Click Mouse Three & Working Two Time
Jun 28, 2008
Is there any way short of turning this blankety blank thing off that I can start programs on my own computer without having to click three times and issue two permissions every time? Heck, I even have to do that just to empty the recycle bin. That's incredibly a pain in the butt.

I have an old Logitech but fully functional mouse (cordless optical).
When I ran Vista x86 Ultimate, I installed a small program that allowed me to double-click with middle mouse button. Now, with Vista x64 Ultimate, it doesn't work anymore.
Do someone know another small program to allow me that?

I have a Logitech optical mouse and I need it to be rt.click. Whenever I reboot, Vista Premium resets to default. It is o.k at the user window and almost at the end of the desktop b4 it resets. Vista also deletes my passwords in Outlook 2002/XP every bootup. But Vista Mail is untouched.

I have a HP Touchsmart PC, running Vista x64 and using Internet Explorer 8. Recently we had a malware virus which was successfully removed by the computer technician. Everything is back to normal and when we run a virus scan it is now all clean. However, when we are on the internet the mouse now can't click with the left button
on websites and we can't use the left button to click to navigate around the site. The only temporary way I have found (which is very difficult and limiting) is to right click on the site and scroll up to "Open" or click on the site with the left button and hit "enter" which sometimes works.
I have replaced the mouse and ensured all the mouse setting are correct. This problem doesn't happen in emails only on Internet Explorer.

I have recently accepted a Windows Update and it seems that after this I lost the right hand click function on my mouse. I generally use a toolbar from the taskbar at the bottom of IE8, I can still highlight this but cannot see any sub-menu's.

Not terribly important (I can liev with black & white icons), but annoyance indeed and only started recently. It does NOT affect WindowsExplorer/Filemanager icons for folders, files, etc. Those have been and are fine 100%. Just the mouse right-click, now shows weird black&white icons, icons themselves are OK, colors are not. Difficult to see quickly what to click as I used to know by color what is what. For example right-click on empty space in Windows Explorer and select "new text Document" - the icon for it is a very bleak, black & whit eone. Use to be vivid greenish/bluish.

I recently went into Change Date & Time Internet time tab and chose a time standard to connect with. After doing that I went onto the internet and connected with time.nist.gov and checked the time. After that I was no longer able to go into the internet time tab. It tells me that time.nist.gov is the time connection and I can't change it. It tells me I need to have permission to do this as administrator. I am the administrator! What goes here?

If I try to right click and do "new->shortcut" on either desktop or in explorer, nothing happens at all and I do not know why.
Posts on other forums suggest there is something wrong with how vista works with .lnk attribute but I cant make any sense of it. And I will not try out the registry hack that is suggested as I do not know what it does.
My only hope atm is if any of you are familiar with the very same issue and know a way to correct this behaviour.

I have vista home basic. My computer is a compaq presario sr2170nx. The last couple days I have been getting the following message when I right click on icons on my desktop or click on quick launch icons: Windows explorer has stopped working. It gives me the option to restart or search online for a solution. either one causes the icons in the system tray to go away and then reappear. this doesn't happen when i right click on folders on the desktop but any icons for applications it will. Also any icons in those folders will do the same thing. I have virus scanned with nothing found. I am currently scanning with adaware although i don't think it will find anything either. I have downloaded a few programs recently to convert portions of a dvd to mpeg for a class I'm taking but nothing else out of the ordinary.

Running Vista Home Ult 64. I have a USB mouse, which is listed in the DMgr as "HID compliant device". There are no drivers for the mouse, which is by Kingwin.
If I wake the computer with the keybaord, the mouse functions fine. If I wake the computer with the keyboard, the mouse no longer functions. Doesn't even function after a reboot. The only way to get it to function is to unplug it from it's USB port, and then back in again. Called ASUS, and they said I do have the right amperage coming from the PSU.

Ive got vista ultimate 64. With a standard computer. My problem is that I cant configure my mouse buttons. After I install the latest 64bit mouse driver, and click on the mouse icon to configure the mouse buttons, an error pops up that says - 'Some mouse settings might not work until you connect a Microsoft mouse to a USB port on your computer or set up a Microsoft mouse that uses Bluetooth technology'.
The problem is that I have a microsoft mouse that is connected to a USB port. The mouse works fine on my spare XP computer so its not the mouse that's faulty. I tried separate microsoft mice - wheel mouse optical and the intellimouse optical, both by microsoft and both have same issue.
I tried different usb ports and same happens. I tried the ps2 port and same happens.
I uninstallled all mouse drivers and reinstalled but no help. Basic left and right click works but cant configure the wheel button. It was working a week ago, but I went for a holiday and when I came back it was faulty. All vista updates are installed, security is the windows firewall, AVG free antivirus, and windows defender, but none of these have been a problem before

Also, 'Favorites' at the top, I'm NOT able to access any web-site because mouse/'clicking' does not work. 'Start' at far left bottom, if 'classic view,' mouse is completely useless.

I am having problems with erratic mouse movements that have occured since I acquired my new computer with Vista installed. I have tried re-installing the mouse drivers but it made no difference. After numerous attempts to download a hotfix provided by Microsoft that I thought might fix the problem (error code 40?), I eventually managed to get the hotfix installer to work only to be informed that it was not for my system!!! I have Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit and a Dell Premium mouse.Has anybody else experienced this problem, and would they be able to tell me what they did to fix it? As you can imagine, working with the mouse is very frustrating - forget the intricate work!!

I'm sorry if this thread has already been sorted but I can't find an answer to my particular problem. I changed my keyboard and loaded the keyboard driver and since then the keyboard or mouse will not work. I switch on the pc it boots ok but as I said KB or mouse will not work. I shut down via power switch to force the pc to ask "start normally, safe mode etc" at this point I can use the keyboard, I then select any of the above, allow the PC to boot, and same problem.
I have tried to "Repair" with Vista disk but I have a Reminder program that is "ontop" so cannot get access to the Repair window because --- thats right KB and mouse will not work. Can you give me any help please on how to access the control panel, as I feel sure that if I remove the KB driver all will be ok. I have connected the KB for which I loaded the driver no go. Replaced KB with a no frills one, no go. I was using a wireless mouse originally and have changed that also to a basic one.
