View 5 Replies View RelatedI now have vista and on my old computer with earthlink software I was able to have a recipient added to my address book when sending mail. I have searched windows mail and cannot find where to give this command. Consequently people responding to an email from me have to go through the spamblocker and are not in the address book unless I put them in separately.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I send an email using a large group and just one of the emails in the group is an incorrect or improper email, it will give an error message and tell you that the email is not being sent because of the email. One would think that all of the other email addresses would get the message, but it won't. Is there a way to correct it so the email will at least go out to the other correct addresses?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have an older computer, running XP, and I used Microsoft Digital Library, to keep track of about 2K images. I now have a new computer, running Vista, and have used the "transfer files " (using a USB) option, on Vista, to import all the photos, to the new HD. I also installed the old Microsoft Digital Image Suite (including the "libr ary"), on the new Vista=A0HD. Some of the photo files transferred just fine - dates taken, labels, etc.; however, a bunch of them transferred with totally incorrect dates taken, an d missing, or no labels. Needless to say, to fix this mess, on an individual photo file basis, is go ing to take forever. (I did change a few of the dates taken, and added labe ls, using the Photo Gallery, on Vista, and it did work, but there are tons of them, still wrong.)
View 6 Replies View RelatedMy one year old Hp laptop has gone dead and am thinking the best solution is to buy a new one, problem is this Laptop came with an OEM vista premium. My priority of course is to get the files from the old Laptop to the new one but if I can get the whole sytem up on the new one that would be marvelous.
I read that OEM is tied to the machine and cannot be moved to another question is if i transfer the hard disk to the new Laptop and install a new vista will it recognise the old one and repair it while preserving the system. If not will conenting the old hard disk to the new one through a USB enclosure gain me acsess to the whole hard disk including my documents.
I want to transfer files from Vista to an older machine using XP. How do I do that? Now the Vista machine will not read a CD used to taransfer the file. Also, how do you go from XP to Vista?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently got windows 7 and installed it onto an empty hard drive in my pc. I now have my old hard drive with vista on and my new hard drive with windows 7 on. The only problem is i have hundreds of programs and updates etc on my old hard drive that i really want to use with windows 7 on my new hard drive. Does anyone know how i can transfer over all the programs and data from my old hard drive to my new hard drive? I tryed just copying the files over but i dont have the registry settings on my new hard drive with windows 7, so none of the programs work
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have an issue that does not seem easy to solve. I have looked at many ghost software programs to try to achieve this but have not found one yet. I need to move my PROGRAMS and files from my Vista 32bit machine to a new Vista 64bit machine I purchased. How can I do this? If I cannot do this what will the performance issue be by doing a complete copy of my current 32bit os and using that on my new i7 machine? Finally if I do transfer my 32 bit system, can I upgrade to a 64bit OS? What about when Windows 7 is available?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am having problems importing contacts into Vista Contacts. I tried 2 things :
1/ LDIF
I exported my contacts in Thunderbird under an LDIF format.
I then imported this LDIF file within Contacts
The import stops 1/5 of the way, simply saying that there is an error
in the contacts, and it stays stuck
2/ CVS
I exported my contacts in Thunderbird under a CVS file. I then tried to import the file within Contacts but cannot do the mapping:
- all column headings are lumped together, with plenty of ","
- all accentuated caracters are replaced by squares
Also, with the LDIF method, 50 contacts out of 300 were imported. In these imported contacts, all accentuated caracters were replaced by symbols. I opened the CVS file in Microsoft Excel: everything is fine.
I installed Outlook 2003 on my computer which has Vista Ultimate so I could use a Dell Axim. Now when I go to fax a document using Windows Fax and Scan and try to select a contact, Outlook Contacts is displayed instead of Windows Contacts. It won't let me choose to use Windows Contacts either. I tried using Default Programs to associate Windows Contacts with it's defaults but that didn't work.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been trying for hours, now. My problem is that the contacts fields get all mixed up because they were outlook and them gmail, and now back to outlook 2007. But when I try to export them to Windows Vista Contacts I loose all information. My outlook 2007 is a trial version and will expire next time I turn it on, so I have to get it done today.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with the Vista program Windows Contacts in conjunction with using email programs. I have Windows Vista Home Premium. I like to use Outlook 2000 as my email program. I have the same problem if I use Windows Mail as my email program. I can use Outlook to send and receive email, but I cannot add any contacts to Windows Contacts. Also when creating a new email, if I click on the To… button to get to Windows Contacts, I get the error message “The messaging interface has returned an unknown error. If this problem persists, restart Outlook.”, which of course does not help.
I am not sure, but I think I created the problem by importing Outlooks 2000 contacts from my old PC in an improper format into Outlook 2000 on my new Vista PC (which is where the problem is).
I've attempted to send my old contact list to 'Windows mail' but have not been successful at this point. What am I doing wrong?
View 8 Replies View RelatedIn windows outlook you could arrange your contacts so that a folder (family,
local friends, Veterans) etc. could be together and when you addressed the
email ...you could just select from one of your folders and address the mail.
NOW the folders don't show up and I have to select the addressee's from the
400 names in my contacts list.
to make groups for all of them...cause sometimes an email is only to a few
people in a folder.
I would like to import the contacts from my Gmail account to Windows Mail.
View 9 Replies View RelatedIn addition to the contacts defined for Windows Mail, when I begin to type an addres in, say, the To line, Windows Maio offers suggestions of addresses that are NOT in the Contacts list.
How do I clear out that detritis?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've imported my contacts file into Windows Mail but something funny is happening. When I am creating a message and am typing the first few letters of a contact's name, some names come up automatically just as they did in the Outlook but not all of them, although I those names are there on the contacts list. I can't figure out why. In order to add these names I have to go to Tools, Select Recipient and add their names to the TO field. Is there a way I can get Windows Mail to insert all contacts names automatically?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a client who wants to import a bunch of Excel data into Contacts in XP. Can I do this for him on a Vista PC, then save a wab file? Further to this, does Vista actually have a wab file?
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy cmigrated contacts are a mess...When I click on "contacts" the list is sorted by first name. Next, I attempted to sort by 'last name' - the field for 'last name' is blank for most contacts DESPITE there being a first and last name on their contact card. Outlook Express was simple, intuitive and easy to customize. Windows Mail is cumbersome, slow and totally counter-intuitive as well as complicate as hell to customize.
1) How do I get the contacts list to reflect what is ACTUALLY on the contact cards: ie: First and last names
2) Can I switch back to Outlook Express with Vista?
How do I sort contacts by last name instead of the default first name in Vista? XP has a "sort by" option under the view pulldown, Vista programmers didn't think this was necessary, or the option is hidden someplace where I cant find it.
