Every time that I open Windows Mail from Internet Explorer, it opens minimized. I must then manually maximize it. I have googled this problem and find it as a general problem in VISTA without any solutions listed,or shall I say that all the solutions listed, like draging or increasing the window size and then to close it.

when I open Windows mail from the command bar it goes straight to the taskbar and I have to click it to open in a normal window. How can I get it to open in a normal window like it's supposed to do? This is in IE7 64bit, it opens normally in the 32bit version. When it is minimized in the taskbar any left or right click will open it so I cannot just right click it and use a command. I've tried all the obvious stuff and nothing seems to work.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI use msn premium,to get online, my email accounts are.msn and hotmail. when i am online and what to reply to something online, like on craiglist,vista opens window mail and not my msn email. tech suport says there is nothing i can do. it sucks. i dont like windows mail i like. msn and hotmail. maybe i should just buy a mac next time. what i need to now is if i upgrade to window 7 will i have the same problem can someone email me.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI had no issues with Windows Mail as my default client and a new message window would open when I clicked mailto links. Earlier today I clicked a mailto for the first time in a week or so, and it tried to open Microsoft Outlook 2003, which is also installed on my machine, but not the default mail handler. Going into the Mozilla Firefox options, I found that for some reason it was defaulting to Outlook. I changed the setting to Windows Mail, but now instead of opening the new message window, it just opens Windows Mail.

After checking a few threads here, I checked the defaults and set associations and was able to fix that. My problem now is that when I click a mailto link it only opens Windows
Mail and not a new message with the email address and subject (as Outlook does when I use it in Win XP).
I got this problem after I installed Vista SP1. Inside Windows Explorer, when I double click a folder in the right pane, that folder is opened up as a new second window. No matter what I change in the settings window I cant get rid of this. If I instead right-click the folder and select "Browse", the folder contents is shown in the same window, but (as I said) double click the folder icon, a new window opens up. Seems to me that "double-clicking" a folder in the right pane triggers the "Open" action instead of "Browse" action.

Now, when I minimize a window it shows as a small strip above that taskbar. How do I get it back like it was when I first installed Vista?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have to take medication twice a day, and I tend to forget to take it. Now, I'm always at my computer, when I'm not working, so in the past I always set up outlook to give me notifications twice a day that I needed to take my meds.
Since having to do a clean install of vista, I'm having some problems getting outlook (the whole of office actually) to install properly. The only thing which really works is word, which is basically all I need, apart from the notification thingy of outlook. Also, in the past I noticed that outlook was kind of eating up some resources, and caused some problems if I just left it running all the time. As I use gmail, I didn't have it set up with a mail account, and it kept asking me to set it up, at least twice a week. Anyways, I would prefer not to use outlook anymore.
So right now I'm temporarily using windows calender (or agenda, as it's called in the dutch version), but it can't be minimized to tray. Now, it has the advantage of giving me a notification even if I haven't turned it on. Unfortunately though, it only does so once. If I close the program after I've received a notification, it then no longer notifies me for the next time I need to take my meds.
So I was wondering if anyone knows a (preferably free) program which can give me 2 notifications per day, at preset times. The program needs to not take too many resources, and needs to minimize to tray.
I'm having a tough time trying to start Gigaget download manager via another program, and have it start minimized to tray. Seems to be no option in the program. If I just start it, then launch NirCmd to send the window a 'hide' message, it minimizes to tray, but then the Open tray menu command won't work. It will only show the button on the taskbar. The window won't actually open.

If I click it, a black screen appears in the top left corner of the screen with no border. Right clicking does nothing. I have just installed Diskeeper and suspect it may be the culprit.

Whenever I minimize my game of halo, I can't bring it back up for some reason. It'll show in the upper left hand corner Halo, but it wont come up, I wait forever, and it never comes up, so I end up, closing it out, and ending the game. At first I tried to get used to it, but sometimes my screen will minimize because of updates, and other stuff, and its really annoying because I can't bring back up my game of halo. View 4 Replies View RelatedI turn on my computer today, and all of a sudden the minimized tabs for the programs I'm using are on the wrong side of the taskbar. They're on the right side, near the clock, rather than the left side by the start menu. They are also so small that I cannot read them, and if I have more than two they don't show up. I know it's a minor problem, but it's really annoying to me, and I can't figure out how to make them go to the way they were before.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've noticed that if you follow these steps, the cursor isn't on the file anymore:
1) Open a folder with some files.
2) Click on a file. Pressing the arrow keys should move the file selection around (I call this the cursor).
3) Minimize the window.
4) Restore the window.
5) The cursor isn't on the file anymore. The current selected file has a gray background. Pressing arrow keys have no effect on the file selection. Does anyone know how to fix this?
When I open windows explorer in either XP or Vista it opens the "My Document" folder as the default. However I only want "My Computer" to be expanded and everything else left unexpanded.

I re-associated jpegs with the Photo Gallery, but whereas previously a double click on a jpg would open that image on its own in Photo Gallery, now it opens up the whole Gallery with 100's of thumbs.

Now, all the sudden whenever I click on a page it takes 10-15 seconds (sometimes more) before the page 'hits'. It will then load as fast as before. The problem is this new 'waiting period' before the page loads. I have a high speed connection with 27795 kbs down and 958 kbs up. I thought maybe my browser had become corrupt somehow so I upgraded to IE8 but still have the same problem. My system is spyware and virus free (just checked twice).
View 9 Replies View RelatedI was always able to click on the clip for an attachment to open in Word or Excel and it opened immediately, without having to save the attachment. All of a sudden, I can't do rhat. When I click on it, Word or Excel opens, but it tells me it can't find the file. If I click on save attachments, it does that to my documents and then I can open it up. I "repaired" Office 2007, in case there was any glitch that happened with that, but it didn't change the situation - What might have happened, and how can I fix it so that attachments can open directly when I click on the clip on the e-mail.

2. And here is something I just found out: I just closed Word and attempted to open the document again from within Explorer, and the document opened without a problem.
Running Word 2007 SP2 on Vista HP SP1. I (just) checked the Event Viewer to see if it recorded the problem, and could find nothing...amazing, since it seems almost every mouse movement and keyclick is logged.
I bought a new dell studio laptop and it came with Windows Vista. I just bought it two weeks ago and its driving me nuts. TO the point that I don't even use it. When the letter "h" is typed in, history opens up. When the letter T is opened up, a new tab opens. THis is so frustrating. I searched the forum and there was a similar post to remove hotkeys. There was a link I downloaded and it was supposed to remove the hotkeys from registry.

I've spent many hours on the internet and have another post that don't seem to be getting anymore takers Now I found that Mobsync.exe opens when I unplug my printer. It stays open for about 10 seconds and then unloads. When I plug the printer back in it opens again for about 10 seconds and then closes. Of course Mobsync.exe opens many without having to unplug my printer.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWe are all familliar with "Explore" and the Tree structure on the left side, vs "Open", which opens a folder in a single window. Normally, in Explore, as you click on the folders you travel thru the tree and can pretty quickly navigate thru the system, whereas with Open, you can get there, but it isn't quite as easy if you take a wrong turn to back out & recover. Explore is a good name for that option, as that's what it's best for. It also means you don't have to have two windows open to move files, as you can drag to any folder in the nav pane with relative ease. With Open you're better off with multiple open windows for those file relocation tricks..................
