Is there a way to stopVista from automatically closing WinExplorer upon ejecting CD/DVDR after recording/labeling? Suddenly it's doing it, but I believe upto recent times such annoyance was not happening. Eject disk and continue working in WinExplorer, but now I need to restart and go BACK to a folder where I left off, often burried deep in filetree.

I have 4 user identities on my computer. Three of them work no problem. When I go into my user id (which is also the admin ID) it automatically reboots the computer. The computer starts up to the normal screen with the 4 user IDs on it. And as soon as I log into my ID it reboots in about 5 seconds once again. keeps happening. All 3 other IDs work fine. Whats up and can I fix it? I ran a McAfee full scan and nothing came up.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIm trying to record audio but only record what I hear & not record from my mic. Problem is my mic is my only option. I updated my drivers which are Conexant High Def Smart Audio221 & also NVIDIA High Def Audio. But after I did that I only a 1 single option to choose from when I look under recording devices. And it is showing disabled devices as well. Any idea's on what im doing wrong and/or what I need? Basically I want to record what only comes out of my speakers & not pic up any backround noise from my mic.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThis is really mysterious. I have an external 2.5" USB drive and for god's sake I cannot safely remove it from my Vista ultimate 64bit system! I copied something on it and I am quite sure, that safely remove is good to do, because I use such drives for some time already and I already lost some files when it was not done (my computer froze something)! Process explorer shows nothing when I search for my drive letter. I tried some unlocker utility, but it does not make it's context menu.maybe after restart it will :- I disabled indexing for fast search on this drive, but nothing changed.Maybe system restore?.

Is there a way or shortcut that I can use to find which programs or windows are still using the Drive? Will potential problems result if I just do a 'hard' close-down?, ie >Start>Switch Off button ='Closes all open Programs, Shuts down Windows, turns off Computer'. Running a Toshiba Satellite (nice speakers) under Vista Home Premium SP2. There is a series of audio interviews on the web that I want to record on my HD. Currently, I'm having acceptable results simply playing through the speakers and picking it up through the microphone using Sound Recorder. It's not exactly high fidelity, but I'm dealing with speech, not music. The only problem is that it's vulnerable to any noise in the area, and four to six grandkids can produce that effortlessly.
I asked Geek Squad if I could just jumper the earphones output to the mic input, thereby blocking out external noise. She said it wouldn't work because ... yadda yadda .. powered mic ... yadda yadda ... a lot of extra noise. She confused me further with talk about software that will do this. I tried a free trial of one, but it looked as though it was still depending about the output from speakers and said nothing about gagging grandkids. Is there a way to play audio from a website and record it on my HD without depending on immediate airspace?
anyone knows how to record from the sound card in vista? i remember when i used to run XP i would select "wav" or "stereo" and i wud be able to record whats been played on my computer. now i got vista and a built in mic those options arent showing up. is there any other way to get this?

So today I brought a microphone headset (cheap one). But I still find a little bit of background noise using the sound recorder. I need this because I do poetry and I am doing some recorded peotry for use as backing for a dvd. Im just looking for the cheapest resonable option. Has anyone got any ideas? I have done a couple of peoms to dvd but the sound lets it down. This is just a project at the moment so I dont wont to spend louds of money on equipment.

For example, if I was playing a WAV file, or listening to a song on the internet, I could record it. Now in Vista it only allows me to record from my microphone. I checked disabled devices and still can not get anything but the microphone to show up. Is there anyway around this besides sticking an audio cable from the headphone jack into my mic input? So far Vista has me aggravated with things I have lost, you would think a newer operating system would allow you more flexibility, not take it from you.

The microphone jack has both, mono & stereo capability. I know that line-in and microhone jacks are not the same, but do not know if Wirdows Audio recorder software (or similar) accounts for this. Can I use the microphone input jack to record stereo signals output from another

I cannot seem to get a signal into AUDACITY, although I han hear an output from the computer's speakers. I have connected the cassette player's headphone output to the computer's LINE-IN jack. I have set the device preferences in AUDACITY and have right-clicked the speaker icon and set the recording device to LINE-IN but still no-go!

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell XPS M1530 and recently it has stopped going into sleep mode. Whenever I try to put my laptop to sleep its pretty much like it "restarts." I hear the 2 clicks from the cd drive and then after login all of my programs are booting up again.I have already checked the power settings in the control panel. Mylaptop is set to go to sleep when the lid is closed on both battery and ac.
Additionally, my laptop goes to sleep whenever I manually use "Fn + F1" and when I press "start - sleep." Has anyone had this problem before? How did you fix it?
Since I had my Vista Small Business reinstalled, Excel is closing down and sometimes restarting again. Sometimes just closing down. After it has reopened automatic I can close without problems. The closing down also often happens upon opening a new Excel page when Excel is open. See attachment. I have complained to the company who did the reinstallation but the claim that it is a Microsoft probloem which has nothing to do with the reinstallation. I have reinstalled Office Enterprise 2007 with no effect. When the problem started I received a message from HP that it was due to selecting the Printer HP Photosmart C5180 as default. I have tried to make another printer default but it has no effect. The computer is a Lenovo Think Pad T-61.
View 4 Replies View RelatedMy CD Tray is now opening and closing every 2 min. If i put in a disk, such as a game disk, and start the game, the tray will stop opening and closing. Once I stop the game, the tray starts opening and closing again.

I just brought a new laptop with vista home premium 64 bit 4G RAM. However, while i'm playing a online game for about every 10 minutes, it just closed by itself and didn't give me any warnings. It can stay w/ no problem on the game login page but just not in the game. I'm wondering is there problem with the graphic card? I had tried 2 different brand laptop with 64 bit 4G RAM, both have the same problem. But the game worked well with my old laptop with vista home premium 32 bit 3G RAM.

all the emails, but then will prompt an error in 10 min and ask me to close the program. Is there some problem that no fix has been released for this?
An odd thing as occured in the past week. I am using Vista 64bit OS. As we all know, when we click the (x) in the upper right to close a web page, it should close on one click. Also when going to the task bar and right clicking to close the page. It is taking me three or more clicks to close the page. The back arrow seems un-affected. The open web page seems to hang and then closes.I have no problems in closeing normal windows within the os.I've checked for malware using malwarebytes and nothing comes up. I also have no viruses according to my payed version of AVG. I keep my system clean of junk files etc.
