I've been trying to prevent Mobsync.exe from running. I've spent many hours on the internet and have another post that don't seem to be getting anymore takers Now I found that Mobsync.exe opens when I unplug my printer. It stays open for about 10 seconds and then unloads. When I plug the printer back in it opens again for about 10 seconds and then closes. Of course Mobsync.exe opens many without having to unplug my printer.
View 7 RepliesI looked around for some time, but i did not get any usable answer. I am running Vista Ultima 64 and i ask fior advice applying to Vista and NOT 2000. The Problem: using process explorer and tasskmanager i constantly see mobsync.exe running as well as wmplayer, invisible in the background.It looks like they index something. I found out that this must have something to do with either offline files, sync center or mediaplayer sharing, maybe also related to the USB sticks i have in my PC. But no matter what tips and tricks i apply, no matter what i set, what service i disable...i cannot get rid of those constantly starting. I dont what triggers them! I want that mobsync.exe as well as wmplayer NEVER appear in the list of running tasks anymore, no "indexing" of my drives, nothing.

I have a Marvell Yukon 88E8001/8003/8010 PCI Gigabit Ethernet Controller that is connecting to my router ok, seeing the network ok and connecting to the internet... for a few very slow seconds, then it dies.
I have another box connected to the router that is absolutely fine, so I know there is nothing wrong with my connectivity. I have managed to use a USB wireless connection from the Vista x64 box with no problems at all.
The driver is yk60x64.sys v10.27.2.3 from the Marvell site dated 19th Nov 2007.

I'm having this prblem for long time now but recently it happens a lot, I use wireless lan on my laptop for surfing interent evey time and then i just get disconnected from the internet with no reason, fire fox says "failed to connect" and when i try internet explorer it just say connection failed
View 6 Replies View RelatedFor several weeks I have been trying to solve a problem with being disconnected from internet sites. Tons of troubleshooting have not been successful. The problem is this: I can go to any website and open one or two windows but when I try to open a third (or sometimes fourth) window (especially if it is a 'heavy' activity site, e.g. Pogo Games or some site that requires multiple windows) I suddenly get disconnected. It is as if I am overloading something (I have 3 GB of RAM) or causing something or other to overload. This happens whether I am using my AOL browser, Internet Explorer 8.0, or Firefox...
so it is NOT the browser. With AOL when I get disconnected the browser will immediately try to restart and will be successful except if I have not 'removed' the offending 3rd or 4th window it will soon disconnect again. I try to quickly X out the 'extra' window but if I am not quick enough it will repeat that cycle again and again up to 6 or 7 times until I can 'catch' and X out the extra window. I have no idea where to start troubleshooting but it is very exasperating. I have a Dell Inspiron 530s, 200GB HD, 3GB RAM, Vista Home Premium OS, 32-bit. (Question: would upgrading to 64bit make a possible difference?)
My computer is loaded with applications, large graphic files, etc. etc. It may be that I need to simplify. Also have more than one anti-virus and/or anti-malware application. Could that be the problem? I need HELP Please.....If reinstalling the OS would be the solution I would do that as a last resort because I have so much personal data that has to be backed up as well as dozens and dozens of applications that would have to be reinstalled. But if I can't find another solution to this problem first I can go that route (again). P.S. I also tried a 'Repair Install' and got the message : Nothing to repair'...although that only took a few seconds so I doubted that a scan was done.
When I'm using a browser, IE or Firefox, when I click on a tab or just by scrolling on a page, when it's connected to a hub, my mouse act like it's disconnected and I hear the disconnect/connect usb sound, the led of the mouse and keyboard are flashing.
While I'm watching videos with media player or power DVD, the keyboad stop working for a second or two, the num lock is flashing. I only have my keyboard connect on my usb hub, I tried two different hub, the one on my monitor and a stand alone hub.
I'm trying to download a file from a private server which is about 16 GB. Undoubtedly, this takes very long, and I usually leave my computer to do its thing while I'm at school, but the internet randomly disconnects and the download won't resume. I diagnose and repair the internet and it comes up with
1. plug a cable into the network adapter "local area connection* 10"
2. Move your computer to another loaction (or something like that)
3. Automatically get a new IP.This is getting very irritating and it happens around 37% and 25% of my file.
I use dual monitors. My laptop at home and the laptop and a 24" at work. Every time I disconnect from the work monitor my desktop defaults back to the laptop. (as it should) However, when reconnected to the 24" I have to re-configure my desktops. Is their some way in vista to save two separate Desktop profiles? Is there some vista compatible 3rd party.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have my computer run an automatic backup each night to my USB connected external hard drive then automatically hibernate. However, I always need to remove the USB connection to my external HD before turning my computer on in the morning, or else it would just display a blinking dot when turned on. When I do forget about removing the external hd, I am forced to manually shutdown the computer. Once its turned back on, I get a message saying the resume from hibernate wasn't successful, and it asks me if I want to retry or delete the hibernation file. I choose to retry (having already disconnected the HD) and Vista resumes fine. I'm wondering how to resume Vista from hibernate without having to always disconnect my external HD prior to turning it on. The external hard drive is Western Digital and I'm using Vista Service Pack 1. Also, my sister's laptop resumes fine from hibernate with the external HD plugged in. One last thing, my computer resumes fine when put to sleep with the external HD plugged, its only hibernate that this happens.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a new ASUS Laptop with Vista Home SP1 (with a sweet 512M dedicated video card) connecting wirelessly via a Linksys WRT54G router. The firmware on the router is current and Linksys assures me that there are no known issues with Vista and internet connectivity. I have a MacBookPro that connects w/o issue (wireless) and three XP machines that connect just fine (wireless and direct connect) so I know my network is solid. The laptop always connects on reboot, but conks out without warning after 45 minutes or up to three hours. Even when it seems like the laptop is offline, I can often ping a website through the command prompt. The "diagnose and repair" option just tells me eveything is fine. Windows Firewall has default settings. Already disabled IPv6.

Vista is able to locate the printer on the network but when I select it for installation, for some time, Vista tries to connect and then pops up this message: "Failed Connecting to Printer - Access Denied" And then another window pops up with this message: "Spooler Subsystem Application stopped woring and has been closed." In fact the spooler service always stops, so I have to restart it on the services windows, within Administrative Tools of the Control Panel. The machine is new and has been installed yesterday. Everything else works fine. The printer I am trying to install is on a Windows XP Professional machine within the same network (naturally).

I also have a new HP Laptop with Vista premium that has also had the same printer attached to it at times so the drivers are installed on HP laptop. I recently installed a router so I can use laptop wirelessly. That works fine. However, I am unable to print to the host printer wirelessly. I get message saying printer cannot communicate with computer. I tried everything I found on Google searches. I have enabled printer sharing on both. Do I have to make the Workgroup names the same and if so do I change the Dell with XP or the HP with Vista? I changed the Dell once to no avail so I changed back. Do computer names have to be same? I am a novice at networking.

There are just a few spurious characters printed at the top of this unwanted page. The following "proper" pages are OK. I have, so it seems, the lastest driver available.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI cannot set the default printer in Vista Business with SP1. I am connected to a domain trying to set a network printer hosted from a server as the default printer. I have seen a dozen or more questions similiar to this in this group as well as on other forums and found no answer. I see a MS-MVP come on and tell people to remove local printers such as the XPS and adobe printers. This is a ridiculous solution. Sure it may allow you to connect to a network printer but you have removed printers that you are going to need to use again. Unacceptable.
So far the only other solution that does not include deleting all the local printers off of the machine is to make sure you have write permissions to the default printer registry key. I have checked this and I do have write permissions(Full Control). SO WHAT NEXT? IS MICROSOFT EVER GOING TO COME OUT WITH ANOTHER FIX FOR THIS?
Until yesterday my internet worked fantastic. I could click on a favorite or my homepage and instantly be on the site. Now, all the sudden whenever I click on a page it takes 10-15 seconds (sometimes more) before the page 'hits'. It will then load as fast as before. The problem is this new 'waiting period' before the page loads. I have a high speed connection with 27795 kbs down and 958 kbs up. I thought maybe my browser had become corrupt somehow so I upgraded to IE8 but still have the same problem. My system is spyware and virus free (just checked twice).
View 9 Replies View RelatedI was always able to click on the clip for an attachment to open in Word or Excel and it opened immediately, without having to save the attachment. All of a sudden, I can't do rhat. When I click on it, Word or Excel opens, but it tells me it can't find the file. If I click on save attachments, it does that to my documents and then I can open it up. I "repaired" Office 2007, in case there was any glitch that happened with that, but it didn't change the situation - What might have happened, and how can I fix it so that attachments can open directly when I click on the clip on the e-mail.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded my XP home edition to Vista home premium with an upgrade disk provided by Dell. Before the upgrade I uninstalled my HP 2575 printer and software because it was listed as a compatibility issue. After upgrade I reinstalled new software from HP for my printer from the HP website. I plugged in the USB cable from my printer. Vista recognized the new device but would not put it in the printer folder in the control panel. Vista did find driver software online but could not install it. The HP solution center tells me no HP devices have been detected. When I try to print I get a message that I don’t have a printer hooked up. That’s the back ground here is what I have done.
I have updated Vista; most were successful some security ones failed. I have Service pack 1 I uninstalled and reinstalled HP software many times I started my spooler and reinstalled printer and software many times. I checked Task Manager and the hpqste08 services are running. I uninstalled virus protection and turned off the firewall. I have done everything I can find at HP, Microsoft and here. I tried to reload Vista but got a Worker Thread Returned at Bad IRQL error message so I stopped reload.
The one odd thing I did find was in the Device Manager. In the Device Manager the HP 2575 is listed twice. Once under IEEE 1284.4 compatible printer and once under Other Devices. When I click on the one under IEEE 1284.4 compatible printer and update driver software it finds the driver and says it’s up to date. When I do the same on the one under Other Devices, windows finds the software for this device but encountered an error when trying to install it. It does this when looking online and when looking in C: drive.The printer still does not show up in the printer folder in the control panel.
I have a Vista Home Premium Laptop, an XP Home laptop and an XP Home desktop (and an XBox 360) connected to my Linksys wireless G router and an XP Home desktop connected via CAT5 to the same router. All connect to the internet fine. The XP laptop finds and uses the printer on the desktop fine. I had setup a share of the Canon I560 printer, connected to my XP desktop, on the Vista laptop and it worked fine. I don't believe I made any changes, but now it won't find the printer and I can't seem to install a new copy.
The Vista machine will not detect the printer and won't even find the XP desktop or laptop on the network. The XP machines find each other fine. All machines get their IP address from the router via DHCP. All are in the same workgroup, or it seems so. Strangely the Vista machine shows WORKGROUP and the XP machines show Workgroup, even if I type the name in caps, XP still shows Workgroup and Vista WORKGROUP.............
I have a Vista Desktop that has a wireless router. I have shared a printer, but I would like my Mac laptop to be able to print to it. Do I install the printer driver on the Mac or on the Vista machine? If I install on the Vista machine, is there a special installer? The printer is an HP DeskJet 2445.

1. I can always open the document from within Word.
2. And here is something I just found out: I just closed Word and attempted to open the document again from within Explorer, and the document opened without a problem.
Running Word 2007 SP2 on Vista HP SP1. I (just) checked the Event Viewer to see if it recorded the problem, and could find nothing...amazing, since it seems almost every mouse movement and keyclick is logged.
I bought a new dell studio laptop and it came with Windows Vista. I just bought it two weeks ago and its driving me nuts. TO the point that I don't even use it. When the letter "h" is typed in, history opens up. When the letter T is opened up, a new tab opens. THis is so frustrating. I searched the forum and there was a similar post to remove hotkeys. There was a link I downloaded and it was supposed to remove the hotkeys from registry.

View 8 Replies View RelatedWhenever I start my computer (HP Pavilion dv5 laptop) from being shut off or if I choose "restart" from the start menu when Windows Vista (64 bit) opens up it opens up to a blank screen. - I have a curser I can control with the touchpad or mouse (I can't recall what happens to a right click function...) - the screen looks completely black (uniform in color) I need to exit using control+alt+delete and then log off and log back on. Only then will I get the desktop top to show for me.

How can I get it to open in a normal window like it's supposed to do? This is in IE7 64bit, it opens normally in the 32bit version. When it is minimized in the taskbar any left or right click will open it so I cannot just right click it and use a command. I've tried all the obvious stuff and nothing seems to work.

View 5 Replies View RelatedWe are all familliar with "Explore" and the Tree structure on the left side, vs "Open", which opens a folder in a single window. Normally, in Explore, as you click on the folders you travel thru the tree and can pretty quickly navigate thru the system, whereas with Open, you can get there, but it isn't quite as easy if you take a wrong turn to back out & recover. Explore is a good name for that option, as that's what it's best for. It also means you don't have to have two windows open to move files, as you can drag to any folder in the nav pane with relative ease. With Open you're better off with multiple open windows for those file relocation tricks..................
