I recently overclocked my cpu from the stock 2.67 to 3.8
Bclk 194
cpu volt 1.4
Dram bus volt 1.50
Qpi/dram core volt 1.375
Temperature was fine
Which ran fine gave it a few tests (prime95) which was all good, but there was a problem with the sleep function if i did it a second time vista would not boot, i would just get a black screen, and twice when i turned the computer on it gave me a overclock failed message, if i restarted it all was good but i was unsure so now im running it stock.
i have been getting a few errors with various programs (java, call of duty 5, crysis) they have been crashing from time to time, the solution centre found a problem and gave me this message "This problem was caused by a compatibility issue between this version of Windows and a chipset in your computer. The chipset was created by Intel Corporation. The model name of the chipset that caused this problem is Intel QuickPath Architecture I/O Hub."...............
The performance of Vista completely craps out every couple of months on me. I have been wondering if my issue may be the compatibility of my 64bit version of Windows and my hardware. If this is the case, would you guys think that upgrading to Windows 7 could possibly end this tedious and annoying problem?
My vista keeps locking up after various amounts of time, no matter whether its just idling, or im making the computer work hard. As ive read on other topics, I think its a driver issue, but I just dont know what to do. I will try another fresh vista install tomorrow and get the vista updates quickly to see whether that helps the situation. I have ensured it isnt overheating like it did initially when I bought the system, and it is now a safe and low temperature in a running state. Also, it only detects 3.5Gb of the 4Gb of RAM I have in my system. PC Spec:
Ive re-installed, windows, and it froze after I installed the chipset driver. I contiuned, and found a sound driver wasnt digitally signed. However it still crashes. I have got the latest drivers for it. For it to crash, all i did was open recycle bin, from idle state.
I recently bought and tried to install Sega Rally Revo on my computer running Windows Vista. I got an error saying the game wasn't compatible. I clicked a link to check for fixes and saw and downloaded a Patch. When I tried to install it, it wouldn't work either.
For all those detractors out there who believe Vista is rubbish for older games, and in particular Vista x64, I'd like to present some evidence to the contrary, in the form of a blast from the past. 1995 to be exact.I've recently re-aquired an original Diablo 1 (what can I say - I'm a Diablo fan), and figured because I was using Vista Ultimate x64, I'd have to run it in Windows XP under Microsoft Virtual PC 2007. However, when I got home from work this afternoon, I inserted the disk and allowed the autoplay to run.
The game installed without problems. Although I must mention that I changes the install path from "C:Program Files (x86)Diablo" to "C:GamesDiablo". And it played! To top it off, it even showed up in the Vista Games Explorer. This has surely got to be the oldest game I know of that has installed without any issues whatsoever onto Vista x64, and does not even need to have any compatibility mode settings manually changed! i`ve got a problem, when i`m trying to install MASS STORAGE DEVICE it appears this message. Compatibility issue between Texas Instruments PCIxx12 FlashMedia Reader and Windows. The situation is I first installed with all 6Gb, sata controller on Bios on AHCI mode, took around 2 hours to install, a first start after install took around 8 mins, when trying to instal chipset drivers (Intelchipset) took around 3 hours to complete, reformatted changing sata mode to IDE, same situation, reformatted and "just to check" installed XP 32 to my surprise took only 10 minutes to complete install, and no more than 2 minutes chipset
Network and sound drivers, recognized all 8 cpu's and 6 gb on RAM, worked just the way it has to; reinstalled vista, same old prob, restarted on safe mode and realized that crcdisk.sys took around 6-7 minutes kinda hung up, HDD led off, lighting up once a while, then completing start-up, went to look for some info on that file and learned about 4+ gigs issue, removed 4 gigs of ram, restarted and vuala, took less than a minute for vista to start, and worked the way is meant to, activated vista, updated to SP2, turned system off, renistalled whole memory, restarted and same old prob, almost 10 mins to start, restarted to safe mode, crcdisk.sys again, kinda stuck. Do you know any solution, Microsoft didn't give any solution unless I pay $$$ for support. (I already paid for original software and got no support)
I'm assembling the components to upgrade this machine (it is a 939 mobo with a nForce3 chip and early releases of Windows7 didn't play well with the chipset). I'm not a gamer, I don't need the latest and greatest cpu and I don't plan on any overclocking. The most demanding things I do are video recoding of HDTV, some audio recoding and some simple image editing.
I already have a mobo that takes AM3 processors and DDR2 memory. I'm considering a Athlon II x4 or a Phenom II x3 both running at 2.6. They are about the same price and the only difference, other than the cores, is the L3 cache. The Athlons don't have any and the Phenoms have 6 MB. What are your opinions? Will I see any difference in the performance in my real world situations?
If I get the OEM version, I know that a restriction in the license means it cannot be transferred to another computer. I need to get clarification on the following:
1) What happens if my computer crashes and I am told I have to reformat the hard drive and re-install Windows? Am I forced to buy a new license?
2) What if I want to have a backup hard drive, or upgrade my existing hard drive to a bigger one? If it's the same computer and only the hard drive is upgraded or a second one added, does that mandate a new license?
My computer performed an automatic update Saturday night. This was deemed "important" by the Windows Update program. It completely blew up the graphics on my computer, a 4 month old Dell Insperion 530S running Vista Home Premium. It turned my 19 inch monitor into a 12 inch monitor. Some web pages were squeezed into the middle of the screen, with blank spaces on each side. Some were spread way out. Some were all the way to the left, some all the way to the right. Neither Word nor Excel displayed properly. Only Quicken seemed okay, but not QuickBooks. I restored the system to the previous settings, and fixed the problem, but automatic update did the same thing last night and I had to restore it again.
I have disabled the automatic update feature, at least for now. I don't want to be subjected to this every morning when I wake up! I don't know if this is an Intel problem or a Microsoft problem, but the lack of testing on a update like this is just inexcusable......
when I installed an 8500GT Nvidia graphics card. The system would run for a little then completly lock up. All I would be left with was an EventID: 6008 in the Event Viewer once I reset. Once I remove the 8500GT and run on the onboard 3200HD drivers all is well. Nothing locks up the system responds fine. I dont think the system is infected with anything as this is a fresh install on a fresh hard drive. Previously the system ran with XP on a different hard drive (120gb, the 320 was storage) and had no trouble with lockups. I'm not sure what the problem could be. Originally, I thought it might be power supply--but after trying a 430watt nothign changed.

I upgraded my pc and bought Windows Vista ultimate 64bit, and i would like to install Windows vista Business 64bit. How can i do it? I took ultimate because it was the only version i could find (in my area anyway) that had a 64bit version in the box. But i don't want the media center, the high definition, and all the multimedia stuff. All of these ultimate "extras" are of no use whatsover to me. So my question is basically can i install the Business version with my ultimate key ? (is it "downwards" compatible in a way ?). I don't understand why ultimate is the only one with 64bit in the box. It doesn't make sense to me. It would have been much more logical for the Business version to be the one with 64bit in the box.

i realize my CPU is kind of a weak link in my set up but i've had excellent results overclocking it until i moved to vista. I previously ran XP Professional SP3 and had the system overclock to 3.1Ghz with no issues. The CPU temp ran at full load around 39C. Before i upgraded to vista i set all system settings back to default did my upgrade and then proceeded to push my overclock again. No matter when i changed my settings to it would show only the 2.8Ghz for processer speed in system settings. According to my motherboard the bus speed and multiplier are set high enough to obtain the 3.1 overclock again but the system settings are showing it only at 2.8Ghz.
I have been thinking for a while, should/could I overclock my system. I do not have special cooling features.. just 3 Air cooling fans (CPU, huge side fan, standard back fan).
k My signature gives you all my system Specs. i was wondering if anyone here has a similar setup and overclocked their system. and hoped they gave me the settings they used. so if anybody out there overclocked their system with similar specs (all stock) just lemme know what voltages or timings and everything.
I have an ASUS P5W-DH Deluxe mainboard, it is running the Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66 CPU, and 2x 1GB DDR2 667 Ram, I have never overclocked a PC before so I don't even know where to start.
im new to the concept of overclocking, i dont really want to atempt it but i do have a question. Is it possible to overclock CPU without using BIOS? When i go inside my CMOS setup i cant go into CPU settings.
Just wanted to post the difference between my two different cases. I used to have a CoolerMaster and now have as you know an Antec 1200. Here is the difference in temps. I also do not overclock
i bought a eVGA 9800gtx and it wouldn't overclock.I thought it was my power supply and bought a new one old PSU=420W and 900GTX requires 450 so I bought a 460 and still I cannot overclock. I use rivatuner and set my clocks and click OK then it reverts back to stock. And same with eVGA precision.
I purchased a new PC in early 2007 that came with XP. A month or so later I received the Vista upgrade CD which I have never installed. I intend to buy Windows 7 when it becomes available and wish to minimize my system upgrade problems as much as possible. Based on my understanding I would have to do a complete harddrive erase to install Win 7 and then reinstall all my applications. If possible and practical I'd like to upgrade XP to Vista and then Vista to Windows 7. My question am I likely to have problems going from a current up to date version of XP to a 2+ year old version of Vista which would require many updates to bring up to the current level?.
For all you 680i users running Vista 32bit AND successfully using sleep mode, please post your settings here... "Successfully" means that:
1. Your system actually wakes up and none of your devices, such as mouse, keyboard, usb drives, bluetooth, and other devices, etc. are disconnected and/or malfunctioning...
2. In particular, are you still connected to the internet without resetting your network adapter (presuming you were connected before bedtime and presuming you're using the on-board NIC)
post your chipset driver versions and sleep mode settings... My settings are listed below and my system WON'T SLEEP "successfully"... bluetooth mouse and keyboard crash, and my internet connection is trashed:.....
I'm aware that the Sempron can be cleverly overclocked, i was wondering the best way to go about this. Whether it be best to go by the Few Bios settings im able to change or to install software to help manage. Has anyone tried with a similar system, and can share insight on what is the best settings to utilise.
I want to overclock this card but i do not have an idea of what i am doing. Could you give some advice? I want to run Crysis a little smoother but can't buy another card at the moment.
