For the past few weeks I've been getting episodes of Windows Mail closing and reporting that "Data Execution Prevention has closed Windows Mail". It seems to occur when I'm in the middle of preparing a message - it has never occurred when I clicked "Send/Receive". The problem first occurred a few hours after receiving a message with three PDFs totaling 5 MB in size. When this first occurred I had the current version of NOD32 (3.0.642) running but I turned off email scanning and the problem still happens every few days. On two of the crashes Windows Mail reported it couldn't find a few messages, and some messages were gone from my Inbox, but after deleting one or two such messages I was able to get back all the missing email. Is the best bet that NOD32 corrupted my email files? Are there other possibilities I should be thinking of or testing for? Is there some way to keep things like this from happening without ditching all my old mail?
I get an error message right after installing Google Calendar Sync. also when I try to launch it. Google Calendar Has Stopped Working (Data Execution Prevention has closed this app.)

*How do I turn Data Execution Prevention off?* people keep telling me how to turn it off for a specific program. i dont need that. here's the problem: when i turn my computer on all thats on my desktop is the background. no start menu, no tool bar at all for that matter, no icons, nothing but the background. a box pops up that says that the "data execution program" is on. i close the box and nothing happens. still nothing on the desktop but the background. how to a fix this when i cant even get into the control panel or anything because its not there!
I am have an awful time with DEP not allowing me access to several sites and downloads. I get the DEP is shuting down Internet Explorer. I have tried everything. I've been on Window's website looking for answers...nothing helps. I would love to banish DEP from my computer!! Anyone with the same problem??? My computer is only a few months old runs on Vista 64 bit and is shuting down on items I have logged onto forever!
The Data Execution Prevention options are grayed out. I am the administrator and no matter what i try it will not let me click on a button. Is there a fix for this?
I need to install a FM Patcher program so some of my older plug-in will work in Photo Shop and PSP.
When I installed the patcher I get this error message that I have attached.FM Patcher is a small application that lets you change Photoshop .8bf plugins that were created with older versions of FilterMeister in order to make them work under Windows Vista. Normally developers just need to recompile their plugins with the latest FilterMeister release to make them Vista-compatible, but unfortunately some developers abandoned their plugins. So we decided to create FM Patcher to enable users of these old plugins to make them work under Vista.
At the moment Fm Patcher does not fix the problem that old FilterMeister plugins have with activated Data Execution Prevention (DEP). You still need to deactivate DEP in your control panel or place your graphics application on the DEP exclusion list.
I recently upgraded to the latest version of Live messenger. The sign in takes ages and once signed in I am immediately dropped out with a message that says 'Windows Live communications platform has stopped working'. Then I get another message saying 'To protect your computer Data Execution Prevention has closed windows Live communications platform.' I have looked at the 'help' description of this message, and whilst I understand what it is, I dont understand why its happening to me! I have tried uninstalling & the reinstalling, but same message. I have Trend micro internet security pro 2008. I have run numerous scans, but only ever get medium risk cookies showing up. Mind you I get the same ones everyday.
I had a problem with my Microsoft Vista print spooler (spoolsv.exe) stopping on Data Execution Prevention (DEP) violations from the time I installed my HP and Lexmark printers. This has been only an irritation to date as I have set the spooler to always restart 1 minute after failure. However lately I am having more programs stop on DEP violation. The Microsoft Vista??? WMI Provider Host??? has stopped several times on DEP. I do not know what the ???Vista WMI Provider Host??? does. I did not see any adverse results with the Microsoft Vista??? WMI Provider Host??? stopped. So far my DEP violations have been random and inconsistent. The print spooler stops on DEP even when both printers are off. I have performed hardware checks as recommended by Dell and the computer hardware tested OK.
I had DEP enabled in my Bios setup, but have just had my OS reinstalled (Vista Home Premium 32 bit) and now cannot find DEP mentioned by that name in the Bios settings. There is reference to "No-Execute Memory Protection"-is that DEP by another name, and if so do you agree it is a good idea to enable it?
Everytime my computer starts up, it says Rundll32 stopped working, then a popup saying it was shut down by DATA EXECUTION PREVENTION. It also happens when I open Control Panel and a few other programs....

Firefox frequently stops working and this seems to have something to do DEP (Data Execution Prevention) as the DEP icon appears in th system tray after each crash. I have tried to turn off DEP for Firefox but system insists that Firefox must run with DEP on.
Is there a way to totally disable Data Execution Prevention? I've been using Windows since it's initial release, and I've always gotten along fine without this annoying feature. It's more trouble than it's worth in my estimation, and I'd like nothing better than to get rid of it completely.
Recently installed a video converters (Stoik Video Converter). However, when I try uninstalling it, I receive the following message, "Setup.exe has stopped working". After I close the dialog window, I see a popup on the task bar that says Setup.exe was closed due to Data Execution Prevention. Kind of frustrating that I can't even uninstall the program. Error details below:

Looked across several forums and haven't found any answer to this type of question
I have a procedure as part of a database system that calls MapiSendDocuments from mapi32.dll thiis onlly appears to work when windows mail is closed. If it is open the email generation fails. Is there an option in windows mail that I have missed or is there a way to allow this remote function call to work with windows mail open?
When I open Windows Explorer, it goes to Windows/System32 rather than to Documents where it was when closed. What is the mechanism here? How do I get Windows Explorer to re-open where it closed?
im having a problem with my hibernation mode when my laptop is shut. when i close the laptop, windows restarts and leaves an error code when started up again. the computer runs fine besides this, and is days old i might add. i have recently updated through microsoft, 'a shut down update' standard procedure. before this update hibernation worked fine. i dont know if this could have anything to do with it, but regardless i am new with vista.
dell studio 15' windows vista home premium 64 bit service pack 1 the problem signature is specified: "Windows has recovered from an unexpected shutdown" Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BlueScreen OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3..............
I also have a network sharing service problem - Vista displays, occasion (and I havent worked out WHAT occasions yet): "windows media player network sharing service stopped working and was closed" - followed by some bullsŁ$t about windows informing me of a solution when it becomes available. This pop up appears relentlessly - about once every 30 seconds, and i can see the system performance hitting 100% CPU for 5 seconds or so each time it does.
I have Vista Ultimate with 2 User ids (mine as admin, wife's as user). On my new PC I installed the ASUS utilities under my id. When I log on with my id the ASUS utiities execute with no UAC intervention (load at startup). When my wife logs on (uses account), several ASUS programs (part of aisuite) start up and require a UAC interaction to approve the execution. The request displays in the Task Bar. Is there an option where UAC does not request execution approval under my wife's id?
I get the "Server execution failed. Connection status: unknown" message when I roll over the network icon in the status bar. In addition, I cannot open the Network window in the start menu. When I try to open it, the computer hangs for several minutes, then opens up an empty window. I've tried searching around on the internet, but the solutions I found didn't work. The error message started a few months ago. I never cared much, because although I got the message, my internet worked. I was able to connect to my home network, but not change networks. But now, I am unable to connect even to my home network. I have Windows Vista Home Premium. This seems to be a somewhat common problem, but I don't know how to fix it. I have not installed/deinstalled anything in the last few days, so I don't think any software caused this problem.
I have installed Windows Vista in system. After logging into my system, when the desktop appears, i am seeing a command prompt running the below files each time i am logging in C:Windowssystem32tvdm.exeC:UsersusernameApp DataRoamingsupportsvchost.exe
I would like to know what these .exe files are basically and how to make this prompt window prevent from appearing each time when i am logging in. Whether this affects the OS & any of the system files/drivers or whether this is a virus, trojan or any kind of that.
Data Protection is a counterfeit application which pretends to be a legitimate security tool. It is also from the same rogue family as Digital Protection, Your Protection, User Protection, Dr. Guard and Paladin Antivirus. The trojan based software starts its activities as soon as it installs onto your computer. Malware has no ability to detect and terminate the parasite. It only gains that user lose their vigilance and would buy a registered version of Data Protection application.
This is a fraud and dangerous for your computer. Behind an offer stands bad people who will use your money for malicious intentions. This application is not worth spending your money. As any malware this one will scan your computer automatically and will show fake results. You should ignore it. Do not fall for this blatant scam. Data Protection can also redirect your web browser to deceptive web pages that advertises “full” version of the security tool. Do not buy it, but choose decent anti-spyware application and terminate Data Protection upon detection. - the conclusion is that Malware bytes does remove it,, you need to download the lastest malware byte or update the one you got. The networking aspect of vista on my notebook has crapped out again. I can still connect, but i cant change options or anything. This is the second time this happened. I am going to reinstall vista anyways, because it needs a fresh install, but does anybody have a fix for this problem? Or should I just call tech support and have them deal with it?
I would like to install Windows 7 on top of my existing Vista Ultimate installation thus retaining all the programs and data. I realize this may not be the best way to move to the new OS but I can't bear the thought of having to reinstall all the programs if I do a clean install. Will it be possible to do this and if so, what are the drawbacks?
My computer shut down telling me that windows had stopped to protect my data. I then went to restart but on the black screen recovery console I can no longer choose which option I want ie. boot with safe mode, safe mode with networking or command prompt. My keys will not move the selector bar. I also now find that when I insert my Vista Premium 32 bit disc to utilise the repair windows function it keeps just rebooting to the desktop. My 1st boot drive is my dvd. How can I get past this startup problem?
I recently got updates and now my IE 8 keeps locking me out of websites that I regulary visit, say DEP has closed the program. I am a novice at the computer It also shuts down when I use other Internet programs like firefox.
