I have many contacts and the list is to long to scroll through to select email recipients. Since the advent of Windows Mail, to easily select recipients from contacts folders, I have been selecting them (highlighting them with CTRL & mouse click) and then using the File, Action, Send Email options. This opened a new message with the selected recipients. This is no longer working.

In Windows mail, why doesn't my "Recipients list" not look like my "Contacts list"? I have three groups in my Contacts list that are not in my Recipients list, also most of my names in my recipients list are listed twice and I don't know how to delete or edit them.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWe are having trouble adding new groups in Windows Mail. For some reason, it no longer gives us the option of choosing to add a group instead of a single contact. I've clicked on "File" then "New" but "Contact Group" or "Group" is not an option, nor is there a group button on the toolbar. Is there a problem with our settings? We used to be able to add them and now we can't unless we copy an existing group.
View 7 Replies View RelatedBeen dealing with this off and on and it usually works itself out when Iam completely updated with Windows Updates. I don't even have theupdate usually associated with this (ends with a 28). I have changed my folder type to "contacts" and that doesn't workeither. Has anyone found a fix for this yet? I can't believe Microsoftis still hasn't figured out this problem after this long.

I have the contacts folder organised with all my contacts in it.. but every time i turn my laptop on another folder with the same name but the standard folder icon appears rite next 2 my contacts folder...and in the cloned 1 there is nothing in it!!! is there a way 2 prevent a certain folder from being created because guess wat? that ridiculas user account conrtol or watever it is is saying that i need permision 2 delete the cloned contacts folder!!! its my computer and i am the only 1 with an account and i dont have permision 2 delete a folder...plus on top of that user account conrtol is off!

Anyway, initially I was trying to create a mailing group, but could not see a choice for that option in my Contacts folder. Turns out it was set on "Pictures and Videos" and I read, in this Forum, how to fix that so it would show my list of contacts, and would therefore show the choice for setting up a group. That worked fine. My problem is - my changes don't seem to want to stay! For instance, today I was working in my picture folders, and then when I went back into Windows Mail and clicked on Contacts, it was back to showing "Pictures and Videos!" Why won't it stay on Contacts after I configure the folder? I do click "Apply" and then "OK," but that doesn't seem to make a difference. It keeps changing back.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI want to move my "My Documents" folder, etc to a separate partition on my hard drive. I started moving the folders, My Documents, My Pictures, My Music, etc and when I got to the Contacts folder everything screwed up. Now I can't use Windows Mail. When I try to launch Windows Mail the first message I get is:
"CONTACTS FAILED TO LOAD."

For some reason my contacts folder started behaving like a pictures folder and could no longer import .csv files etc. So, in haste I deleted it and tried to create a new one, but it just behaves like an ordinary folder and not like the 'special' contacts folder...

View 8 Replies View RelatedForgive me, but I am new to Vista and Windows Live Mail. I set up my Contacts folder by importing addresses from Outlook Express (.wab file). However, when creating a message from within Windows Live Mail, not all of the Contacts are shown there. I placed the Contacts folder on my desktop for easy access, and when I look there, the addresses that I am missing are shown. It's as if the Windows Live Mail software is using another Contacts folder. I checked the Options tab under Tools to see if the address source requires identification, but could not find such a reference.

1/ LDIF
I exported my contacts in Thunderbird under an LDIF format.
I then imported this LDIF file within Contacts
The import stops 1/5 of the way, simply saying that there is an error
in the contacts, and it stays stuck
2/ CVS
I exported my contacts in Thunderbird under a CVS file. I then tried to import the file within Contacts but cannot do the mapping:
- all column headings are lumped together, with plenty of ","
- all accentuated caracters are replaced by squares
Also, with the LDIF method, 50 contacts out of 300 were imported. In these imported contacts, all accentuated caracters were replaced by symbols. I opened the CVS file in Microsoft Excel: everything is fine.
I installed Outlook 2003 on my computer which has Vista Ultimate so I could use a Dell Axim. Now when I go to fax a document using Windows Fax and Scan and try to select a contact, Outlook Contacts is displayed instead of Windows Contacts. It won't let me choose to use Windows Contacts either. I tried using Default Programs to associate Windows Contacts with it's defaults but that didn't work.

But when I try to export them to Windows Vista Contacts I loose all information. My outlook 2007 is a trial version and will expire next time I turn it on, so I have to get it done today.

Also is that the best card i can get for the cash? i would prefer ATI but would be willing to go over to Nvidia. i currently have a HD radeon 2600 XT which is a slim one, depth wise anything would fit, but i think a longer card would have a hard time fitting.

The setting that used to work, but appearently doesn't anymore, uploaded the recent pictures on my camera. Now, it uploads all of my pictures instead of the most recent. View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm running Vista 32 bit on my hp notebook but i have some programs that are not compatible with it yet, so i decided to partition my hardrive and have xp on one of the partitions. so now C: is vista D: is xp and i think F: is recovery but it was D::confused: anyway the problem im having is trying to boot back into vista.....iv gone into BIOS and had a look for booting options but it just lists the name of the HDD and not the partitions.....Anyone know how to select what partition you want to boot from?? Because it auto boots from the xp partition and i can see that in disk manager but not sure how i can change it back to C:

Is there a way to change the extension for those items I want to forward. I have tried replacing the extension, but can't make it work so far. I don't want to have to revert to my laptop (XP)
View 7 Replies View RelatedMy "Windows Contact" file has different addresses in it than the list that comes up when I "Select Recipients". There are folders in the contact file that I use to be able to access. For example, with Outlook in XP you could have your main identies contacts and then other contacts or shared contacts. This use to be the case in my Windows Mail until recently. I don't know why but they're no longer there. When I choose "Windows Contacts" the correct list shows up with all the folders but I can't load them into an email without retyping the address manually. If I click on "To" or "Select Recipients" the list that comes up appears to be an old WAB file and not the correct addresses.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhenever I send an email with pictures embedded in the body of the email, all the recipient sees is a bunch of red x's. Typically, what I am sending is a forward of something someone else sent to me. Since I received and viewed the pictures just fine, clearly the problem is not in how the pictures are in the email. The preview of my outgoing email always shows the pictures just fine. But the recipients never can view them.
I have a Vista computer, and am using Windows Mail with my Cox email account. My wife is on the same computer. We have separate user accounts. She has the same setup as me - Windows Mail with her Cox email account. The security software is Microsoft Security Essentials. We had previously been using McAfee. My problems remained the same under both softwares. My wife has had no problems with sending pictures. She will receive the same email as me, forward it to someone else, and they can vie the pictures just fine. She can forward an email to me, and I can view the pictures. But if I forward that email back to her, like everyone else, all she sees is red x's.
When I use the Bcc option for sending an email the recipients do not show up when I pull up the email from my 'Sent' folder. How do I change that? Often times I like to know who I have sent an email to.
