Access User Controls Delete A Folder Not Allowed System Rolled Back

Mar 25, 2008

I am so tired of all of the, what appear to be, bugs with this new system. The irritating pop-ups everytime I want to do something (like access user controls, delete a folder, etc.) that want confirmation. Unfortunately I purchased this comptuer with Vista Home installed. Is there a way to just install XP Home back on this thing? I have tried with the XP Home CD and it appears that it will not allow the system to be rolled back.

Don't Permission .pst File Rolled Back

May 28, 2008

Vista 64 ultimate updated or something and I lost quick launch, my back ground picture and most importantI go to open outlook 2007 and it says I don't have permission for my .pst file so I FINALLY rolled back to the 23 last night and it fixed it. Then when I got up this morning it auto updated and it went back to the way it was except I lost the 23rd as a rollback option to auto update so tryed next oldest the 25th but that did not work. ALSO MY FILES ARE LOCKED OUT i TRY AND GO TO PROPERTIES AND GIVE MYSELF, A ADMINISTRAOR, PERMISSION AND IT STILL WON'T LET ME ACCESS them. Oh I am running service pack 1 with a gig of ram a raptor for OS and a 320GB for Data Music Etc. on a new p35 giga-byte board I got 6 months ago. I was just going to reload but afraid I would do it for nothing.

Recreating Documents Folder, Not Allowed

Apr 28, 2008

I seem to have accidentally erased my Documents folder. I have my documents stored on another machine, and had to reconfigure my second machine. In the process of redirecting my Documents folder to the new location, I deleted it somehow. Now, when I go to install software and some updates, it can't find the Documents folder. I've tried to simply create a new folder, but it doesn't allow me the option to change the contects location.

Parental Controls Blocks Hotmail Access

Mar 1, 2009

Since activating Parental Controls using Vista 64-bit SP1, whenever I try to access my hotmail account using the web gui, I get the following error message: This webpage is not available. The webpage at Sign In might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. More information on this error Below is the original error message Error 320 (net::ERR_INVALID_RESPONSE): Unknown error.

I can access my HotMail messages by direct download into the Outlook application on my Vista PC, and also via web gui in XP. How can I figure out what setting I need to relax in Parental Controls, to allow me to access my mail? For me it is less urgent than for my son: he is also prevented from using the web gui, and doesn't have the luxury of an Outlook account.

Icons/Files From User Folder Showing Up In Computer Folder

Nov 26, 2009

I have several icons/files from my "User" folder showing up in the "Computer" folder (several in duplicate), PLUS numerous blank icons. This seems to have occurred after the Common Files folder became corrupted, after I somewhat riskily decided to power off while Vista was attempting to come out of Sleep mode - it had already taken about 3 mins and I was in a hurry - bad move, I know. That delay appears to have been due to an old version of Online Armor, and has now been fixed (by an update). Chkdsk scanned and (apparently) corrected some errors, and I also ran SFC which said it had corrected some errors but had also found some that it couldn't correct.

Get Back Deleted User Account And Files

Jun 29, 2009

I deleted the user account, then realized that the files were not sent to the recycle bin. I also can see the hidden file, its size, and the name of the file but the warning states it cannot be opened because the path has been changed or altered. I still see that the user has many files, and I do not seem to have gained any disk space...is it still possible to get these back.

I know when police agencies are searching for files on the computer they have software that recovers a lot of evidence...is there any out there that I can use?

Can’t Delete A User With No Name?

Mar 31, 2008

I have been having this problem for a while now. Under any file I download or any shortcut I make under security is a User with no name. This is what it says: Account Unknown (S-1-5-21-3555475015-4039561939-2811441107-1002). This has been concerning me because I’ve noticed that any file with this in security can’t be removed by anything but the Recycle Bin, which I find interesting, I usually use a file shredder for any file I want to delete, but I can’t. So my question is how do I delete this user name… with no name?

Can Delete ROB Davies User?

Mar 23, 2008

Due to HDD failure. THEY rebuilt it under the name of RoB Davies, NOT even my name of RoD Davies, and in any event it should have been under my wife's name. So I am apparently the defualt user. I created an Admin user under wife's name of Lenore, added a Folder under her name in the Users Folder, but can I delete the ROB Davies User?

There are the folders under RoB Davies of Contacts, Music, Pictures, Downoads, Videos, Searches etc. Even though I copied all these folders to my Wifes User Folder, and despite there being nothiing in any of these folders as its a brand new built PC, RoB Davies User folders are over 1GB in size, and my wifes about 20KB in total, so there are hidden system files in my incorrectly 'built' user folder...right? But Can I delete the Rob Davies folder?

Cannot Delete User Account

Jan 13, 2008

I am listed as the Administrator on my laptop. After my Dad gave me this PC after having it and registering in his name, I renamed the Administrator from his name to mine. When I go under User Accounts, I am the only user listed. However, when I boot my computer, my Dad's log in information is listed first and it starts up automatically saying "Username or password is invalid" and then I have the click "Switch User" to log in under myself. I have tried to delete User Account in Safe Mode, but that did not work either. How can I delete this account so I may start up my computer with just my login information??

FTP: Access To To Move Files Back

Jan 7, 2010

I've had for the last 2-3 days: There's an FTP that I need access to to move files back and forth between co-workers. I use Windows Explorer to access this, normally with no issues.....just type in the ftp address, and there it is. Now whenever I do this, I get an error: This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel.

I went into the Set Associations control panel, but don't know what extension to change, as it's not really a "file", and there's no mention anywhere of FTP. Everyone else that uses the FTP doesn't have an issue, so it's not a problem with the ftp itself.

New User, Setting Up, Couldn't Access

Feb 8, 2009

I posted before but couldn't get a resolution to my situation. I'm setting up a new user for me on my girl friends laptop. She is on as the Administrator, I created a 'new User' for myself but software such as Blackbery desktop, Google Chrome and the dial-up for my Blackberry don't seem to be accesable, at least not readily> I did go to the Google chrome folder and made it "sharable" with my user account but after going to my account, still couldn't access it unless it went through permission by administrator. I'm confused as I assumed that if any new user accounts were set up that all software that was down loaded and install while in the Administrators user account (my girl friend) that they would be easily accessable in any new user accounts that we set up, right? wrong?
