP support, and = nothing has worked. Issues With /Sound Card
Mar 23, 2008I bought my laptop, featuring windows vista, about a year ago. During that time, I have noticed two things I could do on my older computer that had XP but can't do on Vista. (a) I cannot listen to anything I record into my computer while recording it. I have to record, then listen back. (b) I cannot record anything that is playing on my computer.
I read somewhere about copyright issues or something, but I work in the radio business, so I use my laptop for audio recording all the time. When you are recording an hour or longer broadcast for re-airing or for archive purposes, it really sucks if the audio doesn't record right, something you fix if you were able to here it during recording.

Apr 6, 2009I just recently formatted and reinstalled Vista because i changed my motherbored and Processor so i felt like a new start. After waiting for all the Windows updates to finish i turned on some music and my Sound was messed up, i have sound it just dosn't seem to work right.On some ill be able to hear everything but the singer and on others and hear only the singer. This also effects games, i turn on my scarface seeing it was closest game near me and installed it, on that i can't hear Scarfaces voice, or the cars around me but i can hear other people speak. Does anyone know whats wrong with my sound? I use the soundcard that is built onto my motherbored because i have never had need of a Sound card in the past. my new motherbored is an MSI motherbored and my processor is Intel core 2 duo.

IT SOUNDS LIKE CRAP!It's like if I had 10$ speakers with no sound card. I'm using optical with the latest Auzentech drivers with Creative alchemy and Ive set my speakers to 5.1. When I change settings in the Auzentech control panel, it doesn't get any better. I can enable X-Fi Crystalizer, change the equalizer to vocals, rock, anything, it doesn't make any difference.

The audio works fine for about 30 seconds and then it seems like it get distroted like people are talking slower.
