I receive the following errors when attempting to synch my iPods or iPhones with iTunes. After synching just a handful of songs, I get an "iTunes has stoppoed working error". It does not happen with my AppleTV however. Also, note that I can keep it from happening if I simply start the iTunes Diagnostics tool and leave it on the screen while it updates the iPod. I came across this workaround by chance but it is obviously annoying. Before you ask me the obvious, I have completely uninstalled iTunes, Quicktime and anything that I could find relevant to iTunes including the iTunes database, music, everything! Something persists however because I cannot get rid of the error.

I am having trouble installing iTunes on windows vista 32bit. It downloads ok but when i try to run it error msg is 'itunes setup is not a valid win 32 application' i have checked and version 8 iTunes should be compatible with vista. I can't even install quicktime.
My iTunes has suddenly stopped giving me access giving the message "The iTunes library .itl file is locked, on a locked disk, or you do not have write permission for this file." The iTunes forum says that I need I need to uncheck the "read-only" attributes by right-clicking on the iTunes folder, select properties, unselect Read-only. So I did and received the message, "You will need to provide administrator permission to change these attributes, click continue or cancel. I clicked continue. It ran "applying attributes" and then I clicked ok. But iTunes still gives me the same message that the file is locked. And then when I back into properties the read-only selected again.
I am running Vista Home Premium, my itunes is 7.7.1.11 I WANT TO BURN Sigur Ros so I can chill out in the morning traffic but get that message that others are etting, iTunes Error 2131 and "Can not burn cd. An unknown error has occured". My computer is an ACER Aspire 5920.
I need to download iTunes 8.0. When ever I try to, this error message says "System Administrator Has Set Policies To Prevent This Installation." How can I change those policies? I'm using the Administrator account. I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit.
Yesterday we installed a high-speed modem after using satellite internet. As soon as it was switched, Windows Mail stopped working. I am still receiving my emails but I can't send any out. This is the message I get:The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'WORK, DAMMIT, WORK!', Account: 'pop.secureserver.net', Server: 'smtpout.secureserver.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E I don't use anything ISP-related with my email so that's not the problem. I use my email for work and I can't get it working and it's just super frustrating!

Build 19 error. I am getting an error message "Build 19 has stopped working". Does anyone know what this error is and how to resolve it? I have a language program that I purchased and when I try to "Print" a group of lists or flash cards with this program, I am getting this message in a box that says "Microsoft Windows" in the upper left blue area with this message in the white boxed area. It goes on to Say "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the programand notify you if a solution is available. "But Windows is not notifying me of any solution. And I can't print and it then closes the program. I contacted company and they recommended I uninstall and reinstall the program which I did and the same issue continues to occur. I have Windows Vista Home Basic so I wonder if there is something in Windows Vista causing this and where can I find a fix.
I have a Microsoft Wireless Multimedia Keyboard as part of a desktop package. This was working fine until Vista Update installed something and it stopped working. I have tried to roll back and un-install with no joy. I have also tried to Re-install the drivers for this also with no joy as all I get is the following error "Error 1612".
I have Canon BJC-2000 Injet printer. It always worked perfectly with Vistas. Now since I changed the ink cartridges, it won't work. I send the print job and in the print queue is says "error - printing" and that's it.

Running Vista on an HP...When I get the pop up to compact the mail I click OK and it gets about 3 quarters of the way thru and I get the message Windows Mail has stopped working and Windows is searching for an answer. If you are an iTunes user and have purchased any songs from the on-line store you may have some issues when trying to authorize your computer to play back your songs. While authorizing your computer to play your purchased songs iTunes will say everything was successful but you will still not be able to play your songs. Why? Because iTunes is being bad and trying to write to a part of the registry that a normal user does not have access to.
Currently Apple has said they are working on a Vista compatible version of iTunes. For now, there is a work around that will help you play your purchased songs in iTunes: ...
have just got into itunes and can't burn cd. I get message that reads "Can not burn cd. An unknown error has occured." Can burn music with Media Player using my own library with no problems.
I recently had to do a clean install of vista (my hard drive stopped working) and so I had to reinstall all my software. Well I have two versions of iTunes on my computer (x86 and x64 versions) and I've installed the x64 version and i get this error message whenever I try to start up iTunes, but it installs with no problem.
I have a Dell Inspiron E1705. Worked fine until I performed some tweaks on this site to increase performance and Windows upgrade. I run Vista, of course..Vista forum. I did this two or three weeks ago. It's irked me and I'm just getting back to trying to resolve it. I looked at system restore, but it only goes back a week? What would happen if I load Windows 7 Beta? I saw this mentioned somewhere else. I've looked at services, drivers. I just want my audio to work. Everything I look at says my audio is working. Itunes won't work. The progress bar in Itunes won't work either.
Everytime I try to add a digital copy of a dvd or blu ray into my iTunes it says I do not have the access privilages. I am the administrator and my computer is definately authorized with my iTunes. I emailed Apple, and the guy said it was probably a Vista issue, and was unable to help me. Is there anyone out there with similar problems and a way to fix it? It is rather frustrating.
I have been unable to load and use itunes because of a DEP message that pops up on screen shutting down the program.
I have done the following:
*uninstalled the programs itunes and quicktime *uninstalled the programs completely using Crogram files - the additional way of uninstalling. * reinstalled/uninstalled both programs about 4 times * reinstalled quicktime as a stand alone program * used Windows installer clean up
I can't turn DEP off by selecting itunes and putting into the marked exception box because an error message tells me that itunes MUST operate with DEP. It will not drag it into the box.
I hated the new colour scheme when iTunes 9 was released, with the harsh white background. Is there any way to change it back to the black/grey without installing anything????
I have Vista Home Premium 64 Bit SP2 and cannot install iTunes.
Today I downloaded the newest version from Apple's web site. Installation proceeds normally for awhile then I get the error below (it appears in box labeled " iTunes + QuickTime".
Could not open key: UNKNOWNComponentsDA42BV89BF25F5BD0AF18C3B9B1A1EE87E577B2224C654E801A9E52375DB49. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key, or contact your support personnel.
I navigated to the key (substituting HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionInstallerUserDataS-1-5-18 for UNKNOWN above) and found 3 instances of the key. 1 had data, 2 were empty. I deleted the 2 empty iterations. I had read about running regedit as an administrator and trying to change the permissions so that the owner was "adminstrators" instead of "system" but was unable to change the ownership (maybe because I have not uninstalled the older version of QuickTime that I used to get things working). Anyway I would like to install the 64 bit version of iTunes now but need to get past this problem. Additional info: I noticed that iTunes 64 bit selected as the install directory C:Program Files (x86) instead of C:Program Files. I have tried installing in each of these directories with the same results.
My system state is now that everything with iTunes in uninstalled with the exception of QuickTime 7.3.1 which I use to run a program that I use often.
however i went to install Itunes 8 (64bit) and have this issue when i startup the program. I have all updated drivers, and no hardware conflicts presently that i'm aware of.. It's starting to get frustrating not being to update my phone/Ipod etc, so i'll paypal $20 to the first person that can provide me with a solution.
I was ok for a a few hours, but something has caused my iTunes to stop operating properly. I can bring the app up. I can see the songs just fine. But, when I attempt to play them, nothing happens. They won't start. Either will a CD or a song sample at iTunes store, or a MySpace audio file, or my Band in a Box music software.
I keep getting a message that iTunes is NOT the default app for these files (upon opening iTunes) but it is set to be the default. Config: Dell 2.8GHz, 4GB Ram, Vista 32bit, iTunes 7.6, E-MU 0404 external audio interface
I'm running 32 bit Vista and I can't install iTunes. I've done the whole VBscript thing, bu I"m still getting the Microsoft Windows error message that "iTunes installer has stopped working" and no other details. Any ideas on why I'm getting this?
I have I tunes on both the laptop with WindowsXP and on the newly acquired Desktop, HP Q 8200 with Vista 64. For the latter I have downloaded the latest recommended version for Vista64, but even though I can see the imported and saved ( on an external hard drive) play list I can not play them. When I click on them on this new Vista 64 empowered Desktop, nothing happens. When I click on Beethoven folder ( which contains many creations by composer) I can see nothing in the right panel regarding the overture, for example.
On the laptop I have exactly the same play list and all works fine there. Audio is OK, because when I go to the I-tunes store with the desktop, I can listen to the songs. _________ Information from ESET NOD32 Antivirus, version of virus signature database 4386 (20090901) __________The message was checked by ESET NOD32 Antivirus.....

I wanted to change my destination location for the "My Music" folder to be an external hard drive, since I am a professional musician and my music takes up a great deal of space. However, something strange has happened so I now cannot open my Itunes folder, and when I click on the "My Music" folder there is NOTHING--all of the tabs that had previously been there are gone, and it just has the general tab with o bytes. My music is still on the computer (I can find it under my name...music) but I cannot figure out how to restore the link from the "My Music" to this.
A friend left a garbled message on my telephone answering machine asking me for help but I don't use Vista or iTunes, so I'm hoping some kind soul on here can help. Basically any file he downloads (it may be a photo of his grandson sent as an email attachment in jpg format, or a program such as skype.exe, or a pdf document) cannot be opened. When double-clicked, any downloaded file opens up iTunes and presents the message "iTunes cannot open this file". I know it's not much to go on but his message recorded badly.
When i plug my ipod into the USB i get an autoplay popup giving me options to open folder to view files or speed up my system. No matter how long i wait after that my ipod will not show up on iTunes. I've tried disabling autoplay, but that still wont work.
