The problem I've been having is that when I try to run a game in full screen mode the game will just minimize itself and no matter how many times i try to bring it up it just flashes a black screen and then returns to the desktop with the game still minimized. I believe I've found what causes this but I'm still not satisfied with my current solution. What I've found so far is that on my computer full screen games don't like to run in 32bit color mode. I've got an ati card and when I change the color setting in the catalyst control center to 16bit also disabling aero the games seem to run fine. What I'm trying to find out I guess:
A. am i fixing the root of the problem by doing this?
B. is there a way to have games incompatable with aero automatically adjust the color and aero settings when started then return the settings to normal on close?
I've got a problem with my Vista Home Premium x64 and haven't found a solution so far. My PC started recently to minimize some games to the tray when I start them.
Those games are: - Sacred Gold - Ghost Recon (inlcuding both addons) - Tom Clancy's HAWX Demo - Braid Demo
I can't figure out what's causing this... The problem only started to occur recently - I don't know why. I uninstalled everything I had installed recently, but to no avail.
I have a big problem with windows vista. I really want to get the aero theme working but I am failing at it. I have windows vista home premium 32bit. I also have 2 gb memory , 2.66 GHz, My resolution at the moment is 1024x768. I have a 19 inch widescreen (dell). Here are some pictures that might help you tell me what my problem is........
i really want to get the stylish vista with the aero fine theme
I've got an Sony VGN-BX197XP laptop that I've upgraded to Windows Vista Ultimate. Since then I've encountered some strange display-related issues:
1) I could only boot into Aero about 50% of the time. The rest of the time I forced onto the Standard theme with no Aero option. Since installing Vista SP1 I can't get Aero at all.
2) When not running in Aero mode I can't get the Windows Media Player to play video files, nor get a Perfomance Index.
3) If I plug in an external monitor I can't get a picture on the laptop monitor but I *do* get a picture on the external monitor and it runs Aero 100% of the time. It will also play video files and give me a performance index.
Does anybody know of a Vista x64 compatible NAS that is also backward compatible with Vista x32 and XP? My Netgear SC101 NAS is not compatible and I need a NAS to work with all three OS flavors.
will this be compatable with my system? and should vista regonise it without having to install anything? PEAK DVB-T ANALOGUE & DIGITAL TV PCI CARD on eBay, also TV Cards, Graphics, Video TV Cards, Desktop PC Components, Computing (end time 01-Nov-08 14:48:46 GMT)
How do I get a version of "Microsoft Photo Editor" that is compatable with Vista 64 bit Home Premium edition operating system? Photo Ed 3.01 is the only one I found to download, and it is not compatable with my Vista. I also use other photo editing programs, but Photo Ed is the fastest to re-size, smudge, and crop jpg images.
when i play in my windows vista flight simulator game, a message come and tell me that your direcx version is not compatable with the game. And as i knew that windows vista have directx 10 and flight simulator only works in directx 9.c , i want your help on how to solve this problem. I just bought a brand new ipod nano and i have been having nothing but problems trying to download my songs to my ipod. everytime i plug the usb cable from my ipod to my computer the computer does not recognize the device. I have gone back and fourth with apple and compaq to try and resolve the problem but i just keep getting the run around. I was told by the rep. at apple to call microsofts and ask them to update usb drive firmware so that the computer will be compatable with the ipod.
I just bought a new compaq with a intel (r) 82945gexpresschipset family graphics card. Windows Vista home premium. I got nwn2 installed but when I try to load the game I get the message could not find compatable direct3 device. I've sat the icon on windows xp still no go. My computers not even online yet and I can't get this silly game to run.
I have a friend who just got a new PC with Vista Home Basic. He's using an old DOS program that worked under XP, but doesn't appear to work properly in Vista. When I execute the program, it comes up with the error message "This system does not support fullscreen mode. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application." My choices then are "Close" or "Ignore". Whichever option I click on, the program will then run, but in a miniscule window that I can't alter.
Any ideas on how to get this to run in fullscreen like it did before? I'm working on getting him to join the 21st century, but in the interim, I'd like to make this work...at least temporarily.
I've been playing games like CS and Frets on Fire now since i got my computer (about a yr ago) and all's been well until recently all my games are opening as a small image on the screen not in fullscreen and i cant enlarge it any way. ive tried changing my resolution but i didnt do anything.
I have Vista Ultimate x64. I setup WMC to use my HDTV at 1080i 1360x768 in 16:9. When I play TV, movies, or videos it never plays it fullscreen. I checked for an option to stretch the video, but there is none. How can I get it to play everything fullscreen? DirecTV standard receiver
How do you open an email, make it fullscreen, and get Windows Mail to remember that?(It remembers the position and size of an email (non-maximised) - why not maximised?)
since i upgraded to vista from xp pro, i have been able to view Internet and other flash based videos in fullscreen mode. everything is up to date, but when i try to fullscreen i end up with a dividing line from bottom left hand side of my screen upto the top right hand side almost like a " / " with the top left hand side all grey and the bottom right hand side is white, but no video will play? audio will play, but no dice with the video.
On my programs transferred over from XP I keep on getting a message saying "This system does not support fullscreen mode. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application." It gives me a choice of close or ignore (of course ignore does nothing).
just got some games loaded and I used to have ATITray Tools which would let you keep the frame rate and temps in the corner during game play, anything like that for Nvidia? Just ran Quake4 at full specs and had Nvidia performance control panel turn the fan to 90%... but would like to monitor the temps and frame rates on this and other games. 9800GT 1GB. ( as soon as the new card arrives.... back to ATI tools.
I`ve have an eyefinity setup running 3x24" monitors in portrait mode at 3600x1920. Every time I try to load the game I get "failed to find working fullscreen mode". I`ve tried everything from internet searches for the same problem and gone into the sortcut of the game to open in different window modes, but no luck.
(Vista Home Premium Sp2 on a Toshiba laptop) I've got an old DOS game called "Blockout" that I want to run on my laptop but when I do I get this error message:
16 bit MS-DOS subsystem E:clockoutle.exe This system does not support fullscreen mode. Choose "Close" to terminate the application.
There are also two buttons "Close" and "Ignore". "Close" exits; "Ignore" is ignored. My display information is:..................
Where did my Aero go? My computer is by far good enough to run Aero because I had it going for a long time and just out of the blue it's gone...I have Intel core 2 duo 2.5 4gigs ram 512mb nvidia video card with the latest drivers.
everyone knows vista should have the aero theme, right? i don't. maybe it is the home basic os? i also saw on the taskbar properties that it says "show windows preview" and i have this box checked ...
Alright, I'm not necessarily the most computer savvy person so I let one of my friends who is genius with this stuff work his magic on my computer every once in awhile.
Well, one of the first things he did to my laptop when I got it, was get rid Aero. At first I didn't mind, but now I want it back. And I mean its gone. When I go into "Window Color and Appearance" it doesn't even have the Aero option listed anymore.
I no longer have Aero theme enabled, and, I can't select it from the list. This has started after I had to format my drive and install Vista all over. Everything else with it seems just fine. Only this "Windows Vista Transparency" is not working. There is only one place I can think of to enable it at, and it is not there. Do I need to install some updates?
There should be another option there "Windows Vista Ultimate" I think, but I could be wrong.
But how do I enable transparency and all of the other effects of Aero?
Ive always use vista home premium, but after I used glary tools to defrag my regestry and then it said restart my comp annd i did, then whe i go to my pc, i see it has windows basic features, like on aero. So i went to personalinize and I SEE NO AERO feature!
I've just installed Vista Home Premium recently and there appears to be no Aero. I've checked through the personalization menu, control panel, etc, but still no Aero. I I have a bad graphics card, but it's at least 128MB. My score for Desktop Performance for Aero is 1.9.
