WMP11 Cursor Blinks Rapidly

When I have Windows Media Player v.11 open, my cursor blinks rapidly back and forth between arrow pointer and the rotating circle "Vista Hourglass"- needless to say this is VERY irritating. It is very distrating to use a cursor that is very rapidly "stuttering" or "flashing" back and forth between the rotating circle "Vista Hourglass" and the arrow. It does stop when I close Windows Media Player. But I should be able to have Windows Media Player open and idle without having this annoying super-fast blinking cursor-rotating circle "Vista Hourglass" things

I've recently purchased a Toshiba P200D-139, which came with Vista pre-installed. The HDD has come partitioned in C (Vista) and E (Data). TBH, I want just 1 drive. I???ve used the disk management function in Vista, and I???ve even done it manually in the cmd prompt, however I cannot extend the C drive at all. I can erase E, I can split it, I can create new drives, extend them, shrink them or whatever, either through the disk management function, or through diskpart.exe in the cmd prompt. I can do anything and everything to the E drive.
However the extend options for the C drive are greyed out. In the cmd prompt if you try to extend the C drive it says there???s insufficient space, yet if you try with the E drive it works fine. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm rapidly running out of room on the C drive, and don't see the point of splitting the same type of data across 2 partitions, espeically when a lot of it is shared/public.

My dvd drive is no longer listed in start menu computer browser. I tried microsoft fixit to no avail. also tried to run sfc/scannow from elevated comand prompt and that will not run even in safe mode. what do I try next. I just got my pc back to normal from a vista reinstall so I would like to avoid that if possible.

The coordinate of the cursor in my Vista is not at the tip of the arrow, instead it is at the tail of the arrow. When I click a file name, the file underneath would be opened; if move the cursor to the edge of IE, the double head arrow will apear at the bottom-left of the edge.

so at our place we use Comcast Internet, and we have a Belkin router and i have no idea what kind of modem box. But periodically the Modem icon blinks red on our Belkin router. We aren't sure if this is a problem with the Router or the Modem box itself. Any idea's?

When I try to use WMP11 I get the "...has stopped working" and then Windows shuts it down. I'm using Vista Ultimate. I'd really like to get this working instead of an alternative program like I did with IE7 and Windows Mail.

My media player 11 kept freezing when i'd try to rip more than 1 cd all of a sudden. I'd reboot then it would be fine again for only 1 cd. So i started reading forums on how to uninstall and reinstall media player. One said i had to delete the entire key from the registry then when i rebooted it would ask me to reinstall. It didn't happen. Now WMP opens and will play music but when i try to rip a cd it says it cannot do it and offers no reason. I'm running 32bit vista ultimate. I've tried the cumulative update for WMP but it says i have a newer version of it installed so it can't continue. Also i wasn't provided with a copy of vista with the computer so i cant reinstall that either can i?

For some reason and I have looked at everything I can think of, WMP11 will not let me any longer rate my music. Am I being completely stupid or is there some silly piece of malicious software that has got on my PC? I keep my security and firewalls up to date on a daily basis.

Vista Ultimate SP1. Since installing SP1 a week ago I can no longer use the WMP player of many internet radio stations. The different players open OK, play the regulatory sponsor introductory message but as soon as they get into connecting and streaming they shut down with a message that IE7 has stopped working. By itself WMP plays OK all VDO and Audio files on my PC. I was checking your answer to another WMP11 problem (see below) but hesitated to type the two lines in "run" since it says that Vista requires a higher level (?). I looked at the web site given by the link but don't quite understand what is meant by a "higher level".
Can I type these two lines in my Vista "run" (and hope it fixes the problem) or not? Or do you have another possible solution for my problem? I posted my problem on the media player support group but no answer so far.

I'm running Vista Ultimate x64 and noticed a problem recently when playing music via windows media center. However, having played around in WMP11 also, WMP is doing the same thing so I believe the problem is somewhere in there. Initially the problem started when trying to play a collection of mp3 files off my local drive. Whether it be via an existing playlist or simply by selecting an album within WMC. The problem is that a track plays and then WMC/WMP freezes on the next track. If I skip to the next track that plays, but then the next track freezes. Sometimes the 1st track on the list doesn't play but the next will. Sometimes the 1st plays and then the next won't!
So, I closed WMC and opened up WMP directly. (This happens in both x86 and x64 versions of WMP by the way). If I create a playlist, the same thing happens a track plays, then freezes, if I skip on, the next track plays and then the next one freezes.....

Have Vista HP on a Dell 1525. When I play a WMA file, adjusting any of the video settings slider controls has no affect on the quality of the video playing, not even if I adjust the settings before clicking 'Play'. When I play mpg files, however, adjusting the settings DOES result in the video quality being changed corresponding to the whichever setting is changed. What I can I do to solve this problem when playing WMA files? Is there some setting I need to amend or do I need to download a file/codec?

I have done everything possible under my control...Set WMP11 as my default player..uninstalled programs that i thought might be interfering with WMP11 and uninstalled and reinstalled my anti virus/firewall. I cannot uninstall WMP11 off my comp because im on Vista (32bit) and i really dont wanna system restore.

I have a bunch of loose mp3s (i.e. not the entire albums, just a few tracks from particular albums) grouped into folders based on genre. They have blank album tags. How can I prevent WMP11 from assigning album tags to these mp3 and downloading album art. I have every possible check box involved in media updating unchecked. Among my 20 or so genre folders, WMP only seems to modify the files in a few of the folders. The artist and title tags are correct so it looks like WMP is trying to add missing information. Is there a registry hack that essentially turns off the ability of WMP to do any file modification? I've tried deleting the database and rescanning the library. My only option right now is to simply not start WMP.

I can not longer share files ie video, music, pics, with any other pc in my house including my ps3. This just started 2 days ago. Everytime I started WMP11 I get the file sharing box telling me to check my sharing settings; I check them and and everything seems fine. I also have turned off both of my firewalls from Live Onecare and windows firewall. I currently am running Vista Ultimate 32bit with intel Q6600(quad core 2.40) 2gb ram, geforce 8600gts 512mb. I also recently cleaned up my desktop and don't know if I got rid of something I shouldn't have. WMP11 works fine. I also get this every 3 minutes or so popping up. Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service has stopped working

I have a problem that I can't figure out how to fix. I have this new Acer
laptop with Vista. When I try to type the cursor just suddenly places
itself in the middle of a previous line. For instance I will be typing and
all of a sudden the middle of "sudden" will insert itself 2 lines up. I
tried updating the touchpad driver but it still does it. Any hints? I have
heard of another person who has the same problem and never found out what
causes it.

I just installed the latest drivers for the graphics card in my laptop, and when I restarted my computer, my cursor became invisible. I can move the mouse and still hover over links and click on things, the only thing is that I can't see the cursor. The cursor moves when I move the mouse, but I can't see it moving...its invisible somehow. Everything worked fine up until I installed the new graphics drivers.

I just bought a new dell XPS with Vista and I am having problems with my mouse. For example, in MS Paint when drawing lines the "precision" cursor is used which looks like cross hairs. Instead of lines starting from the center of the cross hairs it starts above and to the left (which is coincidentally where the point of an arrow cursor would be). I have similar issues in adobe elemens where precision is needed.

When starting up there's just a blank black screen with a blinking cursor on the top left of screen.
I waited for hours and still won't boot.
I tried fixmbr, rebuildbcd from Vista DVD and it didn't help.
Any help? I'm tired of reinstalling Vista again and again.

I am having some problems with my mouse cursor, at first I thought it was my logitech wireless mouse and I got a different wireless microsoft mouse, and still have the problem. When I go to click on something, sometimes I have to click above it because it seems as if the mouse is not actually clicking where the cursor is.

In another thread there was a discussion about spyware. I followed some of the advice given and now all of a sudden, the cursor movement is sluggish. Also, when I boot up, my password is sometimes rejected two or three times even though I am being careful in typing. Sometimes I have to click on a link three or four times before it works. My machine is a Packard Bell desktop with 32-bit OS Vista plus SP1.

Just been forcibly upgraded at work from win95 to vista. I'm partially sighted, and one of the things I *still* can't suss out is being able to turn on a "sonar" feature where you press the control key and get a series of concentric circles explaining where you lost the mouse cursor. if the mouse cursor is a rather indistinct blob amid more indistinct blobs it does actually help if the one you're looking for is the one that wriggles when you tell it to!

On any application, when I save for the first time, or save as, the window opens to select where to save (documents, usually) but the cursor becomes a little white circle and if I click in the window, it says not responding at the top. The only recourse it to stop it either from task manager or repeatedly clicking the close icon. Vista 64 Home Premium SP1 Intel Core duo E750, Nvidia Geforce 8800 4 gig ram.

My cursor (not the mouse cursor) won't stay in one place. It jumps from field to field in just about every program I use, going from left to right, just like I'm pushing down the tab button on the keyboard. I'm on a desktop and not a laptop. It makes it very hard to type or to chose options in pop up windows. It makes the scroll bars move all by themselves too. I tried updating my keyboard driver without any improvement.

I have an Acer laptop with Windows Vista Home Edition. Ever since I purchased it I've had a problem with the cursor jumping from one point on the screen to another. I place the cursor on a button or thread I want to open but the cursor jumps to another part of the screen. Also, it locks up some times when I am trying to scroll and the scroll bar takes off like a rocket. Other times I'll be dragging the scroll bar and it will snap back to it's original position.

Sometimes when i watch a movie in ect wmp or streams something on the net, then my mouse cursor often goes ape :s It turns in to a thin line or either it shows up like it has been in a blender because its messed up. Normaly it fixes with a reboot or if i am lucky then i can try click around a bit or open and close folders, then it turns normal again. I have a radeon 4800 1 gb ddram and i have tryed with uniblue, ccleaner, Seach and destroy. scandisk, defrag and clear temp folders. I tryed to update every single program and drivers, but i have a clue that it could be related to codex packs.. I use K-Lite newest. I tryed to remove and install K lite over and over, but this problems is still driving me nutz.
