I now have vista and on my old computer with earthlink software I was able to have a recipient added to my address book when sending mail. I have searched windows mail and cannot find where to give this command. Consequently people responding to an email from me have to go through the spamblocker and are not in the address book unless I put them in separately.
View 4 RepliesThis may be a Office 2007 question. I use Windows Fax & Scan and Outlook 2007. I am unable to choose a recipient from Outlook 2007 Contacts correctly to use in Windows Fax & Scan. When I click on the To: Button in Windows Fax & Scan I only get three columns shown. Name, Display Name and E-mail Address. If the intended recipient does not have an email adress their name does not appear. What am I setting up incorrectly. I can not see an option in Windows Fax & Scan. Is it a Outlook setting.

The old system i used had a "display as" option and all that it showed was the persons name or nickname. I usually send mail using the BCC option to hide identities so i know that its not a big deal but its driving me mad. I know that there must be a way of changing it to just show a name.

Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E" error message. I can send using the webmail application, but not Windows Mail. I am using AVG and have tried uninstalling. No luck. Tried reinstalling without email scanning. No luck. I've changed my outgoing port to 587. No luck. I've checked "outgoing server requires authentication". No luck. Called ISP and they say it is a Windows Mail issue.

It now takes for ever if I want to send attachments, for it to fail right at the end. sorry i didnt copy my error but its usually lsays oses connection with server is the error. if i am lucky if i just send a few words the email sends other wise i have to send my emails thru the road runner internet site. I call roadrunner and they say i have a corrupt file.

I then sent a test email and copied myself. I received the copy but again the recipient didn't. My pal then sent an email to a number of his friends requesting a reply and he received replies from all of them. So it seems that he is receiving emails from everyone except me and I'm sending emails to everyone except him. I should state that this has only happened within the last week, up until then I had been sending emails to this address without any problems.

We have Norton ntivirus 2009 and all patches and downloads for Windows have been completed. I have Verizon Broadband as my connection and my ISP is another company. I have contacted both of these companies and have reset my incoming and outgoing servers several times, before and after all of the updates for Windows and Norton. I have also shut off the email scanning on Norton. The only thing I have not done is somthing called "Turning off Background Compaction" What in the world is this and how would any regular Joe KNOW to do this?

Such as we can do on forums, etc. I am using Windows Mail with Windows Vista Home Premium 64, soon to upgrade to Windows 7. Example—if I wanted to send a link to aol ionstead of having to list it this way, I should be able to list it as just aol and clicking on the link will go right there.
