Wont Install Games Video
Feb 6, 2009Some of my video games install. Some old and new ones will not install. I mean, I only get the allow, cancel window. It wont give me the option to install, I have gone into the settings, into dos. It wont do anything, the only action I get is the green tower light and some action in the dvd player, thats it.

Dec 11, 2009I have been having a problem with my video card (xfx geforce 9600 gso 768mb) randomly freezing up in games for a while now. I purchased a barebone from tigerdirect.com and had it set up and everything worked great for a little bit, but then it started to randomly freeze up in games. I was thinking that there were some conflicting drivers that were causing the error. I reinstalled vista and it worked OK for a little bit then started again.
I have been looking around everywhere to see if I could find any way to fix the problem. It turns out there are a lot of people with similar problems as mine with the same card. I tried all of the different methods that had been mentioned to help them fix their problems and none of them worked. This has been going on for a few months. It's really weird..................

Jun 11, 2009I have Vista SP1 installed on my laptop and recently some of the games I like to play will no longer work and new ones also.The game specs say that they are Vista compatible so why won't they work on my computer? Any steps I can take to resolve this? I haven't installed SP2 as yet, or IE8 because of all the problems I've read about them so am waiting on those.

Games And Alt+tab Stopped Working.
Mar 23, 2008so last week or so I was cleaning up my msconfig startup options, removing the third-party programs that sometimes likes to start up with Windows. After this and doing a restart to make sure I had disabled the stuff I wanted, I noticed that Aero and alt-tab wasn't working. This didn't worry me a bit since I just thought that I might have disabled some of the needed files for my nVidia graphics card - so I went to their website and downloaded the latest driver. After installing it and restarting it, it didn't help - then I noticed that Personalize (From the right-click menu on the desktop) didn't work either. So I went to the control panel, only to find that it wasn't working either (and the menu in my Start-menu was empty of entries in the Control Panel selection).
So this week I decide to do a bit of digging around on the internet to see if other people have encountered similar problems and I find that some have had problems with drivers (mostly ati, nvidia and intel graphics drivers) messing up the licensing service of Windows Vista. So I completely removed the graphics drivers of my nvidia card and installed them again - no success. So now I'm left with the problem that the licensing service (and the messaging service that's linked to the licensing service) aren't working - or I should say, the licensing service starts like it should, but the licensing messaging service doesn't and that's (apparently what's causing my problems, since Vista thinks it's now an expired trial license, and thus it has disabled the features, like it's supposed to - or that's what I can piece together, at least). Thus, I'm asking if anyone knows of a solution to this problem that doesn't involve me reinstalling Windows Vista as this is a rather tedious task I don't want to have to do (since I'm triple-booting on OSX and FreeBSD and using Windows boot manager to do so)..
Age Of Empires Games Can't Working
Feb 24, 2009I have just recently installed aoe2 conq expansion, and I am trying to play it online again. But I need to update the game, and everytime I attempt to do it, it tells me I do not have the retail copy of the game installed, yet i have the discs sitting infront of me. I have tried running the patch in administrative rights, and tried running it under windows xp sp2 installation type, neither have worked. I have reinstalled the game multiple times, with no success.

Sep 14, 2008i bought a new rig a few months back and got me some vista to let my memory be of full use. i played cod4 and age of conan just fine. but then my friend wanted me to come back and play some cs 1.6. i said ok ill own you a few times , i downloaded steam (i had an account that had cs on it) and then dowloaded cs from steam. now i was ready for some action , i enter the game and then when i got on a server and was on it for a few seconds it just well exitied (dont know if thats a word ). no error message no nothing it just fell down .. is this meh vista? because i played it fine on xp with my last computer. Jul 27, 2009Last night my Vista Ultimate x64 said there was 1 available update. This update was SP2 for Vista.
So I let it install. After the PC rebooted SP2 was installed, but, none of my games worked. Call Of Duty WAW, Call Of Duty 4, Prototype, Overlord, bionic commander each one of these games started to boot and then either shows me a blank screen, or crashes to desktop.
I found that there was later versions of my graphics card and my sound card so I updated both of these. It made no difference. I then uninstalled and re-installed Bionic Commander. Again no difference this game didn't work.
Full-screen Does Not Working Playing Games
Jun 10, 2008When trying to launch games that run in full-screen it starts up, then minimize itself, leading me back to the desktop.It still runs in the background apparently, but it will minimize right back down when I click it again. No error message at all. It used to work fine until about a month ago. I have no idea what caused this and how to fix it.

I keep getting a problem with the screen when I play "trackmania" it's like some of the text and texture is blurry. Weird thing is I don't have any problems with other games like Fallout 3 or Call of duty 4-5 and so on. Those games I play with highest settings and no fuzz with the texture there. Dec 9, 2008i have an nvidia 7800 gtx 512mb that has been working in my rig for several months now. Windows vista ultimate x64, foxconn micro atx mobo 4gig corsair ddr2800 ram, 250g hdd, 380w antec psu. i just bought a 22" acer monitor a week ago. i turned on the puter from sleep this morning and the computer turned right on, all lights, fans etc on. but nothing appeared on screen. it didnt beep since it was waking up from sleep, not off. in my morning grogginess i hit the reset button, it reset, beeped once and turned on but still no picture at all.
naturally i checked all connections and theyre fine. monitor has vga and dvi(using dvi) and i plugged it into the onboard dvi, and STILL nothing. being thorough, i plugged the vga in the onboard and the screen came on. tried the new 22 and an old crt in both dvi and vga and only the vga worked on both...............
Video File Manualy Working
Jan 1, 2010i have a very strange problem. I don't know what reason is. When I want to open video file (.avi) automatically is opening in WinAmp which I just used before for audio files. I tried to use option "Open with.." but when I chose the program I want to use to open this file, icon of this application didn't show up in the window of recommended programs (windows where there are icons of programs which you can use to open particular kind of file) When open the program (Zoom Player), and I try to open video file, everything was working., but still I don't understand why I cannot set up this option for ever. Not every time to go to Zoom Player and from this program look for .avi's files to open.

I had to take one out to make it load.I had no internet yet my properties showed that the LAN drivers were installed.My mouse was very.... jumpy and "laggy".I put XP back. I didn't have the patience to fu*k with it.I can't be sure that my "key" was good for the build. I just have an ISO. I can't see how that would jeopardize the load of the OS.

Jun 16, 2009I'm running legit copies of Halo 2 and Assassin's Creed, and they tend to crash my display driver/video card at any random old time. Usually around 5 minutes in. Less for AC. I know it's the display driver or video card or whatever because the game freezes with red squiggly lines all over the place, then the monitor says no input detected. The computer, however, is still running. I have Vista Ultimate 32bit, and an EVGA 8800GT. I can post more info if necessary. All my drivers are up to date and I disabled my onboard graphics in my bios so that only PCIE is outputting.

Sep 5, 2008just got some games loaded and I used to have ATITray Tools which would let you keep the frame rate and temps in the corner during game play, anything like that for Nvidia? Just ran Quake4 at full specs and had Nvidia performance control panel turn the fan to 90%... but would like to monitor the temps and frame rates on this and other games. 9800GT 1GB. ( as soon as the new card arrives.... back to ATI tools.

No Video On 64 Startup, Change Video Settings
Apr 19, 2008I have a quad-boot Intel CoreDuo machine with 4 GB of memory and an ATI AIW X1900 Radeon (multi-booting courtesy of EasyBCD). To put the matter as quickly as possible, all four systems (Vista 32, Vista 64, XP, and Ubuntu) have been happily coexisting for a long time. I haven't used Vista 64 for about 10 days and went in to do some work on it this morning. To my surprise, the video disappeared immediately after the green startup wait indicator. Eventually, after about the usual amount of time and hard disk activity, the startup sound came on but absolutely no video. I restored my full backup of the Vista 64 partition from last Sunday=97 same problem!
I went in on safe mode but it is impossible to change video settings or install new drivers in safe mode so that was a dead end. I tried the repair utility that comes with Vista but it could find no problem with startup. My working hypothesis is that something has gone wrong with the video drivers although that may not be the case. Even if it were, I can think of no way of fixing it short of completely rebuilding the Vista 64 system checked desperately do not want to do

Video Streaming Has Pauses In Video And Sound
Jun 28, 2008I am running Windows Vista Ultimate and when I stream videos from websites like Gametrailers.com as either a Windows Media or a Quicktime file the video is choppy and has sound issues. If I download the same video there is no choppyness and once the stream is no longer on HTTP and is on CACHE it is fine. I know i have enough bandwidth for the video and under statistics I does not show any errors .I have all the latest drivers and service packs. I have reinstalled Vista as both 32 bit and 64 bit to see if there was some difference. I also have this same issue on my Laptop running Vista.
