for awhile i could play videos with no problems, but now when i try to play them (from Internet for example) they stop and start and stop and start with that circle thingy whirling when it pauses and take forever. i tried uninstalling the adobe flash player and reinstalling it, but that has not done anything to fix the problem.

No more random crashes. Now I have Ultimate I don't like Winmonkeys Media Player, so I have installed the recommended version of Winamp for my 32 bit OS V5.5.4.2147.....

I can play the files on my computer with QuickTime player, but when I try to play them with Windows Media Center on the same PC, it says "Cannot play video. One or more codecs required to play this content cannot be found." The first time I tried to play these in Media Center, it downloaded a codec first before attempting to play, but it still cannot play them. How can I make Media Center play these video files?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm don't even know if this is a Vista issue but I'm beginning to run out of areas to investigate. While playing WoW, my computer screen will freeze for approximately 3-5 seconds. Generally speaking, this happens after I've been playing for "a while". I've had it happen as soon as 30 minutes into my gaming, or as late as 3-4 hours; however, once it starts it then repeats itself with increasing frequency, reboots seems to help a little. There is no "trigger" that sets it off, I've had it happen in indoor environments, outdoor environments, 25 man raids, or by myself.
During this freeze my toon online will just stand there like an idiot. On my end, the video completely freezes but whatever sound was playing at the moment of freeze will play itself over and over at about 1/2 second intervals, kind of a machine gun effect of sound. I also get a sound from the computer case that might be the sound of a hard drive getting accessed..................
I've got a problem with WMP 11 playing .wmv files. It suddenly started to play these with distorted sound and slowed video. When I put any graphic file into the forlder with wmv file, open picture and slide to .wmv file it plays ok. I have already tried to reset WMP 11 settings with registry patch and tried /sfc scannow to no avail.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy Vista Ultimate x64 version had been running great for about a month an half. Then one day the audio began to get choppy. The audio works fine for about 30 seconds and then it seems like it get distroted like people are talking slower. Im thinking this might not just be an audio problem with the driver but maybe a video problem. So I installed the newest WHQL supported video drivers. Still didn't fix the problem. Then I installed the newest realtek AC 97' audio drivers. Still didn't work. I even formated Windows Vista Ultimate x64 and did a clean install and I still have the problem.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with the the capture of my video into Windows Movie Maker. I have now recaptured the video again after ensuring that all othe programmes on the computer are disabled, however the problem still persists. During the actual capture process the video runs at normal speed and there are no fluctuations in the speed during that process. I do notice that the capture display on the computer tends to stop and start from time to time, but I believe this is normal and does not indicate a problem.
Once the capture is complete and I play back scenes from my capture, then the speed of the playback varies all the time, sometimes running faster than original capture and again slower at other times. I am sure that I have read somewhere that this is not abnormal during the video editing phase. However the problem arises in that once you publish the video these speed variations are written into the published video and subsequently transfered to the DVD.
I feel ill at ease starting a thread that I did not know has already been discussed ad nauseum in the past. But how do I check first? It's not in tutorial. Does FORUM have archive of previous threads?

Yesterday i got a PCI slot cooler for my video card and i over clocked it some. About 100-125 more on each stat. Last i took out my video card and went to the on board video and tried that and yet it did not work ether. I tried reformatting thinking it was drivers or something didn't work ether. every time i try installing the OS i get General causes of "STOP 0x0000007F" errors Divide by zero error A divide by zero is caused when a DIV instruction is executed and the divisor is 0. I have a quad-boot Intel CoreDuo machine with 4 GB of memory and an ATI AIW X1900 Radeon (multi-booting courtesy of EasyBCD). To put the matter as quickly as possible, all four systems (Vista 32, Vista 64, XP, and Ubuntu) have been happily coexisting for a long time. I haven't used Vista 64 for about 10 days and went in to do some work on it this morning. To my surprise, the video disappeared immediately after the green startup wait indicator. Eventually, after about the usual amount of time and hard disk activity, the startup sound came on but absolutely no video. I restored my full backup of the Vista 64 partition from last Sunday=97 same problem!
I went in on safe mode but it is impossible to change video settings or install new drivers in safe mode so that was a dead end. I tried the repair utility that comes with Vista but it could find no problem with startup. My working hypothesis is that something has gone wrong with the video drivers although that may not be the case. Even if it were, I can think of no way of fixing it short of completely rebuilding the Vista 64 system checked desperately do not want to do
who has purchased a JVC Everio HDD video camera has probably learned that they chose to use some god forsaken proprietary video format - the .MOD extension. Apparently this is some sort of MPEG2 encoding, however, most major video editing suites prefer not to accept this format? what we need is something more common? such as .AVI or .MPG. I would be happy with the .MOD file format if the software that came with the JVC Everio actually worked.

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate and when I stream videos from websites like Gametrailers.com as either a Windows Media or a Quicktime file the video is choppy and has sound issues. If I download the same video there is no choppyness and once the stream is no longer on HTTP and is on CACHE it is fine. I know i have enough bandwidth for the video and under statistics I does not show any errors .I have all the latest drivers and service packs. I have reinstalled Vista as both 32 bit and 64 bit to see if there was some difference. I also have this same issue on my Laptop running Vista.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded to Vista 32bit service pack 2. I held off because of a problem I was having with service pack 1 (as I am about to explain), but I thought service pack 2 may have fixed the problem. However, it hasn't.
When I try to play a DVD through Windows Media Center it is just all fuzzy and static. You can see the picture moving, but it's so fuzzy and pixelated that it's impossible to actually make anything out. When I play through Media Player, the picture is just black. The sound is working fine in both programs.
I downloaded a program called VLC media player, and that plays the DVDs just fine, so does this mean that it is a problem with codecs? I'm not too sure, hence why I'm asking here on how to fix the problem. Obviously I could just keep using this new VLC player, but I prefer using Media Center.
All .wmv files have stopped playing. I noticed the wmpconfig, wmplayer, and wmpshare files were updated 10/11/07. This appears to have occurred with an automatic Windows update. What happened and how do I fix this. No program I have on my computer will play these videos. I'm running Vista Home Premium.

Yesterday I wanted to use my headset to play a game, so I had to change my settings to stereo to get the sound out of both the left and right headphones. When I had finished, I changed it back to 5.1 through the control panel, but now the sound is only playing out of the left and right speakers. All speakers are functional, since when I test it through the control panel the 'bing' sound plays through all one-by-one. The speakers worked fully in 5.1 before I changed the settings. Windows Vista 32bit SP2.

So now every ten minutes my games freeze up. What can I do about it? I've read some artikels about shutting of DEP completely. I'm wondering though what that will mean for my security. On some other forums it has been implied that the DEP errors have something to do with faulty hardware.

My new PC with Vista Business edition will not play DVD's on Media Player as I was told it would do. I get an error message saying no encoder installed. The help search said go to options and enable encoder. It still doesn't play. Do I need some kind of encoder?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm running Vista Ultimate x64 and noticed a problem recently when playing music via windows media center. However, having played around in WMP11 also, WMP is doing the same thing so I believe the problem is somewhere in there. Initially the problem started when trying to play a collection of mp3 files off my local drive. Whether it be via an existing playlist or simply by selecting an album within WMC. The problem is that a track plays and then WMC/WMP freezes on the next track. If I skip to the next track that plays, but then the next track freezes. Sometimes the 1st track on the list doesn't play but the next will. Sometimes the 1st plays and then the next won't!
So, I closed WMC and opened up WMP directly. (This happens in both x86 and x64 versions of WMP by the way). If I create a playlist, the same thing happens a track plays, then freezes, if I skip on, the next track plays and then the next one freezes.....
I have a problem with windows dreamscene. When I try to apply downloaded .wmv dreamscenes from sites such as dreamscene.org or and custom .wmv for that matter, it works but when I restore a minimized window and then if if i x out or go back to my desktop the dreamscene which is a custom .wmv is paused...when I right click to hit play dreamscene i cannot for it is already supposedly playing..and sometimes when apply a custom .wmv it experiences that problem and it will also sometimes cause explorer.exe to crash and then ask me to restart explorer.exe or find solution online?
