I got halo on my laptop and said my graphic card is below than expected when my laptop i got it this year it a R61 lenovo with Vista Buisness on it, why it say my graphic card is below expected?

What i did find was other people similar to my laptop has a graphic card. I opened my laptop until i could see where i can put my graphic card. I found no Graphic card. I never saw the whole inside of my laptop because if i went in more i might of broke something because i got stuck at a point where i couldn't pull the hand rest off. I bought a GeForce GTX260 and so far it's amazing. But I've been told that the resolution on the computer is based on the graphics card. The highest mine goes to is 1440x900. I've seen some go 1900xsome number. Is it possible to get my resolution higher or does my graphics card not allow that?

Obviously I would like to buy the the best one I can, but I would like to ensure that for the future it could erhaps play a few better games as well as Sims2. I can imagine she will be using the laptop for her school work as well over the next few years. Any advice on which one to buy. I don't know much about PC'S but I was told that different graphic cards can make a bit of difference.

View 9 Replies View RelatedDo you know how to install a Graphic card EVGA NVIDIA GEFORCE 8400 in a PC running Vista 32x? So far I've spent two weeks looking a solution but it seems almost imposible. When I try to install the card always get an ansewr saying that system could not find any driver for this hardware. This is what I have done:
1. clear MOS and update it
2. try almost every driver from mobo manufacturer (Biostar pm4900), form NVIDIA, from EVGA.
3. set PCI priority in Bios
4. unistall VGA drivers for the Moboard.
I purchased a new CPU, RAM, mainboard and graphic card. It's the NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT, 512 MB, 256 Bit for about 100€ (~127 USD). Now that's already a nice card, but for 125€ (~158 USD) I could buy the same card with 1024 MB. That's easily 100% more for only +25% of the original price. Now my question is, using a dual monitor setup with the maximum resolution of 1440x900, would that be worth the money? I heard once or twice that video card memory is mostly related with the resolution.

My computer freeze for 2-5 second, next is black screen for 2seconds(as monitor is shuted down) and next is black screen while i don't stop the game. View 9 Replies View RelatedDid something happen with the WMP 11? I was looking at some MP3s on Amazon today. Downloaded 1 and it would not play on the WMP. I keep getting a message about dll has a version ( bunch of numbers) were more( numbers) was expected. WMP is not installed correctly and must be re installed. do you want to install player from MS site.
I tried several times and it just bounces me from one place to another on their site. I tried to delete WMP from PC thinking I could re load it, and in the control panel for doing so it's as if it does not even exist. Is it hidden somewhere? I finally tried loading a Real player and it works fine. Just wonder what the hell has happened to the WMP. Vista Home Premium with all the up dates if it matters.
Overall, I have to say the move to Vista was not at all what I had expected. So far I am very happy with this version of Windows (nice to move away from XP after 6 years). Is there any hope for Vista to ever overcome it's generally poor reputation?

I recently got Halo 2,and before I had I had ran a test and it said I met the minimum requirements. When I tried to install it however, it would change my resolution to 800 x 600, the display the message-(Initialization failed.Either insufficient system resources were found to run the game or game data is missing or damaged.Reinstalling the game may fix this problem. When I also try to customize game install,it tells me-Installation cannot be customized after game installation is initialized. I looked at some other threads and tried to update my graphics driver,but it said I had a custom driver installed and trying to install another driver may damage it.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have installed halo 2 without any problems. The game runs flawlessly up until the point after i beat the scarab. I'm able to watch the story line of the arbitar and thats when it goes to pot. The screen goes black and the computer becomes completely unresponsive except for holding the power button down to restart the computer. This problem does not occur anywhere else during the game. I have updated all drivers and tried to uninstall and re-intall.

View 4 Replies View RelatedIm a First timer for PC games and Exspeically Halo for PC, but anyways i got this game when i bought my PC from www.cyberpower.com (good PCS) but the game i got with it is a bit confuseing because it tells me to sign in to windows live (first time encountering this site) i know its used for Xbox Live but i do not own one, but i made an account and the game loaded up and :::....
(steps on what it did and i did)
Step1: I Clicked the "live" option
Effect: it told me to choose your Profile, so i did
Step 2: I finally got through all the "join live" registration but yet it keeps asking me NOTE (im online during all this).
Effect: i waited for the windows live registration to pop up and then soon after i pulled the halo game screen back up and it went to full screen it said "sign in to LIVE" so i did and submitted, soon after it said "downloading profile (this could take a few minutes) and, it finally did it and it ASKED ME TO UPDATE HALO 2 or else it will sign me out and as i did it simply told me it was unable to update and told me to check my connection.
I upgraded (a so-called "clean install" on same partition... it made xp pro x64 unusable by renaming various system folders) to windows vista home basic hoping that PAE would work. I had assumed that 4GB RAM would be no problem (the intel e6600 core2duo in this system supports 64bit instructions, and as a result PAE works on linux just fine) though it is not doing what I expected.
After installing Vista SP1 (came out recently) from windows update, I decided to try using BCDEDIT.EXE and set PAE to "force enable" mode... Not working as expected!!! Well, pressing [windows logo key on keyboard] and [break] at the same
time (you can also bring that up by right clicking what XP called "my computer" and selecting "properties") ... windows now reports: Memory (RAM) 4.0 GB ... it was too good to be true: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/283296

would you mind helping me with this minor issue I've been having while playing halo, its been doing it since I've installed it, if you can't help, that's understandable to. Whenever I minimize my game of halo, I can't bring it back up for some reason. It'll show in the upper left hand corner Halo, but it wont come up, I wait forever, and it never comes up, so I end up, closing it out, and ending the game. At first I tried to get used to it, but sometimes my screen will minimize because of updates, and other stuff, and its really annoying because I can't bring back up my game of halo. I tried reinstalling it, but it would still do the same thing, if you can figure out something to fix this,
View 4 Replies View RelatedProblem is network bandwidth as measured by the speed test(s) will decrease over time without any changes being made -- it does not matter what time of day either. It is a Vista PC running SP2 and hard wired to a Linksys router (Wireless-G model) and I am a Comcast customer with 30mbps service. Maybe I should mention this PC sits idle for most of the day before the family comes home from school. All of the XP systems in the house do NOT have this problem.
As you can see over the course of 5 days the download speed drops into the 2-3 mbps range (and the upload speeds are greater than the download speeds !! ) The 12mbps measurement was taken after the reboot. The only fix I have found is rebooting the machine --- then performance is as expected for a day or so before it starts to drop again.
