Something is wrong with my graphic card and i cannot find what is it. When i try to play a game i get a blue screen of death. I upload the minidump files with the hope someone will find the solution.

What i did find was other people similar to my laptop has a graphic card. I opened my laptop until i could see where i can put my graphic card. I found no Graphic card. I never saw the whole inside of my laptop because if i went in more i might of broke something because i got stuck at a point where i couldn't pull the hand rest off. I bought a GeForce GTX260 and so far it's amazing. But I've been told that the resolution on the computer is based on the graphics card. The highest mine goes to is 1440x900. I've seen some go 1900xsome number. Is it possible to get my resolution higher or does my graphics card not allow that?

Obviously I would like to buy the the best one I can, but I would like to ensure that for the future it could erhaps play a few better games as well as Sims2. I can imagine she will be using the laptop for her school work as well over the next few years. Any advice on which one to buy. I don't know much about PC'S but I was told that different graphic cards can make a bit of difference.

View 9 Replies View RelatedDo you know how to install a Graphic card EVGA NVIDIA GEFORCE 8400 in a PC running Vista 32x? So far I've spent two weeks looking a solution but it seems almost imposible. When I try to install the card always get an ansewr saying that system could not find any driver for this hardware. This is what I have done:
1. clear MOS and update it
2. try almost every driver from mobo manufacturer (Biostar pm4900), form NVIDIA, from EVGA.
3. set PCI priority in Bios
4. unistall VGA drivers for the Moboard.
I purchased a new CPU, RAM, mainboard and graphic card. It's the NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT, 512 MB, 256 Bit for about 100€ (~127 USD). Now that's already a nice card, but for 125€ (~158 USD) I could buy the same card with 1024 MB. That's easily 100% more for only +25% of the original price. Now my question is, using a dual monitor setup with the maximum resolution of 1440x900, would that be worth the money? I heard once or twice that video card memory is mostly related with the resolution.

My computer freeze for 2-5 second, next is black screen for 2seconds(as monitor is shuted down) and next is black screen while i don't stop the game. View 9 Replies View RelatedI have two PCI wireless network cards from two different brands, Netgear WG311V2 and D-Link DWl-G520+. My Vista Ultimate 32-bit SP2 system has 4GB of RAM. Neither will detect wireless networks when the system RAM is greater than 2GB. If I pull out one 2GB stick, it works fine. Put it back in, failure to see networks. I tried the Netgear on a Windows 2003 Standard 32 bit SP2 with 4GB of RAM and it worked ok.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI had gotten my new graphics card in the mail today and I was eager to install my new GTX 260 into my computer It is a very big card indeed well I got everything in order and I did not even go near my CD drive at all, But when I was finished I went to plug it back in it started up everything was fine, Now the automatic updates kicked in and I restarted my pc then I had my installation disk in the cd drive and nothing happened so I took it out and put in another disk and it was flashing green but then it stopped nothing is happening I went to my computer and it is not displayed there anymore, My friend said it had to do with some Bios default lockout for how many devices can be installed
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have an HP Pavillion computer running Vista Home Basic 64bit and I just now swapped graphics cards with my dad, this graphics card is running through a PCI express slot I believe. And I boot my computer with it in and it defaults to the onboard graphics. And when I go to device manager it just says "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" under "Display Adapters" and my moniter is plugged into the graphics card. Not the onboard one. And it confuses me because I'm getting picture form the PCI graphics card but when I try to play World of Warcraft it says it can't find a suitable graphics card. And that makes me know that it's running with onboard because this card has played WoW before. Anyway I guess I just need to install drivers for it but.. I honestly don't know what kind of graphics card it is. I know it's an Nvidia GeForce. I think it's an 8500 but I'm not sure. I don't want to have to pay for a driver search tool like Driver Detective.

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy daughter bought a computer several years ago made by HP that runs Vista Home edition 32 bit we upgraded the video card and power supply when she bought it. Went with NVidia GeForce 3500 at the time pretty decent card we thought. Well now shes had some issues that forced her to restore the system and we couldnt find the install info for the card. Went to NVidia's website and downloaded drivers now the computer wont boot up. We keep getting a blue screen that says windows encountered a problem. I cant remember if the system came with a card that wasnt cutting it or if there was integrated graphics on the motherboard. So when we experienced the problem booting after installing drivers for the card I went into setup and changed the video to onboard graphics now we get nothing at bootup and monitor keeps going to sleep.

The card that comes with the computer doesn't have enough Horse power. I need a card that would be like a ge Force3 Radeon 8500 or better. The problem is getting a card that will fit in the case and slot. I'm told its a half card or slim profile. What will work? I would rather not spend more than $75. Is this doeable for something realiable. The Flight Sim without loading the Acceleration software that provides carrier ops, pylon racing etc. As I am a retired Marine Corps attack/fighter pilot it would be nice to try these.

I turned the resolution to the highest and made sure the colours option was at 32bit. This helped and shrunk the screen a bit but now it is still a little bit stretched and the image is not as sharp as it used to be. How can i get it back to its origional format?

I have to turn it off ,take off the SLI connector and restart it this happening for about 6 months now.Of course I join the "SLI NVidia Forums Zone" straight away and I am still waiting for an answer.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAt first I had no problems for the last 4 months when I hooked up my new TV to my laptop. I didn't even change any graphic sttings. It worked great right out of the box. I am using a standard VGA-VGA cable. Last week I hooked up my laptop to an old CRT display to do our taxes. I had to play with the graphic settiings for the CRT monitor to look OK.
Now, when I hook up the TV to the laptop, it only has the middle part of the screen showing the desktop. I have played with the Graphic settings, but no matter what I do, I cannot get it to look like it did before with the wide screen.
My friend is having a computer issue and I am her computer techie friend trying to help her fix it. I'm in a different city than she is, so sadly I can't see what the problem is, but I am computer savvy enough to know how to gain information from her. The problem: She said that the other day she clicked on a pop up (sounds like a vista-related pop up) that said something about a Hard Drive or Hardware…she wasn't 100% sure. She clicked 'continue' on the pop up and ever since those settings (for whatever it was) went into place, her visual graphic settings have been messed up.
It seems like her wallpaper is streched and larger than before (dosen't all fit on the screen) and her text and such when she surfs the net is larger than normal. She defined it as being "big and strechy". She is using an HP laptop on Vista. We tried messing with Display and Wallpaper settings -- tried all the different options (resolution, etc) and had no luck. Furthermore, we tried a restore….but the restore was unsuccessful. On what is likley an unrelated note (but I'll throw it in anyways), her HP Recovery drive is getting pretty full. She thinks it has something to do with it since it hasn't been like that, but I don't think it relates to the graphics problem. why her desktop background wallpaper is big and strechy and why her text when surfing the internet is so large?
