Recently windows installed office geniune advantage notification software. I am runniing Vista Home Premium SP2 with Office XP. When I load an office program a window pops up that says my copy is not geniune. How can I get rid of this? I can't find it to uninstall it.
View 4 RepliesI just finished restoring my computer and installing updates and my office software asked to validate itself over the internet and when it was done it left a folder called Office Genuine Advantage in my user folder. My office is genuine so this isn't a hide the notification thing or anything, just that there is an annoying folder in my user folder. All it contains is another folder (Data) which itself contains only one file, oaddin.dat. Can I delete this folder or is it and the one file there for a reason?

Today I installed a full version of Microsoft Office 2007, without removing any of the other two versions from my computer. I realized that it seemed to automatically remove the older version. I`m not bother about it not being there, as I got the new version, but I wonder if this is an automatic uninstalling that Office does, or if the version is still there but I can`t see it, as I would like to remove it properly if it`s still somewhere in my computer.
I checked in Control Panel & the only thing I can see is "Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007", the full version I just installed, & everything that come with it. No 2003 anywhere.
I know you can do this document-by-document by opening each document individually and clicking "Upgrade" or whatever, but is there a way to convert all your Office documents at once?

I bought a Windows 7 Ultimate DVD off ebay (don't laugh), but what I actually got I'm not sure is legal so I'd appreciate some advice before doing the return/refund thing. The disc was advertised as genuine with a product key. When it arrived however this DVD is an obvious copy burnt on a PC, not a factory made disc. There was no product key but a piece of paper with activation instructions. at this url is a picture of the DVD and also a scan of the instructions that came with it. The activation instructions were printed on an A4 piece of paper.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've had this problem before, but it went away when I installed the latest service pack update. I got it again about a week ago, though, and there were no new service packs to install, so I'm not quite sure how to go about fixing it. The message at the bottom of the screen is: "Build 6002, This copy of Windows is not genuine." I also get a pop-up box saying "you may be a victim of product counterfitting" when I start up my computer.
I tried looking at some of the other threads here relating to this subject, but they didn't seem to work for me. I've tried two main solutions so far, neither of which worked. The first was to restore the licensing file through the cmd prompt, then rebooting twice (found that solution THIS COPY OF WINDOWS IS NOT GENUINE - WHY? there), the second was to type slui.exe 4 into the search bar and hope for a telephone number to activate by phone, which seems to work for some people. I can't get the telephone number to show up, though. It just gives me the screen to buy a new product key online, try a different one, or a link to the Help box on validation. My copy came with my computer, and I tried the code on the bottom of my laptop, but it says that code isn't valid, so

I recently ordered 500 Vista desktops and 150 Vista laptops from a vendor preloaded with a RTM edition of Vista Business. When we started loading Office 2007 this week, the Windows Installer stopped four times with errors. Vista gave a message saying we should upgrade to the retail version of Vista (I wish I could send a screenshot). After checking the build level we saw it was build 6000. My team checked some MSDN blogs and saw build 6000 is not viewed as a genuine Vista build. What do I do?! If this is the case, I'm not going to be able to meet my SLA with my Enterprise users.

And yes I'm telling the truth, it really is my step-brother with the problem, and not just me using him as a scapegoat to save my e-pride . But anyway I told him a thousand times to look for help online, but every time he just answers with something nonsensical like "No I shouldn't have to. Bill Gates should just make better hardware." Occasionally when I check Windows Update I get a message that an important update is available and I guess I would have to manually install it. For example, now important update Office Genuine Advantage Notifications is available for me to install. Why are most Windows important updates automatically installed and an occasional Windows important update is made available for me to manually install?

This takes up the whole screen and I cannot exit unless I press OK. After my desktop is fully loaded a message comes up saying that Windows Aero has stopped working, you may be a victim of counterfeiting. There is then a link which takes me to Genuine Microsoft Software. I then run the validation test and pass. Also sometimes there is a message in white writing in the corner of my desktop which says:

This copy of Windows is not genuine. My Vista Ultimate is 100% genuine.
The discussion group help pages states that the "Your Profile" page will appear for completion as part of my first post. If it doesn't, my genuine email address will appear instead of a false one. If the "Your Profile" page does open, this post is superfluous.
View 5 Replies View Relatedso I finally said the heck with it.. and I disabled the UAC.. becuase it's very very irritating for it to stop EVERYTHING I do on my system.. But, every single time I restart my Machine I get the little popup, and the notification that it's been changed and the little RED X warning in system tray. I don't like seein a bad mark when nothing is wrong.. so I went into the setting and found a place where I could click do not notify, but show Icon.. so now the popup is gone, but it's still there.. is there ANY way I can completely get rid of it so It doesn't bother me every singe time I restart my system... just a thought.. let me kno please.

I go Taskbar and Start Menu Properties --> Notification Area and then i tick Hide Inactive Icons but the arrow is still missing.
Any idea please how can i fix this problem.
My volume icon and network icon have disappeared from notification bar.
I go to the taskbar properties to check on thing and the sport to click these icons are grayed out.
The notification area, down by the time, has 13 icons showing. And there isn't any "<" or ">" symbol near them at all. Is there setting that I touched on accident that disabled the notification area's ability to collapse after a certain number of icons are displayed? Or, is it normal for it to show 13 icons without collapsing....

I noticed that I havent gotten a notification in awhile, usually WU has updates available every week. when I check for updates through WU, it says its up to date.. ( with the exception of an optional update for SilverLight..) last install was 8/15. but there are defender updates after that date installed, ( defender update has its own settings I'm guessing at this point?? ) Attached is a snip of the update window...kinda paranoid that I'm either not getting updates, or they are still being installed without notification?
View 4 Replies View RelatedNot sure which newsgroup I should be using. Hope this is the right one. I have an avast icon in the Notification area. Each time it completed an virus data base update, it would pop up and make a verbal announcement. It is quite annoying, and sometimes disruptive. I tried to hide it by : right click task bar > Properties > Notification Area > Customize > select Hide on avast! ( both ). Won't work. Still shows up for an announcement.
