I downloaded the newest WLM beta (build 14.0.8050.1202) and whenever I click on the Mail notification instead of taking me to the usual login page i end up at NineMSN Hotmail. They are technically the same site as after you login you end up in the same place but i prefer the look of the proper Hotmail (or Windows Live) login page.
I was trying to fix my computer. I have an acer laptop and when i was starting it before it would say there was an error starting up. It would then go into trying to repair the problem and there is always an error with the fix so it ends and shuts down. It will start in regular mode it just wil never get to the user selection screen. I also tried safe mode. i held f8 in the bedinning to open up the options and all three safe mode options were working. When i was in safe mode a pop up told me the system needed to restart and when it did it went back to the normal veiw out of safe mode but when i shut it down to try again it didnt work in regular mode only in safe mode again. Now it wont even work in safe mode. I try to enter safe mode and the list of commands starts running down the screen. It stops and then goes into the repair function again which will not work,. I am not able to get past and i would like to know what i should do or whetherthe hard drive is dead. In safe made there were also errors with microsoft programs opening and they would not open. I scanned the computer with avg but nothing came up.
Does anyone know how to configure Vista so that if a Remote Assistance session end ths client being remotely controlled screen locks? Secondly - do you know how to configure the remotely assisted Vista desktop to automatically allow the remote controller UAC control? (the remote controller user will be a member of the local admin group on the controlled PC.)
Hotmail recently announced that they are changing the protocol that will make it incompatible with Outlook Express. There is a new mail client called 'Windows Live Mail' that addresses this. I installed it on my XP Pro machine and it works pretty nicely. Will Windows Mail - standard with Vista support the new Hotmail format? Are any special setups required?
I just did a restore to factory settings. Before I was using MS Mail (Live) I believe. I had MSN & Vz both configured, along w/my Newsgroups. Now it seems like here in MS mail I can't set up my MSN.com Hotmail account. I get some sort of msg. saying the format is no longer supported. Can someone tell me what settings I need to put in? I tried MS Live and that seems to only take MS Hotmail. Outlook 2k7 is also balking at me. I'd like to get all mail in 1 place. Can someone tell me where to find the info. needed or point me in the rightdirection of setting up any 1 of these apps.
I have a hotmail account and its saying i need an email account but its not letting me use the hotmail. What do I do and where can I find the correct information?
The problem is wlm don't log in with the new passwords I get the Unable to send or receive messages for the Hotmail (account name) account. The sign-in name you entered doesn't exist, or your password is incorrect. Server Error: 0x80048821........
I have tried to do this in outlook and windows live mail.I must be missing something. Does this mean I can access hotmail from outlook or will hotmail allow me to access gmail, verizon, etc ??? Rollout for Hotmail POP3 worldwide support complete
I'm using Windows Vista Home, downloaded the new Windows Live Mail, cos i need to access my hotmail (Windows Mail does not support). However, i am only able to read the "header & sender" of each message. The content cannot be shown. Error message:WINDOWS LIVE MAIL encountered an unexpected problem while displaying this message. CHeck your computer for low memory or low disk space and try again.
I've been searching thru the net trying to find a solution to this for a few days already. Basically tried everything others suggested, but still no help. Some of the steps i tried:
1. Manually configure server settings for e-mail account. --> HTTP server 2. deleting everything in C:Documents and SettingsLiamLocal SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftWindows Live Mail 3.uninstall & reinstall Windows Live Mail 4.disable antivirus & firewall etc 5.sign in to hotmail (using www.hotmail.com) -some say this need to be done the 1st time 6. i tried so many things, i dont really remember However, there's no problem accessing gmail with Windows Live Mail.
E-mail messages has been sent out from my Hotmail account without me having to do with it. This is approx the 3rd or 4th time that it happened and I am getting concerned about the security of my account. I am so embarrassed to all my contacts because they are receiving e-mails which are actually not from me. They are usually messages with a link to a website selling electronic goods and what-have-you's!! It???s a hotmail.com account but which I usually access via the web or by something that looks like Outlook Express. I am worried that my hotmail account has been hacked! What should I do to stop this from happening again?
Seems like almost everything I do now in Hotmail in Firefox browser generates a NoScript HiJack attempt warning. Some mumbojumbo about redirecting stuff, even though I'm just going into a mail folder. Is it just me or is everybody seeing this crap?
I have IE8, Windows Vista and Windows Mail, which shows as my default mail and only email address.
I would like to have my Hotmail address as my default mail, but Windows Mail will not allow me to add Hotmail. Wizard error says it does not support HTTP and I cannot see anywhere under Hotmail options/more options where it allows me to change any type of connections to POP3.
I read it can be done in G-Mail, but unfortunately I have Hotmail.
Is downloading "Windows Live" and uninstalling my "Windows Mail" a solution?
I have all my mail forwarded to Hotmail, so I wouldn't lose saved messages.
There were plenty of reasons to avoid moving to Vista, but I've done so under duress: my laptop died and Vista is the only 64-bit system installed on PCs these days. Unfortunately, I CANNOT set the program called Windows Live Hotmail as my default mail program. Under the topic of Hotmail and Vista, the only postings on this are dated to 2007. Surely someone has configured a system with this revised version of Hotmail. It runs on this computer, but is not recognized as a setting for default.
I DO NOT want Windows Live Mail. I DO NOT want Outlook, I DO NOT want Microsoft Windows... Been there, done that. Does anyone have a work around, or must I strip Vista and load XP? So far I've wasted ten days trying to deal with Vista. This is about to push me over the edge and back to XP!
I cannot send mails via my hotmail e-mail address for approximately two months; when I try to send one I get a notification saying that I have to activate my hotmail account. When I click on the link to activate it and enter the confirmation code as required I get a page with a error code on it. How can I solve this issue if needed I can provide additional details.
Since activating Parental Controls using Vista 64-bit SP1, whenever I try to access my hotmail account using the web gui, I get the following error message: This webpage is not available. The webpage at Sign In might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. More information on this error Below is the original error message Error 320 (net::ERR_INVALID_RESPONSE): Unknown error.
I can access my HotMail messages by direct download into the Outlook application on my Vista PC, and also via web gui in XP. How can I figure out what setting I need to relax in Parental Controls, to allow me to access my mail? For me it is less urgent than for my son: he is also prevented from using the web gui, and doesn't have the luxury of an Outlook account.
I'm using Windows Vista Home, downloaded the new Windows Live Mail as wanted to use msn hotmail messenger which i used to use on this laptop before i had factory re set on it. However, although it has downloaded, it has not transferred any of my hotmail addresses across and when i have been on messenger i can only see sent and received messages no emoticoms or addreeses and who else is online on left hand side.
I can login to Hotmail via the web and Gmail and Charter accounts are working in LiveMail. No Hotmail though.Unable to send or receive messages for the Hotmail (fiatdood) account. Sorry, we were unable to sign you in to Windows Live ID at this time. Please try again later.

I have MSN as my home page but whenever I log out of my Hotmail account instead of taking me back to my MSN Home page I get Microsoft's BING Search Home Page. This just started a couple of days ago. Prior to yesterday my home page would reload after logging out of Hotmail. I have tried deleting all MSN and MSN Live cookies but nothing works. How do I get rid of MSN taking me to their BING Search Page without my consent after singing out of Hotmail.
When I open the hotmail.com page, I see in the live id field someoneelse's account adress. Instead I am supposed to see my own account adress, as a cookie should keep that. Now I dont know what is going on... I use vista ultimate with AVG. I leave my laptop open during the midnight for emule. I use wireless internet conenction and it is unsecured. My vista ultimate has the sp1 and latest updates, with firewall on... In these conditions can someone reach and use the hotmail from my computer? What is going on? If I cannot get a sensible answer, I will start to doubt if someone breaks in my home during the day and use my laptop, when I am at work.
Users running Windows Vista: Click the ?Start? button. Type: %ALLUSERSPROFILE%Application DataOffice Genuine Advantage data Delete the file: data.dat Go to and click the Validate Office button. But not only do I get an access denied even when running explorer as admiistrator, but the full path resolves to nothing. I installed the TECHNET version of Vista Ultimate, and then I had to copy all my old dir's over from windows.old. Then I installed Office again, but now I get the errors.
After installation of WindowsVistaSP2Beta-x86.exe, I've got a lettering on the right lower corner of desktop just above the Notification Area: "Windows Vista (TM) Evaluation copy. Build 6002" My question is: How to remove this inscription?
Post in reply to: bobtrowell Run Winver At Command Prompt And If You See The Following Next 2 The Build 6001 Number: V., Whereas V. = A 3 Digit Beta Build Number, Then You Are Running A Beta Version Of Windows Vista Service Pack One, Just FYI. If There Is No V. Next 2 The Build 6001, Then You Are Running Windows Vista SP1 RTM (RTM = Which Stands 4 Release To Manufacturing = Gold Or Final Release).
