Mail Missing Appear And Disappear In Inbox
May 8, 2008The problem is that we seem to have mail appear in the inbox and then disappear. Is it possible this is an issue with the anti-virus mail scan.

Inbox Folders Disappear
Apr 3, 2008Am using Windows Mail v6 on a Toshiba Satellite laptop and after I have sent a couple of email messages and then want to move the sent messages to relevant folders, my personal folders under the inbox together with the standard mail folders (i.e. outbox etc) have disappeared. I close Windows Mail and open again and the relevant folders still do not appear. Only once I have restarted my pc will the folders then appear. It is most frustrating. I am running the latest home version of AVG Anti Virus.

May 3, 2010Have Win Vista and Windows Mail. Have messgae stuck in Inbox. Deleted InBox folder in User/AppData/Local/Microsoft/WindowsMail. Reopen Mail and message are still there. Look in InBox folder and all message are now gone, however. Where is Mail really getting it's messages from?

Oct 28, 2009On ocassion a message will disappear from my inbox.This has happen before my eyes. I recall reading on this forum a possible conflict with AVG free?? I have checked my settings with the phishing on and junk set to low. AVG is set to scan both in and outgoing mail. This has always happen with a message I want to keep in a folder and never with run of the mill stuff.

Mar 23, 2008Just two days ago my mail disappears on my screen from my inbox. I noticed that after the mailbox symbol appears open, the mail disappears until they are all gone. I searched for them and found them. I copied them all to my inbox so I could see them but then it did it again. Somewhere I saw that they are all there in my inbox, I just can't see them.

Aug 7, 2009I have suddenly started having problems with mail messages disappearing from my inbox. The messages come into my POP3 server and then disappear after I read them. The remain on the ATT Yahoo server and when I try to forward the message to myself, they disappear again. The messages do not appear in the deleted items folder or in my spam folder. I have run a virus scan with no apparent virus.

Feb 14, 2009I have two websites that have 4 email addresses that I have forwared to my personal email inbox (Windows Mail). This way I can have all my emails in one place and I dont have to visit more than one spot to check emails. I am hosting with Network Solutions. I went online to Network Solutions and confirmed that I have set up the protocols so that all my website emails are being forwarded to my personal email address. Everything is set up correctly and I haven't had any problems in the last year until 2 days ago. I sent out test emails and nothing is coming into my personal email address. Nada. However, if i address and email directly to my personal email address, the email comes in and everything is fine. There seems to be a glitch with the website email addresses being forwarded to my personal email. Also, when I went online to Net. Solutions, the emails are not on the server there. It is a mystery. Just thought I'd put this topic out there and see if any Mr. or Mrs. Fix It would come along and put me out of my misery.

What I did previously was right click "inbox", new folder, name it and there it appeared eg RC,type "vista" and a subfolder called vista would appear. If I then wanted to create a sub subfolder I would RC over Vista, type " problems" and that would then appear as a subfolder of vista...........

Mar 31, 2009My computer crashed and I currently have my hard drive set up externally to copy the information off of it onto another computer. I was using Windows Mail that came with Vista on my old computer when it crashed. I've been able to salvage my data, but would like to find my messages stored in my Inbox in Windows Mail. I cannot open the program (Windows Mail) currently, but will be able to open it when my new computer arrives. For now, I'm copying needed files off my hard drive and storing them temporarily on my children's computer. I do not know what folders from Windows Mail, or Windows perhaps, that I need to save in order to hopefully open my saved inbox messages.

Mar 6, 2009I am trying to help with windows Vista basic IE 8 (had IE7) with problem downloading files which then just do not get saved to disk where it should be (or anywhere for that matter). The user account is has administrator privilages but it seems as if for downloads they do not or at least it acts that way. It is not even running the programs when told to in the download choices. It goes through the normal appearance of downloading and saving the file from the temp folder but then poof is not saved to disk at designated store point.
I have used a work around for now by using the Administrator account and can download through that but do not want to expose that account for long. Is there some permission or registry fix for this problem. I have checked all IE settings in control panel but they are all good for downloads. I did install IE 8 to ssee if that would fix problem but still the same.
Sent Mail Missing
Oct 26, 2009I went to look for a message I sent on 10/24/09 and found all the items in my sent file are missing. Settings have not been changed so what has caused this problem.

Sep 21, 2009I been having this problem with my Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit. Basically it has been happening over the past 2-3 days. What the problem is that when I start up my laptop it boots up and loads everything on start-up then about 10 - 15 seconds after my desktop icons disappear. I have googled the problem and read some solutions but none have worked.
I have tried to go into regedit and make sure the shell was set to explorer.exe, ran scans with Webroot Anti-virus with Anti-spyware, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, also SuperAnti-Spyware. I ran these both in regular Windows start up and in safe mode. Also when I go to processes I will end the explorer process and then create a new task "explorer.exe" it appears with the desktop than again 10 - 15 seconds it disappears. My computer is new only about two weeks old now.

I can go in and change the taskbar setting and change the background back, and I right click on the desktop to remove and then reset the check mark the "Show Desktop Icons" under the view option and I can continue along my merry way. But when I shut down and power back on, everything disappears again.

I know for a fact that the gateway server they go through does NOT turn them into RTF or anything... It was all working fine and then it stopped. May 3, 2008I am running Vista Home Premium SP1 with all recent updates on an Acer 5420 laptop. However, while using Explorer to look at folders with jpg, bmp, and other image files; I see the thumbnails quickly generated only to have them disappear and be replaced with a generic icon for the file type. Video files (wmv, mpg, etc.) have "persistent" thumbnails. After searching for possible solutions I have applied, or confirmed, the appropriate options for Explorer -- uncheck the Show icons, never thumbnail option, etc. Additionally, the system performace is set to "best appearance" (It has also been set to about every other possiblity as well). Various registry modifications have been applied -- with no resolution. The system has been restarted after each change in configuration. Refresh will "flash" the thumbnails for a split second before returning to the generic icons.
This is driving me crazy, not to mention wasted a couple days of productive time. Since the thumbnail view is so critical to my daily work, I purchased a third party file utility (PowerDesk) whose thumbnail functions are flawless. I would stay wit this solution except for the fact that my workplace doesn't want to purchase license for multiple copies of PowerDesk, when Explorer should be more than adequate. Why won't Vista's explorer perform as it should? (Other than, "you should have stuck with XP!" I would have loved to have stayed with XP, but it wasn't my decision to migrate -- downgrade IMHO -- to Vista.)
