I would like to upgrade my Random Access Memory (RAM). I am thinking to put 2GB RAM cards into my machine. I have a small problem though. I don't know what type of memory my I should put into my machine. I own a Alienware Area 51 7500.
View 7 RepliesAfter I upgraded to Vista my computer has not worked right. It's slower, needs to be restarted every day, I have no sound and other low memory problems. I have noticed that the windows old file is 43 GB which is almost half of my total memory. Is the best thing to fix my computer to go back to XP or just get rid of large files like the windows old so Vista can run properly. I don't even know where to start.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a system runnung Vista, XP and Ubuntu. Now I replaced the memory from 2 Gb before to 4 GB DDR2 now. After this Vista is not starting successfully anymore. During boot process it restarts the computer. Booting in safemode the last loaded driver shown is crcdisk.sys before the system restarts. Windows XP and Ubuntu are running without any problem, HDD check shows no error, even Windows Memory Diagnostics is runnung without reporting any problem. If I change the RAM back to my old 2 GB also Vista is starting again. But with 4 GB it will not.

I upgraded memory to 4 Gb (2 x 2Gb). BIOS recognizes ok, but Vista Home Basic doesn't start. If I only use one 2Gb, it works ok.

When I try to install additional 2Gb, I get a blue-screen every time I boot (some blue screens have an IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_OR_EQUAL, most have no error msg). Is there a way to determine if my installation of Vista already has this installed? I've already checked the Control Panel/Windows Update/Review Update History, it's not in there, I thought it may be in the core install on the DVD?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI downloaded a dll (Ssubtmr6.dll), placed the file in the C:WindowsSystem32 folder and then using the Run dialog, entered the command Regsvr32 "C:WindowsSystem32Ssubtmr6.dll" to register it. I get an error message stating the module failed to load and including the text "Module could not be found". I had no problem installing this on an XP machine. I'm running Vista Home Premium (64 bit) with Service Pack 1.

I've been looking around forums for months now, trying to get rid of the Windows Update error code 80070424. I've read countless messages talking about solutions and tried them all. UNTIL I noticed today that the Windows Module Installer isn't listed in my services! I remember that annoying TrustedInstaller.exe running on my comp since I installed Vista, but it's gone, didn't noticed till today.
I'm not really a windows novice, but I just don't get it... how can it be just gone like that? I repeat, it is not diabled or wahtsoever, IT IS MISSING FROM THE SERVICE LIST. is there a way to reinstall the Windows Module Insdtaller, aka TrustedInstaller.exe? I am about to purchase a Dell M1330, which doesnt offer a TPM module. I also don't want to deal with plugging in a USB Flash drive every time I boot up (which could get stolen with a laptop). I have the following questions regarding Bitlocker
1 Can I still use the Bitlocker feature of Windows Vista with a TPM module or USB flash drive? 2 Are there any articles that document how secure Bitlocker is in keeping your data safe if your laptop is stolen? 3 If for some reason that operating system gets corrupt, is there a way to extract my data off of the hard drive if I have the encryption keys?
I have almost completed a transfer of everything from my old XP computer to my new Vista (Dell p6110-Vista64-640HDD-Intel dual core). I am certainly not a power user but when Easy Transfer did not work I was able to move most of my old files to the Vista computer by hand.
I had to copy and paste most of the data, but I realized that I could not transfer programs (expecially Office; Word, Excel etc.). So I did an clean install of Office Student 2007 in the new computer. The install was completed with no errors, but I am getting an error message in Word and cannot always save the files. I am using the old XP files and starting new files. This seems to only happen in Word.
I get the following error message: "Compile error in hidden module AZWizard Modul"
I have tried to reinstall Office but nothing changed.

I had 4GB physical memoryon the PC. With Windows vista 32 bit, available memory is shown as 3.3GB. I asked and was told that only under 64 bit windows, will the available memory be 4GB. When I upgraded to windows 7, I chosed 64 bit, but the available memory shown in the system is still 3.3 GB. Why is this and is there a way to make the full 4GB available? It's possible that my video card is using RAM instead of its own RAM. If I install a video card with its own RAM, will the full 4GB be available?

I have noticed an svchost.eve process runs each time I reboot which seems to bloat constantly although when I close it down it only frees up about 800MB, what's happening to the rest of my 8GB??? When I launch Task Manager it says I'm only using 10% Memory but free RAM sits at 0?!?!

Whilst working through some KB articles I was instructed to "Regsvr32 wbemupgd.dll". The result is a red X and the following message: The module "wbemupgd.dll" failed to load. Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug to check for problems with the binary. So I searched my hard drive and it seems that "wbemupgd.dll" has gone missing. The Install Wizard comes up and I try to cancel and it freezes up. "The Feature you are trying to use is on a network source that is unavailable." I click cancel and it freeze up. Or click to enter an alternate path to the folder containing the installation package opening secure module.msi. Again, freezes up. The machine is new, and I was trying out some apps and games, I was in Secondlife when I got an error messege saying I was out of memory and needed to free up memory. I shut down the app and restarted it. Runs but I watched Task manager and saw my free memory down to almost nothing after an hour or so. The cached seems very high.
I did alittle research and decided to set a second page file on my 1TB hard drive, (OS is on the other HHD's )( regulated by system for size ) I'm not really sure whats going on. Example of just task manager and this page openis attached. Again, any help would be great in getting the memory set up on here optimal.
I have 6gigs of DDR3 memory at 1600hz. Running on Vista 64bit and every now and again my memory performance just maxes out. The problem can occur around the time when I am installing something but I dont think its always this way. I have read forums where it could be the hardrives performing self diagnostics. I have all the latest patches for vista.

Windows is reporting 8 GB of Installed Physical Memory but is reporting only 4 GB of Total Physical Memory. I first noticed this when, after installing a game, the game system specs said 3092 MB of RAM.
I have checked the BIOS and it recognizes 8 GB. Memory Remapping is Enabled. Under Memory Remapping is "PCI MMIO Allocation: 4GB to 3328 MB" (?). MSConfig Boot Options shows Max Memory is not checked and no value in the box below. I tried enabling it and using 8192 as the value, but it made no difference. DxDiag shows 8 GB installed RAM. how I can get windows to make available all 8 GB of RAM? It starts to load up OK, put in the key number in than next step is. To pick custom install or upgrade install, but upgrade choice is grey out. It is disable from using the upgrade choice, I want to choose to pick. I did not purchase Windows Ultimate through Acer anytime upgrade option. It was a store bought software it was cheaper than Acer price they offer. What is the problem with installing Ultimate with Acer computer?

everytime i try to access a folder on my external hard drive (Toshiba 2.0 USB), it freezes explorer and and error message comes up saying out of memory, but i can't read it all because most of the window is just black.
also, before all of this started my NVidia graphics had a message pop up saying the NVIDIA Display Panel Extension cannot be created.
Possible reasons include:

I am putting together a new build and since PC-6400 DDR2 is sooo cheap I thought I might consider 8GB on an X38 board. I already have 2x2GB dimms, and was guessing if I went to 8GB it might be nice to have 4 identical DIMMS, which are still available (ie, another 2x2gb of the pair I have now). Anyone have wisdom about this? My main uses NOW are MS Flight Simulator, Gigastudio, and both of those benefit from at least 3GB, beyond that I don't know. I don't forsee video editing.

I just got Vista this april for the first time Vista Ultimate 64 bit to be precise. It came with a new computer that has 4GB of Ram...which I thought would be plenty, but apparently not? Right now I have 4 programs running: Sony Vegas, Zune, Firefox and MS Word. Including all the background tasks like firewalls and all that good stuff, it says I'm using 2.65 GB memory. Ok I still have about 1.4 GB left right? Wrong...I have 12 MB?
