What is really odd is that it registers the printer, shows the ink available in each cartridge, and the printer will print my emails from comcast. I loaded the newest drivers, updated everything. I am stumped. Microsoft Vista will not print microsoft word documents.

May 22, 2009I looked but couldn't find this issue elsewhere. I noticed that when I opened my files, there were extra MY DOCUMENTS folders. Other people who used this computer apparently messed around and copied MY DOCUMENTS folders. I tried to remedy the mess, but did so when I was tired, and seem to have made matters worse. Now, when I go to the Start Menu> Documents the documents are not there. I am at a loss as to how to fix this.

Feb 17, 2009I'm the user Jack with file structure looking like: C:/Users/Jack/ here several folders are listed including My Documents (Looks like shortcut) and Documents. Not sure why both appear but I can't get into My Documents but can get into Documents. Inside My Documents is My Music (looks like shortcut) but I can't get into that either. What am I missing here? I'm sensing Vista uses folders as "pointers" but I'm not sure thats a lot different than XP? Very confusing why with admin privileges I can't get into some folders.

Feb 25, 2010When I click on a web link in an application, it opens the url in MS Word, not Firefox (default bowser).
For example:
In CCleaner if I click the 'check for updates' link in the bottom of the window, Word will open up, a download box will appear and then it displays the website as a document.
This happens for all apps, however it doesn't happen if I click on a .html/.url document from explorer, that will launch Firefox just fine.
Burning Word Docs (.doc) To CD
Jul 24, 2009Until yesterday, I would create a backup to my word documents by inserting a CD and following the prompts erasing old files and burning updated files. Today I inserted the CD, received the prompt to erase; erased; reinserted the CD and nothing happened. Can't get a prompt of any kind. I'm using Vista on a Gateway laptop.

May 26, 2009Whenever I double-click a Word doc from within Explorer, Word opens and says it could not load the document, as if it could not find it.
1. I can always open the document from within Word.
2. And here is something I just found out: I just closed Word and attempted to open the document again from within Explorer, and the document opened without a problem.
Running Word 2007 SP2 on Vista HP SP1. I (just) checked the Event Viewer to see if it recorded the problem, and could find nothing...amazing, since it seems almost every mouse movement and keyclick is logged.
Won't Spell Check In Word
Feb 16, 2010My vista laptop won't spell check in Word. I have tried a number of things to try and solve this problem but none seem to work. I have gone to WORD OPTIONS; PROOFING and checked all the appropriate boxes and it still won't check my spellings. It works for the grammar but doesn't even pick up made up words that I try to test it with! I have checked my dictionary and ran the Microsoft Office Diagnostics. I have watched the tutorials and read one other post with the same problem but there was no solution for it.

I've joined several job finder sites online and the majority of them have an option that allows for downloading a resume. Some of these sites have responded to me with notice that I have a virus in my Word document. I have no idea how I could have gotten a virus in a simple resume but it has me disturbed. How many of these job finder sites have scrapped my resume due to this virus (I ask myself)? How do I go about removing the virus? I have Windows Live OneCare and have it set to do a virus scan once a week but it hasn't found anything. Do I uninstall Word 2007 then reinstall it?

Feb 16, 2009Word 2007 (on vista 32 bit) crashed this morning. It won't open again without crashing. It opens the window, I can see that it is asking me to open the recued document, on the left side, but then it crashes... looks for a problem... nothing... then it says "An Unknown error has occured" - but the litle window has "Endnote x1" in the header. - I have Endnote X1, obviously, and they don't work wonderfully together, but never this kind of problem. I've installed all the recent service packs, in the last few days. Word updates itself I'm pretty sure. Explorer crashes all the time, I think that it adobe related though *sigh*.

Mar 23, 2008When I receive a Word document as an attachment in an email Windows Mail will not let me open it. The file is in the email and has the proper icon and file extension. When I try to open it it asks if I want to Save or Open the document; I choose Open. The I get an error message: "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel." I can save the attachment to my desktop and then open it no problem but I don't think that I should have to do that. I should be able to double click on any attachment and it should open with the proper program, right?

I need the number of words to let potential editors know when I submit something to them and use the normal Word Count that comes with Windows. These are stored in a sub-section of Documents. Today I discovered that a right click offers "more" - giving me extra column categories than I didn't know about, and they include one specifically titled Word Count. This seemed like manna from Heaven until I created and used this extra column. Some of the variations between the original W Count from the document and the one automatically inserted by Windows in the column are quite striking.

Jul 6, 2008Word 2007 temporarily freezes to the point that I cannot use it when I do certain things like click on text box and have to wait for the list of templates to be shown. I have to open task manager which makes the list go away, but the next time I click on text box it works normally. This happens on other things where theres similar pretty list of things.

Mar 23, 2008I am having the hardest time trying to catagorize & rename my pictures. Everytime I go to a picture file in my document files, I highlight the pictures that I want to rename. Then when I click rename & type the name of the pics that I want labeled, it scrambles the pictures in a different order & the numbers of the pics are pic 1, pic 1, pic 2, pic 2, etc, etc.
