I have two PCI wireless network cards from two different brands, Netgear WG311V2 and D-Link DWl-G520+. My Vista Ultimate 32-bit SP2 system has 4GB of RAM. Neither will detect wireless networks when the system RAM is greater than 2GB. If I pull out one 2GB stick, it works fine. Put it back in, failure to see networks. I tried the Netgear on a Windows 2003 Standard 32 bit SP2 with 4GB of RAM and it worked ok.

I have yet another problem with my lame vista laptop and this time, it's the net yet again! I can't seem to find any wireless networks nor can I find mine. I've tried to do some of the things people suggested with previous posts like mine but, I it doesn't seem to work. Wireless Network Connection is disabled, I try to enable it and it doesn't work p.s. I can access the internet when I connect the DSL modem directly to my laptop.

And Just On Thursday My Norton 60 Trial Ran Out, So Of Course I Deleted It From My Control Panel. And After That, Is When I Started Getting This Problem. I Have Looked Around The Web And Tried A Dozen Different Solutions That Do Not Work For Me. And It Has Been Pissing Me Off So Much To the Point Where I'm About To Format The Hard Drive. View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm running Vista Ultimate x64 on an HP Pavilion dv6676us laptop with built-in Wi-Fi. My network is running on a 2Wire 2700HG-D router/modem. Last night, when I rebooted after a Windows update, I had no network. If I open the Network window, it says, "This computer is not connected to a network. Click to connect...". When I click there, then choose "Connect to a network", a window pops up saying, "Windows cannot find any networks". If I click on "View network computers and devices", it just takes me back to the Network window.
In Control Panel, Network and Sharing Center says, "The page failed to load". Windows Help tells me to make sure my network adapter is enabled in Control Panel --> Network Connections. In Network Connections, I see nothing that refers to a network adapter; I assume this is what displays as Wireless Network Connection, which says "Not connected". The context menu gives me choices of Disable and Connect/Disconnect. Selecting Connect/Disconnect doesn't help. Disabling, Enabling, and Connecting tells me again, "Windows cannot find any networks"..........
I'm having a problem with my laptop, Dell Inpirion 1420. Before, as always, when I turn my laptop on it automatic links up to a wireless connection that I applied to previously. But now, my laptop is not able to find any wireless connection from any router near by; at all. This never happened before. I search Dell Support forum and was unable to find the answer. I checked. The wireless card is properly installed. I do not know what to do. My laptop simply "cannot find networks."

View 9 Replies View RelatedI had gotten my new graphics card in the mail today and I was eager to install my new GTX 260 into my computer It is a very big card indeed well I got everything in order and I did not even go near my CD drive at all, But when I was finished I went to plug it back in it started up everything was fine, Now the automatic updates kicked in and I restarted my pc then I had my installation disk in the cd drive and nothing happened so I took it out and put in another disk and it was flashing green but then it stopped nothing is happening I went to my computer and it is not displayed there anymore, My friend said it had to do with some Bios default lockout for how many devices can be installed
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have an HP Pavillion computer running Vista Home Basic 64bit and I just now swapped graphics cards with my dad, this graphics card is running through a PCI express slot I believe. And I boot my computer with it in and it defaults to the onboard graphics. And when I go to device manager it just says "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" under "Display Adapters" and my moniter is plugged into the graphics card. Not the onboard one. And it confuses me because I'm getting picture form the PCI graphics card but when I try to play World of Warcraft it says it can't find a suitable graphics card. And that makes me know that it's running with onboard because this card has played WoW before. Anyway I guess I just need to install drivers for it but.. I honestly don't know what kind of graphics card it is. I know it's an Nvidia GeForce. I think it's an 8500 but I'm not sure. I don't want to have to pay for a driver search tool like Driver Detective.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy daughter bought a computer several years ago made by HP that runs Vista Home edition 32 bit we upgraded the video card and power supply when she bought it. Went with NVidia GeForce 3500 at the time pretty decent card we thought. Well now shes had some issues that forced her to restore the system and we couldnt find the install info for the card. Went to NVidia's website and downloaded drivers now the computer wont boot up. We keep getting a blue screen that says windows encountered a problem. I cant remember if the system came with a card that wasnt cutting it or if there was integrated graphics on the motherboard. So when we experienced the problem booting after installing drivers for the card I went into setup and changed the video to onboard graphics now we get nothing at bootup and monitor keeps going to sleep.

The card that comes with the computer doesn't have enough Horse power. I need a card that would be like a ge Force3 Radeon 8500 or better. The problem is getting a card that will fit in the case and slot. I'm told its a half card or slim profile. What will work? I would rather not spend more than $75. Is this doeable for something realiable. The Flight Sim without loading the Acceleration software that provides carrier ops, pylon racing etc. As I am a retired Marine Corps attack/fighter pilot it would be nice to try these.

The problem I have now is that I had to reload and start over because of numerous infections (trojans, & viruses & malware etc.). I have a Netgear router with setup information that was previously installed. I went into Control Panel / Network connections And tried to activate wireless network connect 3 and it said acquiring network address Intel(R) Pro/wireless 3945ABG Network Connection. I chose /clicked on the network I had previously installed and clicked on Connect.
The wireless network connection box came up and asked me for the network key. It already had a blanked out key in the 2 boxes so I clicked on connect and it scanned and said acquiring network address. The problem is that it never acquires the address and puts a red X on the icon by the clock.
A laptop running Vista is having the following problems:
1. Can't connect to WiFi
2. Can't launch system restore
3. Can't launch WIndows help
4. Can't launch Event Viewer
The last time it was working fine, a Windows update was installed and the system was shut down probably. The next time it was rebooted, the problems above occurred.
This is not causing any problems, I just don't know why. I have an i7 on a Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5, gigabit Linksys switch, Norton 2008 firewall, Vista 32bit, and 3 PCs (Vista, Vista, XP) in a LAN. Vista doesn't seem to think a LAN/switch is a real network? I can see all of the other network PCs, connect to the internet (DSL) thru a switch connected Linksys wireless router, share files, and printers; but it's bugging me.

During my initial stay at the hotels, I used the hotel wireless connection and Vista connected to the Internet fine. Now I live in an apartment and got the DSL service from T-Mobile (Deutsche Telekom) and here is the problem. The DSL phone works fine. My Vista will not connect to the DSL router (Speedport 303V).
1.Every attempt to use the browser (Firefox or IE) to connect to the router?s IP address returns the following error message: Connection Interrupted The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading. The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.
2.None of the external web sites can be accessed
3.The network configuration information from the Control Panel says I am connected to the Internet and the only application working is Skype.
4.My wife has an Apple laptop. She could connect to the router and the Internet from the beginning of this DSL setup.
One thing I did change in the Wireless card settings was the DNS servers. Soon after I added DNS servers from OpenDNS, and I have access to the Internet. I am still not able to connect to my DSL router. I disabled IPV6 for the interfaces and tried to use wired and WiFi access to the router and Vista will not access the router. Every other place I have used WiFi connection, DSL or Cable broadband, I
had no problem. This is the first time I am experiencing this.
I am using a windows Vista 32 bit home premium notebook computer for which the wireless network detection has stopped working. I updated the driver for the built in wireless card with out any results. I also tried a plug in wireless card which windows detected and said was working properly and this did not work either. This leaves me to believe that something is wrong with the OS.
I can get on the internet via dialup modem and also by the ethernet connection with a DSL modem. I have been to several hotspots that I know have wifi and no networks show up. When I click on the "Connect to" in the start menu, nothing happens. When I click on "connect to a network" in control panel, I get an error loading wizards message saying module not found. The card is an Inrel pro wireless 3945ABG and IS turned on. All critical windows updates have been installed.
I got a HP dv6000 and I am having a problemo! Its a newish computer. I bought it nearly new off ebay, and I put vista on it. Vista works and all but it only recognizes the dial up port. The computer has wifi and an ethernet port but it will not detect any network.

Hardware - tried D-Link DWL-G510 and Edimax 7128 adapters with newest Vista drivers I have 2 wifi networks broadcasted by Linksys WRT54G and Airlive WP-5460AP (latest firmware) - different channels set, both with WPA TKIP. Vista connects from time to time to Linksys but either only locally with no internet acces or with very poor internet transmission and then dropping connection. Connection to Airlive is rejected as wrong passphrase (although its correct). With no encryption only local connection to Airlive is possible. XP computers work with no problems with both devices.

I then went to my network list and noticed that the network had been removed unknowingly, after noticing this, I then tried adding the network manually and guess what, it showed me access denied. View 8 Replies View RelatedRunning Vista Enterprise x86 SP1 with all updates applied as per Windows Update. Machine is a HP 6910p with Intel Wifi Link 4965AGN. All power saving disabled where possible; power management running max performance. Router is Linksys WRT54GS v2 with latest firmware from Linksys installed. SSID broadcast disabled. Connecting using WPA-2 personal, AES encryption. Have a few other notebooks (Tosh, HP, Dell) and all work without problems but they are all running XP. This current problematic notebook runs fine if I boot to XP.
Problem: with no discernable pattern, the Wifi connection would be lost and cannot reconnect even though the network is visible (shows up as unnamed). Tried IPConfig renew, right-click diagnose & repair, disable/reenable (from network setting and soft-button on notebook) and reboot. Nothing helps.
Simple solution: click on the network and provide the correct SSID and Passphrase, all is well again. Of course, each time I do this, it's a new Wifi network registration so I end up with 6-10 every week that I need to clean up (mywifinet, mywifinet 2, mywifinet 2 3, mywifinet 2 3 5, etc...). They're all connected to the same thing but everytime it dies, the same setting will not reconnect and I have to register all over again. Registration is standard and set to remember and auto connect. This isn't my only problem with Vista but it is the most annoying. Why, why, why does Vista hate me?
i have this HP compaq presario CQ60 and any time i try to download anything over a few KB, the download fails. This happens during all updates, winupdates,antivirus updates, network file transfers ect.. Basically any downloads. I have no problem when using a LAN connection its only wifi when i have the problem. I have attemted forum searches on microsofts website to no avail , google, bing ect have nothing even close to the results im looking for, all my drivers are up to date.

I have a Vista laptop which connects via wifi to my home network router and I can access all the PCs and Printers and internet no problem. I now have to do some work away from home and will purchase a USB Broadband modem which will give me mobile internet/email, but I will still want to move files and print when at home.
If I have my USB Modem and my Wifi enabled at the same time, can I access the Internet via the USB Modem, while accessing the PCs and Printers at home? How would my laptop know to access the Internet via the dongle modem and not through the router and modem on the home network?
I'm wondering if it's possible to set up my computer (it has two ethernet connectors) to connect to 2 different networks at the same time? (this would be both "wired" networks, but if wireless is easier I have wireless USB adapters I can utilize as both of my network routers are wired & wireless).
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've encountered an issue with my networking where my 1Gbps LAN has it's speed capped at 54Mbps. I'm using a laptop with a 1Gbps NIC and 54Mbps WIFI adapter. The WIFI is connected to an wireless access point (network 1). The 1Gbps NIC is connected to another network. Both networks are private. The networks are not connected. While transferring between my laptop and a Windows XP box that is only on the 1Gbps network I've noticed the speed stays at a constant 54Mbps during the entire transfer. I'm wondering why the speed of an 1Gbps network is being capped at 54Mbps.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem with the finding wireless networks, The problem started that sometimes I was not able to view wireless networks even though the wireless is turned on and sometimes I am not able to see certain networks, however I was able to view the networks sometimes on restarting or at a later time. The problem is that now while I am connected to a wireless network, sometimes it just disconnects and "Connect to a network " views that it can't find any wireless networks (even though my colleague next to me can see them and is still connected) and if i try to troubleshoot it tells me that my wireless device is switched off even though it is still on and if i actually switch it off it is not recognized to be switched off (the color indicator for off and on doesn't change ) The only way that I can connect again is to restart (and sometimes I have to do it more than once before I can see wireless networks again) I am not sure if it is a Vista problem or a hardware problem ...I have a HP Pavilion dv6000
