I have a Problem with my Windows Vista Business Service Pack 2. I lost my menu "Notepad" in submenu, when I right-click on the Desktop. And to select "New". Normaly I have Notepad in submenu, but my Notebook was upgrate to Service Pack 2. After it finish, I never find Notpad. I have a picture to show. It hasn't Notpad in submenu on "New".

View 8 Replies View RelatedSomehow, the submenu in the Start menu, where the shutdown/restart links are, doesn’t display the links (illustration is attached). I also have the same problem with the Quick Launch; when I click on the arrow to expand more icons, the submenu come up showing only a vague outline of the submenu box and no list. However, when I turn on my computer under Safe mode, the submenu is actually working fine and is showing all the links. For now, I just do Ctrl-Alt-Del to restart or shutdown. Everything else seemed to work alright. I have Windows Vista Home Premium SP2 32bit.

I have already tried the various ways of adding the shortcut to the toolbar, but they all seem to open C: in a new window as opposed to operating as a menu a la the All Programs menu. Is there some option that I have to tinker with in order to get it to work the way I want to?

I use an ancient program to replace Windows native notepad. It is called 'Notpad'. Imagine typing that into a search, you get a suggestion that you meant 'Notepad' and no relevant info.The program is discontinued. However, it worked fine in Viats x64.
Until a few days ago. I cannot execute the program. It shows up in task manager. Clicking .txt files does nothimg. When I delete the notpad.exe and replace it with the original from zip, nothing.
I have a program that installs as a subfolder of the Program Files (x86) folder. Inside the main folder of the application is a file, SpecDat.xxx. The application, when run, needs to change this file. If I run this application from an administrator account, it comes back with a Error '53': File Not Found error. After some extended debugging by both me and the author, we discovered it wasn't updating this file.
When I tried to update this file manually using Notepad, Notepad wouldn't save it either. After more research, I ran the application by right-clicking and selecting "run as an administrator". Now it works, even though I'm always running it from an administrator account.
Is there anyway I can delete all the spaces in a document without going thru it one space at a time?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am running Windows Vista Home premium 64bit with 8gb ram and an hp c309a printer. My problem is that vista take a long time to print even just a 1 word paper using notepad. Also when i right click the printer in the printer folder it also take time to open the properties, aprox 3 minutes. So if i try to print it takes 3 minutes just to open the tab to click print and to select the printer i wish to use. The c309a is connected by usb cable, and i have tried re-installing the latest drivers and firmware for the printer as well as different usb cables and each of my usb ports. Yet for some reason there is a long 3+ minute pause when trying to print. I have also tried using the network feature and I still have same trouble. Also i have checked to make sure print spooling is on in services. HP has a utility to check for issues for both network and for usb, and the printer passes each test fine. I have done so many full uninstalls and installing of the software as well as the cable changes it is driving me nuts. I have been google'ing for days and days and have had no luck in fixing this issue. One last comment every time i try to print the applications I am using freeze for the 3+ minutes and the window application shows "application not responding", but after 3+ minutes i can finally select the printer and hit print, then at that point it freezes again for about 2 minutes and then prints. I have run multiple virus scans and multiple spyware detection programs and have also run online virus scans using bitdefend and trendmicro as well and i have no virus or spyware. I have also ran "hijackThis" and been told my system appears clean.

But the problem didnt stop yet.Now when i click any programs or anything a message comes with: this file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the set associations control panel. But this when i click right mouse button and run as start it works Like open run as adminstator then start button and this is happening to every program No program is running in the time of start up. even not antivirus or any program i need to click start to run any program

On my desktop, i recently found that there was an entry in my ALL PROGRAMS, that was "Programs". 3. That's a Difference of 20.2 GB & I Checked Show hidden files and folders & Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files.
4. 33.2 GB is the size of my Compressed Backup on my Acronis TrueImage11 C Drive Backup to an External HD, so I think the 48.3 GB is true. Where could the 20.2 GB be hiding?
Yesterday, I opened a document (Office Student 2007) from my e-mail account on the web (not Outlook)
I clicked "Save" repeatedly throughout the day and was never prompted to select "Save As" and when I X'd out, it did not say "Are you sure you want to close without saving?" so, I assumed all was well. However,when I went back to open it, it wasn't there. I searched all the folders, hidden folders, temp internet files, etc. but cannot find it!
I was clicking "Save" so it has to be saved somewhere, right?
Previously was dual booting vista x86 and windows7 x64 off same hard drive.
I decided to replace vista x86 with vista x64, On boot up i have no longer got my bootloader as it just boots straight to vista x64.
If i use win7 disc and do bootrec /fixmbr will this retore bootloader or just default boot to win7?
Hi there, the flienames are no longer being displayed when I view the contents of C: drive as icons. I am aware of how to hide/show filenames for any folder other than system ones using the ctrl key and 'View' menu, however this does not work with C: drive. Any ideas how I can get the filenames back with the icon views for this folder?
