My first post here but been hanging out here alot and learned alot.
Well, i previously had Combined Community Codec Pack but after viewing the thread on vista64bit codecs, i uninstalled this and used vista64bit codecs. But then i could play only media center not my windows media player. So after getting so annoying i installed Combined Community Codec Pack again.
But now i play any video, i feel the sound not in sync with the movie, as its slower then the video.
P.S : I use DIGITAL CABLE for my z680 and my supreme fx 2 sound card is just idle and not in use of my asus rampage. Also i use 9800 gfx from which a friend of mine has done audio output,
This is probably a very simple question, transferring from xp to vista using easy transfer, over the years theres been a lot of stuff duplicated and deleted on my xp machine. I believe all these deleted copies and all the other deleted stuff stays on the computer, just not visible. Does esay transfer transfer all this deleted stuff as well,and if so is there anything special I should do to my xp machine to stop these copying. Don't want to fill the vista before i've used it with deleted stuff.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've tried everything to get my games to run smoothly on Vista, and nothing seems to work very well. Its not so much as my computer sucks, cause when I downgraded to XP, just to try it out, my games were running perfectly smooth. And don't say, "Just stick with XP then!" cause I love Vista in its many other ways.
The only reason I can come up with as to why my games run much slower on Vista is because Vista is a DirectX10 supported OS, but has a DirectX9 "emulator". And since all my games, and video card are DX9 compatible, it runs in the emulated mode. Now we all know running emulators makes our computers run a bit slower, so thats the only solution I can come up with.
Well I know alot of others have had this problem, and Microsoft knows its a problem, so they have said, and I've been told that Vista SP1 would fix that. Well I downloaded SP1 RC Refresh, yet nothing seems to have changed at all...
So heres my questions - Do you guys feel that because its a DX10 supported OS, and im running DX9 software/hardware, that thats a reason why my games run slower? Also what do you guys think on Vista SP1 RC Refresh?
Vista is slower than XP. Win7 boots slower than Vista. Cathy's boobs are too large so she loses balance when walking. My car is too fast so can't stop properly at intersections. neighbor's child is being a child so he screams, and I hate that man... errr child. China id too large. Will you stop complaining & just get a modern computer to run a new OS? Or let's go back to DOS p- sure it can run f-g fast even on coal-powered machine.

I have a recent computer, dualcore cpu, 2gigs etc. I went into it with an open mind, I never believe what people say until I try it myself. I expected it to be about 10% slower on benchmarks (gaming), etc. But I figured with a fast computer that 10% might not be missed.
It's so stupid! (unstable/crashy/crappy). My drivers are all up-to-date, etc. I've had more crashes in two days then I did in two years with XP. Games run horribly!I'm thinking I lost more then 10% performance, when things arent crashing With that said.... Goodbye you "sexy dumb blonde" of an operating system... I'm going back to ugly/reliable XP, after only two days...
It's a Dell Precision laptop running Vista Ultimate SP1 32-bit and it started off being quite snappy when first installed and now it just gets slower and slower everyday. It starts up slower and programs are launched much more slowly than before. I defrag the disk(s) regularly and there are 4GB of RAM so what could be the reason? Yes, there are more programs installed and more disk space actually used over time but why should that slow down the whole machine?

View 9 Replies View Relatedive been having problems with the tilde key on my Asus laptop. at first it was that it didint work at all, in games, in microsoft works, or notepad. i went searching online and disabled the driver for the eHome ir receiver (even though i dont own an ir receivers). after that i was able to use the tild key only outside of games. but heres the strange part, if i press the tild key quickly as if i were typing normaly, it dose not register. in order to use it i have to hold down the tilde key for about 1-2 seconds before it would spit out a stream of "````````````". then i could delete up to the first one. this is true for the laptops keyboard, and a wired dell keyboard i connected using usb.........

I have searched high and low for an answer, but all I find are posts by people complaining that Vista uses all their RAM, and the obvious responses that Vista _should_ use all their RAM. My problem is that I have a 64-bit system with 8 GB of RAM, and Vista only ever seems to use about 2.5 GB of it. I notice quite slow performance, for example, when I use Firefox with 80 tabs or so, but RAM usage is still relatively low. Of course my pagefile.sys is always an 8 GB file when I check. How can I make Vista use all of my RAM? I should be getting better performance.

I have a USB Logitech mouse. For reasons too lengthy to get into here, I want to hook it up via PS2.
So, I hooked it up with an adaptor. On bootup, the computer appears to recognize the mouse, as PS2 detection is enabled in the BIOS and the mouse's red light comes on.
However, when I get to my login page of Vista, the mouse doesn't work to control the pointer, and the red light is off. Even when I used the keyboard to just hit enter and log in as the "guest," the pointer will not respond when I got to the desktop.
Do I need to 'activate' the PS2 in Vista somehow?
I'm one of those users who has been using Vista with no problems ever since Microsoft gave out RTM copies to beta testers. However, as a writer, I've watched the media completely destroy the public opinion of Vista, leading many to stick with Windows XP or to look for alternatives, even before they had tried Vista. Even with SP1 out, many have not bothered trying Vista on recent hardware and therefore could not realize the fact that it really is worthy of being XP's successor. If I had to lay the blame on one party for Vista's poor public opinion, I wouldn't lay it on Microsoft, I wouldn't lay it on hardware companies incapable of producing good drivers, I wouldn't lay it on the fact that XP is so good, I would lay it on the media for blowing things out of proportions.

i recently bought a pc system with vista home premium already installed, av got no disks relating to vista with my system. iam planning to upgrade the emory,processor and graphics card but frightened if i do this will i lose vista when i connect the system back up? or how can a make a copy of my vista and put it on a disk??

Is that something that would allow me to enter a 'contact' and have it appear in all 3 email programs or will I have to type them in individually into each? $1200 is a 'big' investment for me, on a 'set' income. Tired of getting 'into' something ONLY to find it is a 'sales pitch'. I should NOT have to 'buy' additional programs to make VISTA run...that is something that Microsoft should provide somehow! I'm sure all these 'programs' you 'need to buy' are Microsoft related. I almost ironed out all bugs that was holding me back from switching from winxp. All except one. I can't make Vista shut down completely. It seems to turn off, but all fans keep spinning. I have gone back and fourth with apple and compaq to try and resolve the problem but i just keep getting the run around. I have (for years) used MSN Premium software as my email program. Now, it seems I can't make this my default email program with Vista. I am going nuts! I have spoken to MSN support who tell me to do the same things over and over. I have also spoken to Microsoft support who told me I have to use Outlook or Windows Live mail instead.
It's really hard. I have taught my elderly parents how to use the MSN software and now we have to change - or do we? I've tried the email settings in MSN itself, I've tried associations for programs in Vista and also the default programs. Nothing is working. Surely, one Microsoft program should work with another? We pay for this software so that we can also have sub accounts on our email more storage than the usual hotmail space.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have Vista x32 SP1 installed. The installation went fine, but I have noticed after the Conexant HD Audio driver update I had a no-sound issue. This went away after a restart. I then installed SP1 via WU and I again had a no-sound issue. I searched for an answer and found that someone had opened device manager, scanned for new hardware and was able to hear sound again. Well, I too am able to do this (open device manager,etc), but I have to do this ever time I resume windows from hibernation or after restarting to have sound. Is there some other way I can resolve this issue without accessing device manager after every restart/resume?
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen i had XP on my computer everything was working fine. I did an overlay of Vista and now any audio device with a jack won't work.. My USB headphones do... I have gone through all the playback settings, searched through all of control panel to do with sound. I have downloaded the necessary realtek drivers (High Definition Audio Device) and nothing. I have also tried plugging the jack in the front instead of the back. The speakers work on any XP machine... just having troubles with my vista machine.
