Apr 29, 2008I am trying to get an excel spreadsheet macro to function in excel 2007 on a Vista Business OS. it runs fine in excel 2007 on XP pro OS. Is there a known work-around for this? It is obviously an issue with Vista.

May 10, 2008How do I create a new toolbar? How do I edit the Toolbar Command Buttons (Icons?)? How do I create and add an Autocorrect (AC) Command Button to an Excel Toolbar? I HATE the ribbons, period? I LOVED the nice, neat, useful, and tiny toolbars I created and edited in the 2003 programs and this 'RIBBON' thing is the most obnoxious thing ever! I REALLY fell bad for those laptop dudes and dudettes, especially the 15" (or smaller) screens. I have a nice, new, big 19" and I find the useless and extravagant space requirements for the "Ribbon" (who came up with that one, anyway?) EXTREMELY ANNOYING..............

May 31, 2008My cordless keyboard model is S 510. I am having trouble typing letters r, t, f, g, v, and b. They don't appear no matter how many times I press the keys. The only way I have been able to type them is by repositioning my keyboard at odd angles. Each time I restart my computer, it's a different position. The letters never work when I just lay my keyboard flat on my desk.

Mar 23, 2008While browsing files and folders I've noticed something extreemly annoying. You can see the size of individual files in the Size column but you cant see the folder's contents size. This extreemly frustrating and I cant seem to find where I can enable that function. I know you can scroll your mouse over folders one at a time and a window will apear and you can see the size then, but thats just inconveniant for what Im doing. I need to be able to glance at multiple folder sizes constantly.

Nov 6, 2009I want to install Windows 7.I have 2 Hard Drives, both are portioned in 2 .
If I install windows 7 by booting into Vista, inserting the Windows 7 DVD and run setup.
This way I can assign drive letters that I will want to use consistently in both Operating Systems
I am a little bit confused after reading about installing Win 7. If I boot from Win 7 DVD it will assign the letter C: to its Boot Volume, no matter what drive I choose.
Then it says to assign D: to the start volume. The other letters will be in sequence.
Does that mean I need to put Win & Boot Volume on the same drive as Vista's Boot Volume?
As of now I have First Drive Portioned in to C: and D:
Second Drive Portioned into E: and F:.
I want to install Win 7 on the second drive in part ion 1 which is E:
When I install from Vista I just have to check E: Drive and the Boot Volume
will be on E: too. Hopefully I will have the choice to boot into Vista or
Win 7?
I would also like to give the Drives Names:
Drive 1 Portion 1 Big Vista - Which is C:
Drive 1 Partition 2 Little Vista - Which is D:
Drive 2 Partition 1 Big Win 7 - Which is E:
Drive 2 Partition 2 Little Win 7 -Which is F:
This way I will know exactly which is which, even if Vista calls Big Vista
C and Little Vista D: Also if Win 7 calls it Big Win 7 H:

Changing Drive Letters, Disk Management Does Not Appear To Help
Apr 2, 2009I have the following setup now: C: Vista, D: CD, E: CD RW,F: DVD RW, G: = Backup Vista, H: Backup 2, I: Old Stuff. This is what shows up when I look in Computer. The surprising is that I = don't have a CD, although I do have everything else. I want to remove = the erroneous D: and rename I: to D: -- and Disk Management does not = appear to help.

Apr 15, 2009I have 5 USB devices (2 external drives, 1 flash drive, one CF card reader, and 1 Sony walkman) that when connected score a drive letter. My problem is that the drive letters change depending on the order in which the devices are connected (the first one plugged in gets drive F, then G, etc). This causes a headache for my backup software SyncBackPro, where I have schemes set up for my two external hard drives based on drive letters. I can change the drive letters in Disk Management (Vista Ultimate) but that only sticks while that device is connected. For instance, if I unplug my primary backup drive G and connect my flash drive, the flash drive would then become G. Is there any way of permanently locking a particular device to a particular drive letter?

Changing The Color And Font Of Text In New Letters
Mar 23, 2008I'm used to have Comic Sans while composing an email and Courier New when writing to a newsgroup. I've choosen these settings in Tools->Options->Send but they seem not to affect what's happening. What can i've done wrong? A guess is that there's an overriding setting putting everything to the same font. The settings for reading are working, though.

Jan 3, 2009after shrinking the D: partition, the drive letters and actual partition sequence on the drive changed - the C: (Vista) partition has switched places with the D: (Recovery) partition in Disk Management (D: is now in front of C I first defragged the D: drive using JKDefrag and used its built in feature to move all the files to the end of that partition, so that after splitting D:, the blank portion would be next to the C: partition (so I could have it merge with C: ) how do I get the partitions back to their normal positions (in Disk Mgmt)? and if I delete the D: partition, will it merges with C: and keep my Vista install harmed?

May 6, 2008I haven't found a solution to this yet: I have 2 network driver established. They reconnect during reboots and are accessible fine. For some reason they stopped being visible in explorer until I explicitly go to them by enteing the letter in the address bar. Then one or both with show up (usually just the one I put in) I also have an internet webdav drive that also does not show up until i put it's letter in the address bar. If I use applications to access the letters, they show up ok in that application's file open/save box.

Nov 20, 2009My company has an Excel application we have developed and we use an Installer program to distribute it. The installer default is to install the program into a Program File that is named. This works flawlessly on xp but on any computer that has Vista installed, the file opens in Read Only, which defeats our entire application. The read only format can not be changed in any of the obvious ways (under Properties etc). This is a huge problem for us. Is there any way around it?

Aug 22, 2009I am using Vista Home Premium and Office 2007 Home & Student. I am printing to a Brother HL-2070N using wifi. For some reason, I can't print from Excel. I can print from the Word and Powerpoint applications in the Office 2007 package, but not from Excel. It looks like it prints (i.e. a small window opens and it says it is printing) but nothing comes out of the printer. I have 2 other PCs with the same setup (except the one PC is on XP), all print from all three Office applications, so it must be something with this particular PC (a laptop).

Apr 3, 2009Since I had my Vista Small Business reinstalled, Excel is closing down and sometimes restarting again. Sometimes just closing down. After it has reopened automatic I can close without problems. The closing down also often happens upon opening a new Excel page when Excel is open. See attachment. I have complained to the company who did the reinstallation but the claim that it is a Microsoft probloem which has nothing to do with the reinstallation. I have reinstalled Office Enterprise 2007 with no effect. When the problem started I received a message from HP that it was due to selecting the Printer HP Photosmart C5180 as default. I have tried to make another printer default but it has no effect. The computer is a Lenovo Think Pad T-61.

May 3, 2009I was always able to click on the clip for an attachment to open in Word or Excel and it opened immediately, without having to save the attachment. All of a sudden, I can't do rhat. When I click on it, Word or Excel opens, but it tells me it can't find the file. If I click on save attachments, it does that to my documents and then I can open it up. I "repaired" Office 2007, in case there was any glitch that happened with that, but it didn't change the situation - What might have happened, and how can I fix it so that attachments can open directly when I click on the clip on the e-mail.

When I export a file from a website to an Excel spreadsheet where I am using a Windows 2000 platform, it is saved as an Excel file. However, when I export this same file from the same website on a Vista platform, it gets saved as a CSV file. (I don't have the option of specifying the file format at the website. The website does ask if one wants to save the file to Excel.) I am using Office 2000. What is the method for converting the CSV file to an Excel format?
