Does Not Boot After Memory Upgrade

Jun 16, 2008

I have a system runnung Vista, XP and Ubuntu. Now I replaced the memory from 2 Gb before to 4 GB DDR2 now. After this Vista is not starting successfully anymore. During boot process it restarts the computer. Booting in safemode the last loaded driver shown is crcdisk.sys before the system restarts. Windows XP and Ubuntu are running without any problem, HDD check shows no error, even Windows Memory Diagnostics is runnung without reporting any problem. If I change the RAM back to my old 2 GB also Vista is starting again. But with 4 GB it will not.

Memory Upgrade: Install Additional 2Gb, I Get A Blue-screen Every Time I Boot

Mar 23, 2008

Am running Vista 64 Business on XFX 680i Sli LT with 2Gb ram, Quad core 6600, 600GT video. System runs fine, but I want more memory to help performance. When I try to install additional 2Gb, I get a blue-screen every time I boot (some blue screens have an IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL, most have no error msg). Is there a way to determine if my installation of Vista already has this installed? I've already checked the Control Panel/Windows Update/Review Update History, it's not in there, I thought it may be in the core install on the DVD?

Low Memory After Upgrade

Mar 26, 2008

After I upgraded to Vista my computer has not worked right. It's slower, needs to be restarted every day, I have no sound and other low memory problems. I have noticed that the windows old file is 43 GB which is almost half of my total memory. Is the best thing to fix my computer to go back to XP or just get rid of large files like the windows old so Vista can run properly. I don't even know where to start.

Home Basic Memory Upgrade To 4gb - Blue Screen

Not Run Memory Test On Boot

Apr 4, 2009

I am runing windows vista 32 and it is actualy running ok for me thought I just tryed to run a memory test and found that it runs up to about half or what i have then it starts over. It will do this till i get tired of watching and jump back in to my bios and tell it to run the fast test witch dose not run any real test. Then the comp will boot fine and run ok. I would really like to know how to get it to run a real mem test so i can check my systems memory. I had a problem a wile back where my main board desided to over clock my memory on its own and thought it is now runing ok i want to make sure it did not damaged the memory. I already found that it had damaged my FX card and had to replace it.

CPU Upgrade, Cannot Boot

Jan 21, 2009

So, I recently upgraded to a phenom 9950BE from my "old" 6400+ X2, I have 8GB of RAM, 2 500GB HDD's in raid 0, and an 8800GTX. I updated the bios no problem, I can get the motherboard to post with the phenom. I'm actually on the computer right now, however "only" with 4GB of RAM in. If i put in the other 4GB of RAM the computer just powers down at the vista load screen. This computer is my workstation and the 8GB is actually necessary.

Windows XP/ Upgrade Dual-Boot

Mar 23, 2008

I apologize, I'm sure this has been asked a million times before, but I'm finding so much contradictory and/or outdated information that I honestly don't know what's possible at this point. I'm sure someone out there probably has a form-reply to this at this point! I blame Microsoft entirely for not making things like this at all clear (or at least not easy to find)!

Anyway, I've got Windows XP Pro (SP2) and want to purchase and install Windows Home Premium in a dual-boot configuration *without* wiping out the XP install.

1) Can I do this with an Upgrade copy of Vista, or do I need to buy a Full version?
2) What, if anything, do I need to do to ensure that XP isn't overwritten?

Exploring, Memory DiagnosticsIf Vista Detects A Memory

Feb 23, 2007

Memory DiagnosticsIf Vista detects a memory problem in your system such as a faulty RAM module, it will display a notification asking if you want Vista to try to diagnose the problem. Then again you may also recieve the sudden BSOD with the error MEMORY MANAGMENT at the top. You can manually run this tool anytime just typememory in the search box inside the start menu. This tool offers you two options: restarting immediately and checking for problems, or running next time you reboot your machine (the memory diagnostic tool must run at boot time).

Network DiagnosticsWindows Vista also allows you to check the connectivity of your network connection using the Network Diagnostics Framework: An infrastructure and a set of built-in and extensible components that attempts to automatically diagnose and correct network connectivity problems. The usual way to run this check is to open Network Center and click the Diagnose Internet Connection link on the left Vista will either identify ............

Total Memory Available 3.3GB With 4GB Physical Memory Under Windows 7 64 Bit

Nov 29, 2009

I had 4GB physical memoryon the PC. With Windows vista 32 bit, available memory is shown as 3.3GB. I asked and was told that only under 64 bit windows, will the available memory be 4GB. When I upgraded to windows 7, I chosed 64 bit, but the available memory shown in the system is still 3.3 GB. Why is this and is there a way to make the full 4GB available? It's possible that my video card is using RAM instead of its own RAM. If I install a video card with its own RAM, will the full 4GB be available?

Out Of Memory And Needed To Free Up Memory?

Aug 23, 2008

I am fairly new to the forums, and VERY new to Vista x64. The machine is new, and I was trying out some apps and games, I was in Secondlife when I got an error messege saying I was out of memory and needed to free up memory. I shut down the app and restarted it. Runs but I watched Task manager and saw my free memory down to almost nothing after an hour or so. The cached seems very high.

I did alittle research and decided to set a second page file on my 1TB hard drive, (OS is on the other HHD's )( regulated by system for size ) I'm not really sure whats going on. Example of just task manager and this page openis attached. Again, any help would be great in getting the memory set up on here optimal.

It then went to reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key. I went into the BIOS to change the boot order and inserted my Vista home premium 32bit. I then got windows is loading in files. After a short while I got the black start up screen with Microsoft Corporation but after a few seconds it just froze. Moments later it went to a blue screen with white writing part of which said the following; A PROBLEM HAS BEEN DETECTED AND WINDOWS HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN TO PREVENT DAMAGE TI YOUR COMPUTER.

Vista 64 Installed Physical Memory Vs Total Physical Memory

Mar 26, 2009

I'm running Vista 64 Home (SP1) Premium on a homebuilt machine w/8GB (4 X 2GB modules). Windows is reporting 8 GB of Installed Physical Memory but is reporting only 4 GB of Total Physical Memory. I first noticed this when, after installing a game, the game system specs said 3092 MB of RAM.

I have checked the BIOS and it recognizes 8 GB. Memory Remapping is Enabled. Under Memory Remapping is "PCI MMIO Allocation: 4GB to 3328 MB" (?). MSConfig Boot Options shows Max Memory is not checked and no value in the box below. I tried enabling it and using 8192 as the value, but it made no difference. DxDiag shows 8 GB installed RAM. how I can get windows to make available all 8 GB of RAM? (Motherboard is ASUS Maximus II Extreme w/Intel Q9550 processor running at Q9650 clock speed, memory running at 1127 MHz

Boot Failure - Dual Boot Situation

Mar 23, 2008

I have more or less completed all the driver upgrades and windows updates but I keep getting repeated boot failures of Vista. I can always get into Safe mode but in Normal mode the boot fails just after the first spash screen at the point when the screen goes blank to be replaced by the small circular Vista logo. After 2 or 3 attempts it succeeds to load but then the problem seems to reoccur, particularly when I have been back to XP for a while.

I had a similar problem with XP but that seems to have sorted itself out. I have tired looking in the logs for faults and failures but no clues there. I am running an ASUS P5E MB with Intel Quad 6600, 4Gig RAM, GeForce 8800GT and 2x250Gig HDs.

I downloaded and used “Vista Boot Logo Generator” I loved the results on my last install…It worked well. Upon deciding to do a fresh install with Tweaking in mind, I simply coppied over a Boot logo I made previously after allowing permissions and all that as well as changing the NO GUI in msconfig…ect….BUT......
