View 6 RepliesToday when I tried to open "My Computer" I found that windows would stop responding, forcing me to open task manager and log off my account and back on. I ran my ESET virus scan and it found 1 problem but that did not seem to help me out. Anyone had any similar issues with this? Seems rather uncommon as a google search didn't come up with many problem-specific web pages. Running Vista Home Basic service pack 1

When I ran Vista x86 Ultimate, I installed a small program that allowed me to double-click with middle mouse button. Now, with Vista x64 Ultimate, it doesn't work anymore.
Do someone know another small program to allow me that?
Built a new PC a few days ok. first day went fine. Today ive been experiencing freezes every 2 hours or so but my mouse can still move across the screen. I cant click on anything but it can move.

It is o.k at the user window and almost at the end of the desktop b4 it resets. Vista also deletes my passwords in Outlook 2002/XP every bootup. But Vista Mail is untouched.

Heck, I even have to do that just to empty the recycle bin. That's incredibly a pain in the butt.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a HP Touchsmart PC, running Vista x64 and using Internet Explorer 8. Recently we had a malware virus which was successfully removed by the computer technician. Everything is back to normal and when we run a virus scan it is now all clean. However, when we are on the internet the mouse now can't click with the left button
on websites and we can't use the left button to click to navigate around the site. The only temporary way I have found (which is very difficult and limiting) is to right click on the site and scroll up to "Open" or click on the site with the left button and hit "enter" which sometimes works.
I have replaced the mouse and ensured all the mouse setting are correct. This problem doesn't happen in emails only on Internet Explorer.
I have recently accepted a Windows Update and it seems that after this I lost the right hand click function on my mouse. I generally use a toolbar from the taskbar at the bottom of IE8, I can still highlight this but cannot see any sub-menu's.

View 5 Replies View RelatedNot terribly important (I can liev with black & white icons), but annoyance indeed and only started recently. It does NOT affect WindowsExplorer/Filemanager icons for folders, files, etc. Those have been and are fine 100%. Just the mouse right-click, now shows weird black&white icons, icons themselves are OK, colors are not. Difficult to see quickly what to click as I used to know by color what is what. For example right-click on empty space in Windows Explorer and select "new text Document" - the icon for it is a very bleak, black & whit eone. Use to be vivid greenish/bluish.
View 4 Replies View RelatedFor some reason my computer keep freezing for no reason. It has been working fine before. I am running windows vista 32 bit. When it freezes. I cant move my mouse or do anything so i have to turn it off from the mains and turn it back on. Currently i am using safe mode with networking. I tryed the system restore to restore it back to the last windows update which i thought might have been the problem since the computer was working fine until i installed it. But it didn't do anything, it says that the restore was successful but my computer still froze about 5-10 mins after startup.
View 7 Replies View RelatedIt's weird, my mouse randomly freezes for about half a second to about 5 seconds from time to time. Sometimes it get stuck permanently, but will work if I unplug it from the USB port and plug it back in. Everything continues to function normally, so it doesn't appear as if other things are freezing up in any way. I have unplugged most of my peripherals in hopes of finding a cure, but it hasn't happened yet. I've tried a different mouse (both optical.) I've tried different USB ports. The problem only started a couple of months ago...I don't know if it started after an update or something.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a laptop running windows vista home premium 32bit. I've been having trouble with freezing problems where everything will freeze up except my mouse. I can move the mouse pointer around but i can't click on anything and bringing up the task manager using ctrl-alt-delete or ctrl-shift-escape doesn't work either. I have to do a forced shut down.
This happens at random times. I could be browsing the internet, word processing, listening to music, or anything. It happens both on a clean vista install and regular manufacturer (sony) os. I have all the updated drivers. What could be the problem?
no matter what i do at times left click opens closes application with out it stay open its like i clicked to close app. i just uipdated drivers i hope that was it.
View 5 Replies View Relatedbooted up my PC, typed in user name and password. Went on to Mozilla Firefox, about 10 or 15 minutes.... my laptop freezes. My mouse pointer cannot move, neither the programs. The only thing I could do, was the Windows Flip 3D (Win+Tab). My indicators (Power, Battery and Hard Drive) looked fine. So I shut down my PC.
I booted the PC, somehow... it failed. It had "Microsoft Corporation" and the loading bar, it was like that forever. I shut down my PC again and decided to go to Startup Repair and System Restore. It fixed the booting error, but my computer still freezes. This problem always goes on forever and ever. The worse place is to go is logging in as Administrator. But it does the same thing, except it also had blue screen of death. (KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR). I booted in Safe Mode, and it does the same thing. I did chkdsk /f , startup repair and system restore. I haven't thought about restoring my PC to factory settings.
when i upgraded to SP2 my start button stopped responding to my mouse click. i tried goin back to SP1 but it still didnt work? when i try to right-click on the start orb it comes up but with three black rows at the bottom of the right-click menu? i had to download that "Vista Start Menu" just to use it again but i'd rather have the normal start menu.

View 9 Replies View RelatedAbout every couple of days, somewhere during the day the computer just freezes up entirely - can't close programs, can't even get the task manager to come up, etc. As such I can't do anything except turn the computer off. Then, when I turn it back on, of course it wants to boot back into safe mode. So I do that - then try restarting from within safe mode, and just about every time, when I try rebooting in that way, upon entering my password into the machine, the "Welcome" screen comes up and stays up for over an hour.

However, it appears after downloading and installing Vista SP 1, the computer has a tendency of "freezing" and the only remedy is to press the power button. I did notice that when the computer freezes, my second bay DVD drive flashes, and the activity light on the console, which indicates HD activity, constantly flashes. It is a new HP Computer running Vista Premium Home.

I may have to restart several times before it will fully start up. I ran the Western digital utility and the hard drive failed. So I installed a new hard drive and went from XP32 to Vista64. I still does it. I ran Memtest and the RAM is fine. I bypassed the surge suppressor and it still does it. Once it's running, it's fine. Other then leaving it on all the time,

Ive tried everything. Installed on different hard drive, used different memory, different power supply, different CD rom drive, absolutely nothing will get the installation to not freeze. The windows event viewer is useless. I even tried 3 different install cd's. It's not overheating as far as i can tell either. Like i said vista 32 runs perfect so i cant understand whats going on? Should I RMA my motherboard? Ever heard of a cpu being defective in this way
I have spent the last 2 days on the line with Microsoft experts. They tell me that I cant uninstall SP1. Since the automatic update for SP1 my computer just freezes. Whatever program is running says (not responding) and I cant Cntrl Alt Delete or anything. I end up having to cut the computer off and restart. Am I stuck with this, the worst update ever?
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen my Vista Home Premium-SP1, is idle for awhile, the computer freezes. the screen is a grayish color and the mouse circle just keeps twirling. I have to manually re-boot. Everything is fine until I leave and come back...and it is frozen again. I cannot ctrl-alt-delete either. When I went to do a system restore, I saw that all my restore points were gone. How could this have happened? I thought maybe a windows update could be the source so I uninstalled the many updates (approx. 25). the next morning, I saw they had all returned even though I have it set not to download automatically.
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy computer (HP m9000t) freezes up after coming out of sleep mode. I have tried turning off sleep / hybrid sleep / hibernate, but the computer still goes into "sleep" of some kind. When it comes out of sleep, I can hear a whirling sound, which could be the harddrive starting up, but moments later it sounds like it spins down and stops, and then the whole computer freezes up, and I have to turn it off and then turn it back on in order to make it work again. I've tried to make it (using power options) so that the harddrive does not power down, but
that doesn't appear to do anything either, because the drive still turns off when the computer sleeps. Before this problem developed, I was having problems with the Media Center remote not working after sleep, and was also having problems with the usb ports, and the sound turning off.....................
i have a problem with my photoshop Cs4 installer. everytime i go to install, a window comes up and says "checking system profile" it gets to about 90% then Freezes. Is this common
View 7 Replies View RelatedComputer freezes while i'm in the middle of something, the mouse pointer will get "stuck" for 3-4 seconds, then the screen goes black (but the power is still on). I get no message, and nothing works except for holding down the power button to turn off the pc. When I restart there is no record of any problem in the problem history.
