View 6 RepliesI am getting absolutely no sound from my pc, My audio device is listed as HDMI. When i try installing the original Asus driver for Vista x64 Ultimate the setup halts saying "The audio driver files do not support your computer hardware"
I have tried realtk HD drivers too but no sound....this has been going up for about a week and now i am really fed up with this expensive piece of crap. The onboard audio has a 5.1 speaker support, i even tried head phones in indivisual audio jak including the front panel jack but no sound.
Also i can see 2 High Defination Audio Controllers" in my device manager, one is marked with yellow, that means there's some problem. I checked its properties & it says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" Location :- PCI bus 0, device 27, function 0
How come i have two audio controllers? where as mobo comes with single onboard audio chip? Does anyone know what torture it is to play farcry, crysis, hl without sound?
I have a Cannon Powershot A40 camera. UJust used the basic driver in Vista 64 bit to upload the pictures. I use Paint Shop Pro to work on them. Last night I installed SP1 and guess what/ Yup, can't use camera, Windows search for driver failed and Cannon website has no support for this camera for Vista says it's too old. What!!! nor would the driver from the original disk work. I've got a Epson Colour printer that's older than the camera. Epson can manage it, why not Cannon? However this is strange considering that Vista 64 bit had a driver before I installed SP1 Now I've got to fork out for a card reader.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI was used to be able to use the digital as well as the analog output of my soundcard at the same time. (Soundcard is an onboard one with the ACī97 sound chip). But now running vista I can only use one. Either I choose the analog output to be "standard" (then it has the green tick) or the digital output.. Only the one chosen works then. Is there any way to get both working simultainiously?

View 6 Replies View RelatedSound functions but reciever is only detecting 2 channel output. Apon browsing RealTekHD audio properites I discovered that the only options for Digital Output(RCA) were all 2-Channel under "Default Format" tab. However my front pannel Audio Output Jack(HD Audio 2nd Output) has an extra third tab labeled "Speaker Configuration" and has options for up to 7.1 surround but these settings do not impact my Digital Output(RCA) channel. Now my reciever does have a multi-channel input that could take advantage of the Analog Outputs in the rear but the distance is to great and multiple wires are expensive.

Had to upgrade to a new PC, and most every new PC comes with Vista pre-installed, no options for XP. I try hooking up my 2 year old scanner - no Vista driver. I try hooking up a webcam a friend gave me - no Vista driver. So the whole purpose of upgrading to Vista was so I could go out and buy all new hardware!! This will be my last PC with a microsoft OS.

View 7 Replies View RelatedSeveral weeks ago I installed Vista Ultimate (from Technet) with the SP1 beta integrated. Now I have later version of SP1 in the form of a stand-alone installer. When I try to install it I get a message saying that SP1 is already installed. How can I install the later version of the service pack? I'd prefer not to do a complete reinstall from my original Vista non-SP disk.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have done this many times with XP Pro. Two entirely different hard drives. Make a dynamic file by file copy of C to D, then configure the boot menu to boot to either one. So, if C should die, boot to identical D. Has saved me and business clents many times. But alas, whatever is used as bootini in Vista seems a bit more difficult. If I have two identical hard drives with the same vista OS, how do I configure the bootini menu to boot to either one?

What recommended additions would you suggest and is this possible at all ... particularly without having to disable the vista firewall.
View 7 Replies View RelatedEverything is working fine (so far) except that it does not recognize integrated Ethernet adapter at all. On advise of support guys did driver reinstall several time including while in Safe Mode. Even restored factory settings i.e. reinstalled OS. If I run "pnputil -e" then the adapter package is listed but the adapter just does not show up in Device Manager.
Already verified that it is enabled in BIOS. Netgear USB adapter worked just fine after installing vista driver for it. Thinking of putting in a PCI card but that will occupy one slot. Only 3 PCI slots are available - standard, Express 1 and Express 16.
Prior to installing Vista, Windows XP had drivers for my Conexant Sound Card but 3 days ago I installed Vista Ultimate and I can't seem to find drivers for my sound card, I used Everest Ultimate and it shows my Sound Card as Riptide Audio Device, the problem is that currently I'm making my speakers work on the onboard audio, But the output is too low since the speakers lack amplifiers. Tell me if my Sound Card Diver in XP would be compatible in Vista! PS: I've tried Windows Update and It says that it couldn't find the drivers for my Sound Card.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAlright, i had a problem trying to Enable realtek audio from the Sound Hardware list from Control panel. After an hour of hunting and freaking out constantly, I found a solution that was looking at me in the face the whole time, I feel kinda stupid.
To Fix - Goto Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > Right click anywhere in this screen > Show disabled devices > Left-click speakers > properties > Device Usage > Enable.
Many of you may have been as frustrated as myself by Micrsoft bowing to the RIAA and pressuring the soundcard manufacturers to remove the "What You Hear" feature from their drivers. This supposedly prevents you from recording web radio and other sound card audio.
The short term workaround has been to loop the line out audio back around into the line in jack. While this works, it's a kludge.
The good news is that Version 7 of Total Recorder (just released) now comes with a true kernal mode driver that restores the capability to do direct recordings.

View 9 Replies View Related"no audi device installed, in volume mixer"
Im trying to help a friend fix their sound on their HP Compaq Presario F500 (2EA)Laptop. They have the annoying red cross over the audio icon on the bottom right hand corner of the screen (No Volume Mixer).
I have tried numerous things like:-
- Completely uninstalled the (Conexant High Definition) drivers in device manager, restarted and let Vista install them again.
- Downloaded latest drivers from RealTek,, and also HP
- Unfortunately their are no system restore points before the problem happened.
I have a sneaking suspision that either Windows Update installed something that is clashing with this problem or I herd that Itunes may have somethign to do with it (Which was installed near the time).
Right where to start, i bought a 5.1 home cinema system for the pure fact i wanted to playe the audio from my Acer 8920G through it. I have been using the normal head phone jack that is playing in stereo but i want to take advantage of Dolby Digital Live and listen to my music in surround sound. So i disabled the "speakers" through control panel in sounds and made the digital output the default but now there is no sound at all although vista says there is a signal when looking at the volume. If i have not been specific enough then please feel free to aks questions, i feel like i am going mad, i can't be unique in ths situation.

Is there anyone out there with similar problems and a way to fix it? It is rather frustrating.
