Does anyone know how I can sync Windows time to the global time for my timezone? I had to manually set the time in BIOS the first time I installed this motherboard from 9/19/2008, and I never had to do that. Also I had to install NIC drivers from the disk... again I haven't had to do that for a long time. I guess Vista didn't have Realtek RTL8168C(P)/8111C(P) NIC drivers integrated into the OS?
View 3 RepliesI purchased a dell laptop last year and have had numerous issues form the start. It is running the Vista Business operating system. I realize I should have sent the thing back to the factory right away, but I didn't. I would like to reinstall the operating system and start fresh to see if the same issues occur: automatically shuting down, blue / black screen, clock consistantly loosing time, printers not working, yadda, yadda, yadda. I have all the restore disks that came with the computer. What do I need to consider before attempting to take it back to square one?

Recently I tried installing many CD/DVD emulator softwares like 'daemon tools' and 'Win CD emulator' which din't worked in my 64 bit system, so I uninstalled them. After this everytime when I triy accessing my pendrive my system just hangs. So, I installed Microsoft's 'fix it' software. It said that there is some problem with some 'APFB3097 IDE controller' and that it can't repair it. When I opened Device manager I saw that driver under storage controller menu. One thing I observed is that, the code which appears before IDE controller is random. It keeps on changing sometimes. Also when I am in safe mode it vanishes and my all my pendrives work as well.
View 5 Replies View RelatedMy laptop is doing so weird and wild stuff, and I'd much rather take care of this problem myself (with the help of the internet, of course) than take it to a rotund egghead who will probably press three buttons, fix it completely, and charge me five hundred dollars. So here's the deal: First, when I was to click on, say, a Picture folder, the folder will load up but all the thumbnailed images of all my pictures will be the same stock Windows image. Like, I can't preview any of my pictures by looking at their thumbnails anymore. So that was a problem, and it's still a problem. Haven't fixed that one. Now recently, when I want to open a program, say Itunes or Firefox, instead of doing exactly that, it takes me to a Windows 'Open With' subscreen and asks me with WHICH program I'd like to open....the program I'd like to open. It's maddening.
My Macafee isn't opening any more. I just did a Dell System Update last night but it said it didn't find anything. I ran an Ad-Aware that didn't find anything. And to top it all off, for some reason my computer simply cannot check for new Windows Updates.I have no idea what's going on. Oh and if it matters my keyboard is all wonky. Not that that's an issue anybody here can help me with but I thought I'd mention it. My laptop is only a year or so old so I'm not sure why it's having all these issues. Oh and I don't know what kind of Vista I have. 32? 64? How do I find that out? heart and soul for any assistance anyone can give.
I have no idea which category in the forums this post should go! So I've been having these random hibernation problems for a while now, but last week, it got REALLY bad. I'm on an HP Pavilion dv2500 and I left it on to download something and then accidentally fell asleep myself. When woke up the next morning found out the thing had hibernated on me again.Well, nothing unusual there as I have this problem frequently, except this time, it couldn't resume windows - kept on getting stuck at this black screen during boot with this flashing horizontal cursor in the corner of the screen. After another attempt at resuming (after manually shutting it down and opening it again) I told it to cancel resume and just start windows normally.
And that's when I noticed a myriad of symptoms! It took an AGE for me to log in, and when I finally did, I got a couple of messages, one from Norton saying it couldn't scan my email anymore and another general little windows speech bubble that said:'Failed to connect to a windows service - windows could not connect to the System Event Notification Service service. The problem prevents limited users from logging on to the system. As an administrative user, you and review the System Event Log for details about why the service didn't respond.'....
I recently tried to upgrade from Vista Basic to Vista Premium but the activation key didn't work. So I recovered Vista Basic from the windows.old file but there is still a corrupt version of Vista Premium on my hard disk. how to remove it?
View 9 Replies View RelatedAlright, i had a problem trying to Enable realtek audio from the Sound Hardware list from Control panel. After an hour of hunting and freaking out constantly, I found a solution that was looking at me in the face the whole time, I feel kinda stupid.
To Fix - Goto Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > Right click anywhere in this screen > Show disabled devices > Left-click speakers > properties > Device Usage > Enable.
my problem is the immense ram use in vista. but this is a new problem to me! i had after booting vista (all programms and services were load!) 1.2gb in use at the most! i had problems with my pc, so i reinstalled vista (vista didn't empty the ram anymore after a programm had been closed). now it starts at 1gb and climbs up to 1.3 to 1.5gb in a few minutes! in the meantime i do nothing, vista does that on its own. and i haven't installed yet the startup programms i have had installed before. using vista 64-bit
View 4 Replies View RelatedI attempted to install Vista Ultimate 64 (w/SP1) with 4GB. Didn't work - BSOD. I took 1 stick out so now I had 2GB. After about 5 reboots, I finally got Vista to install. However, as soon as I'd install the latest gfx driver (175.16-Vista64) it would crash. I spent hours on the phone with Microsoft - they couldn't solve it. Called EVGA, they said they hadn't heard of any problems with the latest driver. I installed an older driver (169.25) and got it work. I never got the system stable, and I don't think it's the gfx card.
I tried installing Gears of War, which seemed to install just fine, however, if I started to do something else (I tried this twice) it would give me a BSOD. Then, I tried installing it and nothing else. It crashed on it's own giving me a BSOD. Another time I was just looking around the features in Control Panel and it crashed. Bottom line - it was never very stable.
I decided to format my drive and start fresh. This time, I could get the Vista disc to load and install, but it would crash at various places during install (sometimes after "Installing Features," but most of the time just before it would finish - so about 30-45 minutes into the installation). Vaio Laptop that was in desperate need of a wipe and reinstall. Unfortunately she didn't know where her Vaio's copy of Windows Vista Premium was. While I was at my campus bookstore, I asked them if they had a copy of just the media itself as I already had my sister's Vaio license. They sold me a copy of the Ultimate version for $20 or $40 dollars, I don't remember how much exactly. I knew that the Ultimate version had all the versions, including the Premium version my sister had a license for. I used Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder to look up her license which I e-mailed to myself. I reinstalled Vista which installed as the Premium version, just as I expected. Five to six hours later I had everything set up. I thought everything was activated and working just fine. I was wrong.
And now a week later, my sister brings me her laptop and complains herbackground is gone. The operating system had reverted itself to its limited "Illegal State". Frustrated and not wanting to spend another five hours redoing it all, I tried using the license that came on the back of the CD that I got at my campus bookstore which Windows refused. It won't allow me to upgrade to Ultimate either. What is my best solution at this point? Will Microsoft support me in this? Can I get a disc replacement from Vaio? The last thing we want to do is have to buy another license. I don't know if if its okay to use the license that came on the back of my Ultimate disc either.
I installed Vista Ultimate in my 2.4 G. Core 2 Duo iMAC.
1. Vista didn't Recognized my ATI Video card. So I cant use Media Center Contents and play DVD.
2. NO SOUND.
I have been wracking my brain for weeks now, trying to play C&C First Decade with Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge over the LAN, it will only run on IPX networking which I could setup with 2x XP machines, I have Vista Ultimate on my PC, and XP on another, I found some drivers for IPX to work on Vista, didn't work ... So I loaded Hamachi which had built-in IPX support. Now when I open RA2, it no longer says IPX unavailable, it shows 00 00 00...
So it can see my Hamachi adapter with IPX support, great! The other XP machine has Hamachi installed, and they are both VPN'd (Connected) on the same Hamachi Network. They don't see each other... The XP machine shows a few IPX networks, I have tried switching to them all, even put the Hamachi adapter and the LAN adapter to the top of the preferred networks list. This was sort-of a breeze with both XP, but with Vista it's looking to be a bit tricky. I have no firewalls running on either machine and I am pretty cluey when it comes to networking (TCP/IP that is).

I reconnected my computer and i know everything is correctly plugged in but my audio isn't working i can't hear a thing.
I am on Vista Home premium
And I'm using Realtek High Definition Audio
When i check the Sound settings everything is High and maxed out nothing is on mute and it shows that my speakers are emitting noise.
After installing SP2 I noticed that Windows had replaced my Realtek HD Audio driver with its own older version. It also now appears twice in the Device Manager; I can remove one of them with no ill effects but it is redetected at next boot and reinstalled. So I removed both of them, installed the latest Realtek driver and rebooted. Now I still have two instances - one (called Realtek High Definition Audio) with the Realtek driver and the other (simply called High Definition Audio Device) with the Microsoft drivers. If I force the Microsoft one to use the Realtek drivers it crashes horribly with a BSoD (so I won't be doing that again!).
Once again I can remove the Microsoft one with no ill effects but it's redetected and installed again on the next boot.Something in my memory tells me I always had two entries under 'Sound, Video and game controllers' but the second one wasn't called "High Definition Audio Device" and the Driver Provider was Realtek, not Microsoft. Trouble is, I can't remember what it was called, or what it was for. I could always do a System Restore to pre-SP2 and find out that way but it's probably worth finding out here first whether I'm worrying about nothing or not. It seems I've got two components of the same chip with drivers from different releases.
I can't get the the audio to work (at all) on Vista x64. I went from XP to Windows 7 that didn't work out because I couldn't find any audio drivers that worked. So I decided to switch to Vista for the time being, same thing no audio. I've tried installing the chipset and several versions of the audio drivers (RealTek). I've checked device manager and it detects it and shows it's working fine (even get the green bars when music plays).

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a GA-73PVM-S2H motherboard with onboard Realtek HD Audio. I have a 2.1 speaker set up which has two small front speakers and one subwoofer. Until last night I had a Guitarport which is a kinda external sound card which i use for playing the guitar (its pretty cool). Anyway, i took this out and plugged the speaker lead back into my PC but since then i cannot get any sound out of the speakers. When i look at the Realtek Panel and get it to look like my set up, when i do the test thing on the speakers NO sound comes out at all. However, when i set it up to have REAR speakers i can hear the test sound but it comes out of the front speakers and when i play an MP3 i can hear the music REALLY QUIET as if it is the sound that would normally be coming out of the rear speakers which i do not have. It sounded to me like i had connected the speakers up incorrectly but there is only one lead and it is definately in the right 'hole' and i tried it in all the other 'holes' too but still not working.

I have 4 speakers plus a subwoofer, so I set it as 5.1 speakers and unchecked the button for a center speaker in the manager so that it won't make my sub act as a center. However, on the back of my desktop, the jack for the sub is also the jack for the center speaker. So, whenever I listen to my music, it won't use my sub, but if I check the option for having a center speaker, it tries to make my sub act as a center speaker, which makes it sound awful.
View 6 Replies View Relatedfirstly, apologies for not so great english and especially for not being very computer savvy. my issue is that the audio fades in and out of hp pavilion a6010n desktop pc, windows vista home premium, sp1, 32-bit os. i always use headphones plugged directly into the front of the tower, and my lcd monitor has built-in panel speakers. this problem has been constant since i purchased the pc in august of 2007, but will resolve itself periodically sometimes for a few weeks or even a few months.
i have noticed that it most often happens upon start up and even often affects the boot up windows noises. then, if i open windows media player or anything else with audio (Internet videos, yahoo! news videos, etc.) the sound in my headphones will fade in and out from one ear to the other - usually (but not always) it is the left ear that loses audio, but lately both have done this. this will happen immediately after starting up, then usually reslove itself after anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour - then all will work well again...........
I bought a new computer with this configuration:INTEL G31/1600Mhz/asrock Intel® Dual-Core E5200-2.53GHZ-2MB-800FSB/45Nm Memory 2 GB Kingston onboard Sound card: Realtek High Definition Audio I installed Windows Vista Business x32 bit and everything is working properly except the sound card, I can hear music but it sounds so bad. I have 2 front and 2 rear speakers that worked great with my old computer (also with onboard realtek sound card) so I guess the speakers are not the problem. Let me tell you exactely how the sound sounds like.
I put Madonna, Fever song (which is a good one..)(MP3) and I bearly hear her voice... when her background vocals start screaming I can hear them bettter the the main vocal. It's like the front speakers and the rare swithced, but they didn't - from the Realtewk Audio Manager when I test the sound everything is ok.. I mean the front sound comes from the front speakers and the rare sound from the rare ones. I also tried to change the speaker configuration from 5.1 speakers to stereo and to quadraphonic but the sound is the same - only background voices!
I'm sure this has been dealt with, but I had my realtek HD installed perfectly fine and I deleted tunebite because I don't use it anymore and what do you know, my sound claims to be installed but when I open volume mixer it says no audio is detected. Does this mean I should try an OS reinstall? I tried three different realtek drivers and none have solved the problem.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIn my status bar, pop ups continued to pop up, stating that i just unplugged a device from the driver, then it would tell me i plugged it back in, all the time doing nothing remotely close to these insane accusations, i continued without really worrying about it. until i actually lost my sound, and it went crazy with those pop ups. so i uninstalled the driver, reboot, installed new driver from realtek, and it worked for like 4 hours, then no sound again. uninstalled driver, reboot, install, reboot, no sound, and i am apparently continuously unplugging the jack like a madman. so, another uninstall, reboot, but this time i install the driver from the cd i got with my pc (dell inspiron 530s-120b)......................

It was showing realteck speakers not plugged in - they are within the pc, so I tried unplugging things and rebooting to no effect. I then tried disabling and restarting, only problem is I can't work out how to enable them. The files are there, but when I go into control panel sound and manage audio devices it says there aren't any.

I need to connect PC with Panasonic AV Receiver via digital connection. When I use coaxial connection, sound works fine BUT sound is too silent! I have Sony DVD player with coaxial digital output too. If I use subjective for example 1-10 "scale", build-in RDS tuner (in AV receiver) has subjective volume 10, sound from CD inserted in DVD player has the same subjective volume 10 and sound from PC connected via coaxial digi has subjective volume 5. Only volume control i have in Windows is set to max!
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pi1505 laptop with Windows Vista 32 bit home premium installed. When I got the laptop there was an icon in the system tray near to the clock which when you clicked on it opened up a nice looking graphic from which you could alter the realtek sound settings and choose things such as concert speech room etc. It had graphics depicting speakers and other things.
That has now completely disappeared and I cannot seem to get it back or find it anywhere on my computer. It made making adjustments to the sound settings so much easier and I miss not having it. Is there anyway to restore it back so that I can alter my sound settings more easily
My System is in my sig. My 1y old Toshiba laptop w/Vista, using Realtek sound driver version, 6.0.1.5322. I had the left speaker go out. I ran through all system diagnostics. I checked for updates and found I have the latest driver. I then pulled the keyboard and disconnected both speaker leads from the board. Connecting the left speaker lead to the right board plug in, the speaker dose work. I then connected the right speaker lead to the left board plug in, and got no sound. FYI when I plug in the head phones only the right side works as well. My question is, based on information currently out there, is it likely I have an issue with the board or is there a known issue with the driver that would cause sound to go out on one side?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just Upgraded mobo and processor and after much much much hassel, managed to get everytrhing working. For some reason, this new mobo wouldn't allow an install of an older version of XP, only new versions with sp2. My legit copy was an older version and wouldn't install right, but that's not the topic here. My new mobo comes with integrated Realtek ALC888S sound. 7.1 High Def with an hdmi output. I believe it's 24-bit sound and the specs on it look decent. I also have a SB Live! 24-bit card I've been using prior to new mobo. how do the two compare? Am I better off sticking to my SB Live! 24-bit card, or trying out the new Realtek?

I'm getting no sound out of my speakers(2.1), when I plug them into the green jack on the rear panel it says that I have plugged in the pink and black jacks, but neither of those are plugged in. I've spent hours on the phone with HP and looking on the internet but i can't find any solutions. I've updated every possible driver. Every now and then I can somehow get sound by messing with settings and restarting or doing a power drain or a million other things, but as soon as I restart the computer they aren't working again, and the same solution never seems to work twice. Also, when the sound does work, it still says the black and pink are plugged in.
