I am a new user of windows vista home premium, I have been suffering from a strang problem somtimes I open any file some of the thing remove from my destop and my mouse's right click didn't work here is the picture of my problem

When I ran Vista x86 Ultimate, I installed a small program that allowed me to double-click with middle mouse button. Now, with Vista x64 Ultimate, it doesn't work anymore.
Do someone know another small program to allow me that?
Built a new PC a few days ok. first day went fine. Today ive been experiencing freezes every 2 hours or so but my mouse can still move across the screen. I cant click on anything but it can move.

It is o.k at the user window and almost at the end of the desktop b4 it resets. Vista also deletes my passwords in Outlook 2002/XP every bootup. But Vista Mail is untouched.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a HP Touchsmart PC, running Vista x64 and using Internet Explorer 8. Recently we had a malware virus which was successfully removed by the computer technician. Everything is back to normal and when we run a virus scan it is now all clean. However, when we are on the internet the mouse now can't click with the left button
on websites and we can't use the left button to click to navigate around the site. The only temporary way I have found (which is very difficult and limiting) is to right click on the site and scroll up to "Open" or click on the site with the left button and hit "enter" which sometimes works.
I have replaced the mouse and ensured all the mouse setting are correct. This problem doesn't happen in emails only on Internet Explorer.
I have recently accepted a Windows Update and it seems that after this I lost the right hand click function on my mouse. I generally use a toolbar from the taskbar at the bottom of IE8, I can still highlight this but cannot see any sub-menu's.

View 5 Replies View RelatedNot terribly important (I can liev with black & white icons), but annoyance indeed and only started recently. It does NOT affect WindowsExplorer/Filemanager icons for folders, files, etc. Those have been and are fine 100%. Just the mouse right-click, now shows weird black&white icons, icons themselves are OK, colors are not. Difficult to see quickly what to click as I used to know by color what is what. For example right-click on empty space in Windows Explorer and select "new text Document" - the icon for it is a very bleak, black & whit eone. Use to be vivid greenish/bluish.

The keys then work ok until I reboot again.Is there any way that I can programme the changes so they are the default programmes whenever I reboot. The software loaded fine and I clicked on apply and save when I originally set the keys.....I have a HP Pavilion DV6700 Laptop with windows visa home premium which is about one month old.

After spending a lot of time trying to find a solution, here is the way I have solve the problem. Now the sidebar is just working fine. This behavior is observed if the XML registration is missing in the system. To fix the problem, use the following steps:
* Close Windows Sidebar. To do so, right-click on the Sidebar icon in the Notification area and click Exit
* Open an elevated Command Prompt window. To do so, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

I have three Vista machines on my home network (2 Ultimate, 1 Home Premium - all dual core, not too old). Vista runs great on all three machines except that when I try to copy files over my network, I see that dreaded "Calculating Time Remaining" and nothing happens. Sometimes it may copy one file over but that's it. Then it hangs forever. when I click "Cancel" it still hangs and I end up rebooting.
I waiting patiently for SP1, only to find that it made absolutely no difference and did not solve the problem. I have scoured the web for suggestions and done everything from turning off remote compression to disabling UAC yadda yadda yadda.
I just had a motherboard go south on an AthlonXP 2200+ machine. So, I removed the hard drive thinking I would have to reinstall Ubuntu on its new machine, an AthlonXP 3000+ machine with a different video card, MB, NIC in a different PCI slot and a fax modem in a different PCI slot. So, I fired up the computer and didn't hit F11 soon enough to boot from the Ubuntu CD and much to my surprise, Ubuntu loaded as if nothing had happened.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI was logged into a standard user account yesterday and I needed a file in my Administrator account so I accessed the folder by going to to C:UsersMy Account. UAC prompted me for a password and I accessed the file just fine. Today I needed another file and used the same process. However this time it didn't prompt me for a password as I expected it would and let me straight into the Administrator account documents!
Once I had opened the Admin doucments the first time it had been automatically set with permissions. I solved it by removing the permissions from the security tab, but I assumed anytime you wanted to access files from an Admin account through a Standard account it would require a password. Is there something I'm missing here or is this Vista? Seems like a pain to have to remove permissions everytime you access a file like this.
I have lenovo Y550 laptop with vista home premium installed in it. Recently I tried installing many CD/DVD emulator softwares like 'daemon tools' and 'Win CD emulator' which din't worked in my 64 bit system, so I uninstalled them. After this everytime when I triy accessing my pendrive my system just hangs. So, I installed Microsoft's 'fix it' software. It said that there is some problem with some 'APFB3097 IDE controller' and that it can't repair it. When I opened Device manager I saw that driver under storage controller menu. One thing I observed is that, the code which appears before IDE controller is random. It keeps on changing sometimes. Also when I am in safe mode it vanishes and my all my pendrives work as well.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have been playing COD 4 and have been noticing that the graphics will 'invert' sometimes, at first i thought this was because of the installation disc as it was VERY, VERY scratched. But I got a new one and installed it again, then I thought it was the graphics card and was replacing it anyway so I chucked it. Then I thought it was the monitor as Vista x64 didn't have drivers for it. So I got a new monitor, reformatted recently, all drivers are installed and I still have the problem.
I went into my ATI Catalyst Control Center and put fan speed to 100% incase the gfx card was over heating... still nothing. This is what it looks like, as soon as I alt tab it fixes the problem but it is very annoying.
I short time ago I noticed that the personalization of some parts of my browser had been taken over by MSN and bing. I don't know how this has happened and I'd like to be able to go back to the way I had it set up. My toolbar was different, favorites had changed and now there is a list of MSN sites, which i didn't add to favorites, search was taken over by bing and I'm tired of things like this happening to my system. What is going on and what can I do about it? How do I get rid of all of this and get back to the way I had my browser set up? What about this Microsoft Live too? Why is that now on my system and why do I have to have a 'LIVE' ID and PASSWORD to sing into these newsgroups now instead of just my old ID and password that I use to sign in with for years?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm assembling the components to upgrade this machine (it is a 939 mobo with a nForce3 chip and early releases of Windows7 didn't play well with the chipset). I'm not a gamer, I don't need the latest and greatest cpu and I don't plan on any overclocking. The most demanding things I do are video recoding of HDTV, some audio recoding and some simple image editing.
I already have a mobo that takes AM3 processors and DDR2 memory. I'm considering a Athlon II x4 or a Phenom II x3 both running at 2.6. They are about the same price and the only difference, other than the cores, is the L3 cache. The Athlons don't have any and the Phenoms have 6 MB. What are your opinions? Will I see any difference in the performance in my real world situations?
I had a problem with my Vista so i had to reinstall it. After i reinstalled it I had to enter my activation code. I did that (i think). I tried the voice automated system and it didn't work. This is what i entered.

Installing on Vista Ultimate x64 (4Gb memory, Nvidia 8800GTX, etc) Myst (masterpiece edition) installs OK (just didn't let it install Quicktime 4 or directX 6 !)Can it really be possible that the original is dated 1993 ? (even this version is 1999)Forgot how little of the screen it used (especially in the middle of a 24"

my problem is the immense ram use in vista. but this is a new problem to me! i had after booting vista (all programms and services were load!) 1.2gb in use at the most! i had problems with my pc, so i reinstalled vista (vista didn't empty the ram anymore after a programm had been closed). now it starts at 1gb and climbs up to 1.3 to 1.5gb in a few minutes! in the meantime i do nothing, vista does that on its own. and i haven't installed yet the startup programms i have had installed before. using vista 64-bit
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded my system's motherboard, chip, and ram and ran into a big problem. When I booted up for the first time, Vista started to boot up then reset. When I ran recovery, it told me some drivers were corrupted (probably the old hardware) . I ran the motherboard disk and installed the new drivers and to make a long story short, it didn't work. Add that to the fact that I can't find my serial number sticker and I'm screwed. Is there a way to find my serial using the Dos prompt or can windows pull my serial off my hard drive if I reinstall? Please help, the copy of Vista is only 4 months old and I was waiting to put the sticker on when I got the new case + Motherboard setup
