I have 4 user identities on my computer. Three of them work no problem. When I go into my user id (which is also the admin ID) it automatically reboots the computer. The computer starts up to the normal screen with the 4 user IDs on it. And as soon as I log into my ID it reboots in about 5 seconds once again. keeps happening. All 3 other IDs work fine. Whats up and can I fix it? I ran a McAfee full scan and nothing came up.
Everytime I open a game the game freezes for about 10-30 seconds, and then begins to load.. This also happens when closing takes about ten to thirty seconds, and then finally closes... This happens with every single game I had.. This didn't happen in the beginning but started about three to four months ago.. I searched for other threads in different forums.
Is there a way to stopVista from automatically closing WinExplorer upon ejecting CD/DVDR after recording/labeling? Suddenly it's doing it, but I believe upto recent times such annoyance was not happening. Eject disk and continue working in WinExplorer, but now I need to restart and go BACK to a folder where I left off, often burried deep in filetree.
I've got a problem with my Vista Home Premium x64 and haven't found a solution so far. My PC started recently to minimize some games to the tray when I start them.
Those games are: - Sacred Gold - Ghost Recon (inlcuding both addons) - Tom Clancy's HAWX Demo - Braid Demo
I can't figure out what's causing this... The problem only started to occur recently - I don't know why. I uninstalled everything I had installed recently, but to no avail.
I have Vista SP1 installed on my laptop and recently some of the games I like to play will no longer work and new ones also. The game specs say that they are Vista compatible so why won't they work on my computer? Any steps I can take to resolve this? I haven't installed SP2 as yet, or IE8 because of all the problems I've read about them so am waiting on those.
I have A couple of games installed on my Laptop. that have Stopped working. so last week or so I was cleaning up my msconfig startup options, removing the third-party programs that sometimes likes to start up with Windows. After this and doing a restart to make sure I had disabled the stuff I wanted, I noticed that Aero and alt-tab wasn't working. This didn't worry me a bit since I just thought that I might have disabled some of the needed files for my nVidia graphics card - so I went to their website and downloaded the latest driver. After installing it and restarting it, it didn't help - then I noticed that Personalize (From the right-click menu on the desktop) didn't work either. So I went to the control panel, only to find that it wasn't working either (and the menu in my Start-menu was empty of entries in the Control Panel selection).
So this week I decide to do a bit of digging around on the internet to see if other people have encountered similar problems and I find that some have had problems with drivers (mostly ati, nvidia and intel graphics drivers) messing up the licensing service of Windows Vista. So I completely removed the graphics drivers of my nvidia card and installed them again - no success. So now I'm left with the problem that the licensing service (and the messaging service that's linked to the licensing service) aren't working - or I should say, the licensing service starts like it should, but the licensing messaging service doesn't and that's (apparently what's causing my problems, since Vista thinks it's now an expired trial license, and thus it has disabled the features, like it's supposed to - or that's what I can piece together, at least). Thus, I'm asking if anyone knows of a solution to this problem that doesn't involve me reinstalling Windows Vista as this is a rather tedious task I don't want to have to do (since I'm triple-booting on OSX and FreeBSD and using Windows boot manager to do so)..
I have just recently installed aoe2 conq expansion, and I am trying to play it online again. But I need to update the game, and everytime I attempt to do it, it tells me I do not have the retail copy of the game installed, yet i have the discs sitting infront of me. I have tried running the patch in administrative rights, and tried running it under windows xp sp2 installation type, neither have worked. I have reinstalled the game multiple times, with no success.
could a 'friends' system be included into the vista games explorer? So i could see what games, servers etc my mates r playing on as well as a chat system? Are any or all of these games MP only? if not, and the SP Campaigns can also be played... which one do you suggest I pick up? Are there more than 1? Sorry, tried to google this but it is a bit confusing. I saw the trailer of the new OF:RS coming out in Oct and I think is going to be the kind of game I would probably like to buy... very enticing to say the least. Of course, for me the motto is:, No demo, No sale. Ubisoft has made me a Non-Believer, or smarter... whichever one you like
i bought a new rig a few months back and got me some vista to let my memory be of full use. i played cod4 and age of conan just fine. but then my friend wanted me to come back and play some cs 1.6. i said ok ill own you a few times , i downloaded steam (i had an account that had cs on it) and then dowloaded cs from steam. now i was ready for some action , i enter the game and then when i got on a server and was on it for a few seconds it just well exitied (dont know if thats a word ). no error message no nothing it just fell down .. is this meh vista? because i played it fine on xp with my last computer. Last night my Vista Ultimate x64 said there was 1 available update. This update was SP2 for Vista.
So I let it install. After the PC rebooted SP2 was installed, but, none of my games worked. Call Of Duty WAW, Call Of Duty 4, Prototype, Overlord, bionic commander each one of these games started to boot and then either shows me a blank screen, or crashes to desktop.
I found that there was later versions of my graphics card and my sound card so I updated both of these. It made no difference. I then uninstalled and re-installed Bionic Commander. Again no difference this game didn't work.
When trying to launch games that run in full-screen it starts up, then minimize itself, leading me back to the desktop. It still runs in the background apparently, but it will minimize right back down when I click it again. No error message at all. It used to work fine until about a month ago. I have no idea what caused this and how to fix it.
I have encountered a new problem. My graphics card is a Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 1792 MB. I keep getting a problem with the screen when I play "trackmania" it's like some of the text and texture is blurry. Weird thing is I don't have any problems with other games like Fallout 3 or Call of duty 4-5 and so on. Those games I play with highest settings and no fuzz with the texture there. Here is a screen from trackmania, look at the blurry text and so on: ScreenShot92.jpg
I have been mixing around with the nvidia control panelt lately and tried a lot of stuff but nothing worked. My current setting is "let the program decide 3D settings"I run vista 64 bit and intel i7 950 with 6GB ram.
Win7 is constantly asking me to login in after a period of inactivity. I have gone to User Accounts, unchecked Users must login and put my user name and password in the "Automatically login" dialog box. Win7 still wants me to login.
just got some games loaded and I used to have ATITray Tools which would let you keep the frame rate and temps in the corner during game play, anything like that for Nvidia? Just ran Quake4 at full specs and had Nvidia performance control panel turn the fan to 90%... but would like to monitor the temps and frame rates on this and other games. 9800GT 1GB. ( as soon as the new card arrives.... back to ATI tools.
Using Vista Home Premium, IE8 is constantly closing - that is, a message box tells me something happened and IE has to close. Most of the time, I just 'X' out the message box and IE does NOTclose.
With windows xp you only needed to ctrl-alt-del to view running programs and close them, before installing new software. How do you close programs for xp?
I have a Dell XPS M1530 and recently it has stopped going into sleep mode. Whenever I try to put my laptop to sleep its pretty much like it "restarts." I hear the 2 clicks from the cd drive and then after login all of my programs are booting up again.I have already checked the power settings in the control panel. Mylaptop is set to go to sleep when the lid is closed on both battery and ac.
Additionally, my laptop goes to sleep whenever I manually use "Fn + F1" and when I press "start - sleep." Has anyone had this problem before? How did you fix it?
Since I had my Vista Small Business reinstalled, Excel is closing down and sometimes restarting again. Sometimes just closing down. After it has reopened automatic I can close without problems. The closing down also often happens upon opening a new Excel page when Excel is open. See attachment. I have complained to the company who did the reinstallation but the claim that it is a Microsoft probloem which has nothing to do with the reinstallation. I have reinstalled Office Enterprise 2007 with no effect. When the problem started I received a message from HP that it was due to selecting the Printer HP Photosmart C5180 as default. I have tried to make another printer default but it has no effect. The computer is a Lenovo Think Pad T-61.
My CD Tray is now opening and closing every 2 min. If i put in a disk, such as a game disk, and start the game, the tray will stop opening and closing. Once I stop the game, the tray starts opening and closing again.
auto execute does not work when I put a disk in.
I have run Norton 360, it shows no vurus or spyware.
I just brought a new laptop with vista home premium 64 bit 4G RAM. However, while i'm playing a online game for about every 10 minutes, it just closed by itself and didn't give me any warnings. It can stay w/ no problem on the game login page but just not in the game. I'm wondering is there problem with the graphic card? I had tried 2 different brand laptop with 64 bit 4G RAM, both have the same problem. But the game worked well with my old laptop with vista home premium 32 bit 3G RAM.
The problem I am having with Windows mail is that when i open it to check mail it starts to check the accounts, then it says "windows has encoutered a problem" "checking for a solution" then the dreaded "there is no fix, im going to close" If I am persistant and keep reopening the program it will eventually check all the emails, but then will prompt an error in 10 min and ask me to close the program. Is there some problem that no fix has been released for this?
An odd thing as occured in the past week. I am using Vista 64bit OS. As we all know, when we click the (x) in the upper right to close a web page, it should close on one click. Also when going to the task bar and right clicking to close the page. It is taking me three or more clicks to close the page. The back arrow seems un-affected. The open web page seems to hang and then closes.I have no problems in closeing normal windows within the os.I've checked for malware using malwarebytes and nothing comes up. I also have no viruses according to my payed version of AVG. I keep my system clean of junk files etc.
I have a minor but annoying problem with playing movies or videos in VMC. Once you have watched the Mov/Vid and stop it and say you are done it sits in the main screen menu as now playing - eventually to start again of its own accord. The only way to stop this happening is to close VMC and reopen it.
I am having trouble trying to close my folders, my computer, and other folders, when I choose file, close?, it just hangs?, I have to resort to closing by pressing the red X button top right hand corner to close whatever is open?
