Windows Mail Allowed Kilobytes
Apr 17, 2009
I've been trying to send a small video to a friend but it won't pass because it says that it is too big; I just received this video so someone else was able to send it to me via e-mail. Why can't I send it to someone else? This is the message I get : Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '552 5.3.4 a message size of 15002 kilobytes exceeds the size limit of 15000 kilobytes computed for this transaction', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 552, Error Number: 0x800CCC6D

I have just started having problems sending emails, I am receiving my emails with no problems. I have even added the windows mail to be allowed through the firewall. I don't know if there was a windows update that has caused the problem since I have not had problems like this before. A window pops up stating....your server has unexpectedly terminated the connections. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or longer periods of inactivity. Error number 0x800CCCoF. My internet provides say there is no problem on their end and that it must be a firewall problem.

I am in Windows Defender attempting to remove or disable Startup Programs. When I click some programs, even though they are listed as 'permitted' I am unable to remove or disable them. The reason is that the remove and diable buttons do not highlight and are unlcickable. This does not happen for all Startup Programs. The offenders are Adobe Acrobat, iTunes, and Lenovo Registration.

Have Vista Ultimate and am trying to set one of the dreams as my desktop. I have downloaded and installed all Ultimate upgrades (Dreamscene plus the dream packs) as well as the Stardock Deskscapes but I casn't get any of the installed dreams to work. I get an error message saying "Dream is not allowed" with no option of fixing it (or clue as to why it's not allowed). Anyone have a similar problem or a solution?

I seem to have accidentally erased my Documents folder. I have my documents stored on another machine, and had to reconfigure my second machine. In the process of redirecting my Documents folder to the new location, I deleted it somehow. Now, when I go to install software and some updates, it can't find the Documents folder. I've tried to simply create a new folder, but it doesn't allow me the option to change the contects location.

Is it not possible to attach a folder containing jpeg pics? It doesn't seem to be allowed. I was planning to send a compressed folder containing about 20 pics and thought this would save send/receive time.

I have Vista Home Premium 32-bit. Hundreds of years ago, UNIX had a command (and maybe still does) that allowed you to check which version of a command was being invoked on the command line. For example, assume you have several Java versions on your machine. The command: whence java would give you the complete path for the specific "java.exe" that would be used if you typed, for example:

I am so tired of all of the, what appear to be, bugs with this new system. The irritating pop-ups everytime I want to do something (like access user controls, delete a folder, etc.) that want confirmation. Unfortunately I purchased this comptuer with Vista Home installed. Is there a way to just install XP Home back on this thing? I have tried with the XP Home CD and it appears that it will not allow the system to be rolled back.

I've had a problem for a while now. Every time I open Windows Mail up, or the news groups, I get a message saying Windows mail isn't my default mail program, and asks if I want it to be. I click yes every time, but I will still get this message when I open Windows Mail again the next day. Everything's works OK after I click this message. No other errors or anything.

Can't Windows Mail autofill e-mail addresses from Windows Contacts into the "To: "line? Opening Windows Contacts searching for an address and moving an address across seems awkward. It seems that you should start trying the address and it should autofil.

i also tried to change my default email to windows live, it doesn't work, comes up w/ some weird kind of mail that doesn't send messages (not sure if it's trying to use windows mail even tho it's set to windows live mail, or what). so, i'm trying to set up my windows live account (which is new, just set it up a couple of months ago), through windows mail. tried setting to pop3.live.com and smtp.live.com and when it goes to connect i keep getting this error message:
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop3.live.com', Server: 'pop3.live.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error:

i really want my default e-mail server to be set up to something that works. and i do not want to go back to using my yahoo account.

How stable is Windows Live Mail? Does it convert your old Windows Mail messages and keep storing messages on your computer, or only online? And what about Contacts? Is there something good to read to read about moving from Windows Mail to Windows Live Mail? The material at is pretty superficial.

What, if any, inferences can be drawn from the fact that there are typically three times more posts about Windows Mail (WM) than Windows Live Mail (WLM). Could it be that:
(a) WM is more troublesome than WLM (in view of the greater complexity of WLM this seems improbable)?
(b) Many more people use WM (seems probable - I wonder what the figures are)?
(c) A higher proportion of technically savvy users are likely to be early adopters of Windows 7 who have to find an alternative to WM. Some then migrate to a non-Microsoft email client such as Thunderbird, while those that try WLM find they can master it with few problems (plausible)?
My feeling is that there seem to be an awful lot of folk hanging on to WM and that they might be put off updating to Windows 7 because neither WM (nor Outlook Express) will not be available (at least not in a securely supported version) to run on it. I am cross-posting this to both newsgroups and suggest that replies go to WM as it has the larger following.

I'm unable to send emails in my windows mail. When i select 'send/receive' a pop-message comes up telling me: The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.
The rejected e-mail address was 'natanyafeigin@gmail.com'. Subject 'Re: hi', Account: 'pop3.mweb.co.za', Server: 'smtp.vodacom.co.za', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '554 5.7.1 : Recipient address rejected: Access denied', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 554, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

For the last couple of weeks when I receive mail with attached pdf files, if I try to move or delete the mail Windows Mail hangs. Sometime it recovers but otherwise I need to kill it. I can open the attachment by clicking on the paper clip etc and everything seems fine so I don't think it's a security thing.

I've tried using Control Panel where I can't find Windows Mail as an option for default e-mail handler.
Tried changing by accessing Properties from Windows Mail but when I change to "Make this the defalut e-mail handler, apply and save then exit and return to Properties the setting has returned to Not the default e-mail handler.
I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium.
Note:
Control panel does show Windows mail as being the Default Newsgroup handler.
