View 4 Replies View RelatedI cannot believe what a mess your operating system is. I can't even open attachments received in my emails because your silly system is so poorly designed. I think it may be time to scrap my new HP system and go out an buy a real computer from Apple. If Bill Gates had to compensate Windows users for all the time wasted dealing with his damned OSs, he would for sure not be the world's richest man, and deservedly so. I'm fed up.

I can see all my emails in my Comcast & Hotmail accounts (the subject line) but when I try to open them I get an error message saying: 'There is an error opening this message & that's' it! I also noticed that the following options are greyed out (not available) Reply Reply All Forward. I'm not sure what's going on but it's been like this for 2 days & for a brief moment I was actually able to open & read an email today. I don't know what infomation about my PC to post but I'm sure whoever answers this will let me know.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI was unable to open any of the attachments that were in my emails that previously I had been able to open. I did some reading here and found many references to incompatability with Norton and the need to change my security settings in Win Mail. almost by accident I came across a person who was not happy with IE8 and happened to mention that among other problems his Win Mail quit working properly after he upgraded to IE8. I uninstalled IE8 which reverted back to IE7 and now my Win Mail works correctly and all of my attachments can be opened.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a friend who just got a new PC with Vista Home Basic. He's using an old DOS program that worked under XP, but doesn't appear to work properly in Vista. When I execute the program, it comes up with the error message "This system does not support fullscreen mode. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application." My choices then are "Close" or "Ignore". Whichever option I click on, the program will then run, but in a miniscule window that I can't alter.
Any ideas on how to get this to run in fullscreen like it did before? I'm working on getting him to join the 21st century, but in the interim, I'd like to make this work...at least temporarily.
I was wondering if anybody has a fix for fullscreen transparency? I'd perfer not to use a program.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe problem I've been having is that when I try to run a game in full screen mode the game will just minimize itself and no matter how many times i try to bring it up it just flashes a black screen and then returns to the desktop with the game still minimized. I believe I've found what causes this but I'm still not satisfied with my current solution. What I've found so far is that on my computer full screen games don't like to run in 32bit color mode. I've got an ati card and when I change the color setting in the catalyst control center to 16bit also disabling aero the games seem to run fine. What I'm trying to find out I guess:
A. am i fixing the root of the problem by doing this?
B. is there a way to have games incompatable with aero automatically adjust the color and aero settings when started then return the settings to normal on close?
On my programs transferred over from XP I keep on getting a message saying "This system does not support fullscreen mode. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application." It gives me a choice of close or ignore (of course ignore does nothing).

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've got a problem with my Vista Home Premium x64 and haven't found a solution so far. My PC started recently to minimize some games to the tray when I start them.
Those games are:
- Sacred Gold
- Ghost Recon (inlcuding both addons)
- Tom Clancy's HAWX Demo
- Braid Demo
I can't figure out what's causing this... The problem only started to occur recently - I don't know why. I uninstalled everything I had installed recently, but to no avail.
I`ve have an eyefinity setup running 3x24" monitors in portrait mode at 3600x1920. Every time I try to load the game I get "failed to find working fullscreen mode". I`ve tried everything from internet searches for the same problem and gone into the sortcut of the game to open in different window modes, but no luck.

View 9 Replies View RelatedOutlook 2007 installed, and working fine. I needed to open winmail and found that it did not open. Found it running in taskman, but there is no winmail program window available.
I have tried:
1)delete winmail reg entries
2)delete winmail storage folders
3)rename winmail.exe file....
None of the above worked. Specifically, the results of points above:
1)started winmail after deleting reg entries, just remade them,is all.
2)ditto for point 2
3)nothing happens when double click renamed winmail.exe...
I dont want to use another program. I needed to visually advise someone about adding signatures, but winmail did not start. Yes I could do an internet search, but that is not the point-winmail is broken somehow and I wish to fix it.
When I boot up in the morning, I have to wait 20 to 30 mins before Outlook 07 will connect to my Exchange 2003 server. Until then, when I try to open Outlook it says, cannot open the default e-mail folders. And it suggests there is a network issue or that the Exchange server is down. These are not the case. The Exchange server is up and there are no network issues. I have many other computers attached to the network and none of them have this issue. Some our XP Pro/Office 07, some are XP Pro/Office 2003. The big difference with my machine is that it is Vista.
After about 20 to 30 minutes, wow! it connects! And then it's good for the rest of the day. I usually only minimize Outlook after I actually get it open so the connection is maintained throughout the day. I'm not sure what would happen if I closed it completely. But one thing is for sure, every morning, it takes 20 to 30 minutes before it will connect. Eventually, it always connects.
I am not a happy camper right now. Where did all my old emails go? What is this garbage?
