I have a procedure as part of a database system that calls MapiSendDocuments from mapi32.dll thiis onlly appears to work when windows mail is closed. If it is open the email generation fails. Is there an option in windows mail that I have missed or is there a way to allow this remote function call to work with windows mail open?
View 4 RepliesFor the past few weeks I've been getting episodes of Windows Mail closing and reporting that "Data Execution Prevention has closed Windows Mail". It seems to occur when I'm in the middle of preparing a message - it has never occurred when I clicked "Send/Receive". The problem first occurred a few hours after receiving a message with three PDFs totaling 5 MB in size. When this first occurred I had the current version of NOD32 (3.0.642) running but I turned off email scanning and the problem still happens every few days. On two of the crashes Windows Mail reported it couldn't find a few messages, and some messages were gone from my Inbox, but after deleting one or two such messages I was able to get back all the missing email. Is the best bet that NOD32 corrupted my email files? Are there other possibilities I should be thinking of or testing for? Is there some way to keep things like this from happening without ditching all my old mail?

View 6 Replies View Relatedim having a problem with my hibernation mode when my laptop is shut. when i close the laptop, windows restarts and leaves an error code when started up again. the computer runs fine besides this, and is days old i might add. i have recently updated through microsoft, 'a shut down update' standard procedure. before this update hibernation worked fine. i dont know if this could have anything to do with it, but regardless i am new with vista.

I discovered that I CAN access my Yahoo email using OE. My new laptop has windows mail that will not work. I'd love to make the current MS Mail work but I suspect it will just be easier to install OE if possible? unless you know some way to get past my "Mediacom" port blocks?

This pop up appears relentlessly - about once every 30 seconds, and i can see the system performance hitting 100% CPU for 5 seconds or so each time it does.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought a program called Topalt to delete a lot of duplicate messages and now Windows Mail won't work. All my folders have disappeared except the Inbox and some newsgroup folders but none of them are accessible anyway. The folders themselves are still all physically where they should be, however, and as far as I can tell they're ok.
So how can I repair Windows Mail? My Vista Home Premium came preinstalled on an HP laptop. I don't have an installation CD as such. I did a repair partition wipe and installed Acronis as a recovery tool. Unfortunately, it's been several weeks since I last did a file backup, so to use that for repair would not be at all convenient.

1. A newsgroup show 8 messages unread, but when I click on 'Next unread message' Mail said 'there are no more messages, got to next newsgroup?'. It is the only newsgroup that shows this.
2. A blank screen, something I can't explain, appeared over the screen of Mail. I could not access the Start Button. I did an and picked 'Task Manager', but it never appeared.
3. I could do to get to another application or the desktop, but nothing else. I tried to shut down and but couldn't get to the button. Nothing would work.
This isn't the first time Windows Mail had done strainge things. At present it show no messages but when I first click this newsgroup it show thousands of messages.

I have to delete the program and reload each time to check for new mail. The check for new mail box is ticked by the way. And the Send/Receive button produces - the same result - all tasks failed.

For the first 6 months, Windows Mail worked just fine but now when I try to print messages, it locks up and none of the buttons work. The only way I can get it to respond again is by using the Task Manager to shut it down and then restart it. And even then it sometimes will not work.

So I uninstalled it but the shortcut remained on the desktop and now I cannot delete it. I already have the patch for removing undeletable emails stuck in windows mail, but that obviously doesn't work for anything outside the mail program.

On a second account I get the windows security box asking for username and password and even when I enter them correctly I get the box again. When I cancel I get the following error message:
