Icon Sizing Can Fix
Feb 6, 2009I noticed that when ever I open my games explorer or right click my computer icon, when the window opens the icon sizing has changed most often to large size. how I can fix this?

Nov 3, 2009My computer shut down and when it re-booted the icons were SUPER LARGE and the picture wall paper I had is enormous now. I was able to get the icons back to normal but the wallpaper won't readjust. I have Vista 64-bit. In the old computer, all I had to do was right click and the properties box would open and I would just re-adjust the pixel size but this computer is different.

Mar 20, 2009This drives me nuts constantly. Is there some way to set it so that I never ever have to see a certain column? "Tags" for instance, I find it useless and just taking up space that I could use for when I need to right click, yet it seems to show up in every folder regardless of what content is in that folder.

Aug 2, 2009Why after decades of Windows development won't opened windows maintain their set positions but instead continue to revert to other positions? In the case of IE the window size does remain a constant but something continues to upset its position. The position upset is not caused by closing the first instance of a window down first before other instances of IE for instance--that always upsets the first instance position of the window. I think there are many things that come along more important to spend man-hours on fixing but ignoring a real solution to something this obvious for so long a time I cannot condone. Size and position of a primary window's location ought to stick as sure as one's Home Page remains what you have set for it.
Equally annoying and unexplained is why some windows like MSConfig that can display a number of columns of data depending on what you are looking at in it have never been able to resize (or position) at all to properly display the data.
For me these are two really disgusting oversights. I wonder why, if Windows has a Registry that no one seems to care how it gets used or how large it grows, it can't be used to lock in window locations, sizing, expansion, configuration, etc. data, and keep these window parameters from reverting back to something less?

Feb 9, 2009For some reason the add/remove program has gone from just one column list to showing two columns. I would like to get it back to just one column list of programs but I have not been able to figure out how to do it yet. I was wondering if anybody has run into this problem before?

Nov 5, 2008I have tried everything to display file size in the Windows Explorer folders. I am using Vista version 6 SP1.
My folder is set to view 'all items'. It shows me name, date modified and type. When I right click to display column options, I can't locate size. There are a bunch of other column options, but size is not among them.
How To Customize Search Result Columns
Mar 21, 2008I am desperatly trying to change Vistas default search result columns. Everytime I use the do a search, I change the coulmns to "Name, Folder Path, Size, Type". Unforunatly Vista only remembers my settings for the already changed folders. If I search a different/new folder it defauls back to "Name, Date modified, Type, Folder, Authors, Tags".
Where can I change the default columns? As I do not want to change the columns for each and every folder ... I have already customizes Vista's default folder templates in "C:Users<username>" , but this has no effect on the search result. Customizing the searches in "C:Users<username>Searches" has also no use, as theese are the saved searches.

Jun 16, 2008When performing a search in Vista the results show the (thoroughly confusing and useless) "Folder" column. How can I *permanently* set this to the "Folder path" column. It would also be nice to get rid of the 'Author' and 'Tags' columns.

Oct 6, 2009What, if any, inferences can be drawn from the fact that there are typically three times more posts about Windows Mail (WM) than Windows Live Mail (WLM). Could it be that:
(a) WM is more troublesome than WLM (in view of the greater complexity of WLM this seems improbable)?
(b) Many more people use WM (seems probable - I wonder what the figures are)?
(c) A higher proportion of technically savvy users are likely to be early adopters of Windows 7 who have to find an alternative to WM. Some then migrate to a non-Microsoft email client such as Thunderbird, while those that try WLM find they can master it with few problems (plausible)?
My feeling is that there seem to be an awful lot of folk hanging on to WM and that they might be put off updating to Windows 7 because neither WM (nor Outlook Express) will not be available (at least not in a securely supported version) to run on it. I am cross-posting this to both newsgroups and suggest that replies go to WM as it has the larger following.

Tried changing by accessing Properties from Windows Mail but when I change to "Make this the defalut e-mail handler, apply and save then exit and return to Properties the setting has returned to Not the default e-mail handler.
I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium.
Note:
