Mar 23, 2008jpg pictures have a yellow tint in the default viewer in Windows Vista Ultimate x64. Small previews in Windows Explorer do not have that tint.

Dec 15, 2008Can anyone tell me what the default Vista picture viewer is and where the program folder is so i can make it the default picture viewer again?
I think it may be something like Windows Picture Viewer lol, but i need to find the program folder.
Change The Default Edit Program In Pictures Context Menu
Jan 25, 2010This is the Context Menu that I'm referring to, accessed by Start>Pictures>[Open a Folder to display thumbnails], Right-click on Thumbnail. With my current settings [where?], if I select and click on Edit, MS Windows Paint opens as the Default Editing Program. I don't like Paint at all, and want to change from that current Default Program, to allow my Pictures to be opened and edited by Picasa. Is there a method by which I can change that Context Menu, so that by clicking on Edit, the selected thumbnail automatically opens in Picasa And before anyone leaps in and suggests any other editing program from the plethora of others available [eg. Photoshop etc.], please don't waste your time - I'm not interested in them, as Picasa fulfills all of my basic photo editing requirements. Basically, I'm looking for a shortcut to open Picasa with just one click, as I'm aware that I can also get there through Open with, in the same Context Menu.

Mar 2, 2009I may be flamed "for not using the search" on this one, but I did. I didn't scour, as I'm about to go to sleep, but I did notice the mention of Auslogics quite a few times. That's my current defragger, as the default defragger in Vista, I'd say, is pathetic. My question, though, is: Is there anything else? What is the best way to defragment Vista? I don't know if it's a juvenile idea, but in XP, I was always comfortable using the defragmenting tool the OS came with because.. it was for XP, and it worked. You saw the progress. As for Vista's, it shows nothing, there's no visual progress, and every time I use it, it stays on for days on end if I do not end it myself. Auslogics seems to work alright, I see the progress, but I can't verify it's potency and power myself. Plus, I didn't pay. Seems to good to be true. Can someone point me in the right direction, or correct me if need be?

Nov 22, 2007I have been using Vista Ultimate x64 for the last 5 months and have to say it's been a massive learing curve due to its fragility - 4 full rebuilds in the last 4 months - and not much fun when using SATA RAID. Anyway, got up yesterday morning, turned on the computer and it had managed to corrupt itself yet again: Windows Defender, Windows Picture Viewer and a host of desktop icons refused to find their pathways home and so decided against a full rebuild and started the repair option with a boot to the DVD. I set this off running and went to work at 12:30pm...
I came back 5 hours later and still had the dialog box " Finalising Registry" running on my screen! Well, a quick restart and i tried the upgrade option once back in Vista from the DVD. This then took and unbelievable 7 hours to complete and was finally ready - after updates - at 01:20am this morning, but a full clean install would have taken about 1-2 hours to finish, so i'll be doing that in future!.........
Windows Update: Event Viewer Won't Load
Jan 15, 2010I've googled this probelm and seen many people with same/similar. i've been trying for days to fix it with no success. i'll provide as much info as i can after running windows update my event viewer won't load with this error message - mmc has detected an error in a snap in and will unload it and 2 options:
1) report error to microsoft and shut down mmc
2)unload snap in and continue running............................

Is there a way to migrate Hotmail to Windows Mail, or a way to replace Windows Mail with what I had when I was using 32 bit Vista? I had IE 8 with 32 bit and I have IE 8 with 64 bit.

Mar 16, 2009I have a small yellow triangle over many of my program short cut icons on my desktop. I click the program and can not tell why the triagle is there. The programs seem to run okay.
When I go to control pannel-device manager, I have no triagles over any hardware, same if I go into my programs in the hard drive.
It looks like about half the icons on my desk top have this little triagle over them, such as my short cut "network Sharing center" "Webcam Companion" "iexplorer shortcut" "windows update" and a few other programs I have short cuts on the desk top for.
I am using Vista Home premium 64 bit.

May 15, 2010I have recently had strange pixilated images mixed in with our photos when playing music and selecting slide show, our photos appear along with random images, they are not coming from MY PICTURES folder as i have right clicked when the odd pic appears and they are coming from random folders that i can't find.
I thought the strange graphics were coming from itunes or Tom Tom so i have uninstalled them both...but the images keep coming. How do i stop media center looking and producing these annoying images
Pictures Disappeared From Pictures Folder!
Aug 26, 2009All the pictures in my Pictures folder have disappeared, leaving behind a bunch of empty folders. I did not delete them, and I have no viruses according to AVG. It appears that this happened to a few others on this forum, but no solutions were presented. I noticed that the Read Only button was checked on the main folder, so I unchecked it, and I watched the status window un-apply "read only" protection from all my actual pictures files, so it seems to me that they're still there but invisible.
I performed a system restore, and Recova is in the process of performing a "Deep Scan" for my pictures (the quicker scan did not find the files). Has anyone solved the problem of the disappearing pictures? Is this a Vista problem, or perhaps a problem with an update?

Jul 5, 2008In my Vista 32 Bit Home Premium there is a yellow triangle icon with an exclamation mark inside it. I don't know what it is and it won't respond if I double click it or mouse over it. Does anyone know what this is?

Windows Mail Is Not Attaching Pictures
May 15, 2010I insert pictures, not attach them, in mails. When I look at the message the pictures are in the body of my e-mail, but when recipients open the mail there is a red cross in a white square instead of the picture and the picture is attached. There is a difference in the html code when I compare the one in the mail I send and the one from the received mail, Windows Mail "corrects" or "inserts" things in the code the moment I send it (that's what I can understand).

Mar 20, 2009I have a Vista 64 OS on an HP m9100z computer. It has an internal card reader. The reader used to work fine. But now (have live update on) the Card reader does not work properly. The reader is detected but with the yellow warning sign. When I plug in a card it does not show up in the drives and the warning sign would still be displayed. Removing the drivers and rebooting did not change the issue. But if I remove the driver and plug in a card and redetect or reboot while the card is in the reader it works properly. Any idea what is happening. The reader is an HP 10 in 1 reader.

Jan 10, 2008I installed Photoshop CS3 today on Vista x64 Ultimate and gave it whizz to see if it worked ok - which it did - but i noticed that the start menu headings for the Photoshop programs are highlighted in yellow. Here's a screen grab:
The thing is, when i right-click on the yellow highlights to send the Photoshop icon to my desktop as a shortcut, i get no menu just the Aero mouse cursor rotating for a split-second and then the right-click doesn't work at all nor the shut-down button doesn't work! Now, i got the program off a mate who assured me it was from an original disc, but now i'm not too sure as it has all the hallmarks of a copy with a dodgy attachment - and no, i didn't see the disc in question as i just transfered the data from a folder on his drive onto a USB pen.

May 13, 2009I'm not sure why but all of a sudden when people try to send me pictures, they wont open. I get this message...Windows can not find "so and so" jpeg. Make sure you spelled it correctly and try again. Why is this happening all of a sudden? I can save the attachements and then open them on my desktop but it's a pain in the ass.

Jun 3, 2009New Dell computer running that crappy Windows Vista system. After editing any JPEG in Windows Photo Gallery, I get a pop up that "changes to this picture cannot be saved because Photo Gallery has experienced a problem".
These are regular JPEG's that are on my desktop. They are not locked or funny file names, or any of the other obvious problems. Anybody out there able to help a cpu novice on this one? My wife is ready to throw this brand new computer away because of the problems running anything on Vista.BTW,pretty ironic, it is trying to block me out of this site, that it recommends .I go to with problems.
