I have Vista Ultimate 32bit and 8800GTS video card. I am having problems playing Rainbow six Vegas. My q. is if the game needs the update to play properly on Vista. I am asking that cause when i cancel the update the game crashes. The game installed OK though.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI installed the game earlier and then got a dll error when I tried to start the game so I did a quick search of the net and found a fix (install latest DirectX 9, it runs longside DirectX 9) The game then started, in the main menu I noticed some white flickering and when I started the actual game there was just major graphical corruption everywhere, it was unplayable. I am using the 174 nvidia drivers, here are my specs:-.... I just can't figure it out. Has anybody else got this game running fine on Vista Ultimate 64?.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am updating my computer and I thought it was finish but my computer restarts and I encountered the death blue screen. I can't switch into safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with Command Prompt and Last Known good configuration. I don't know how to solve this problem because I can't get into any of the modes and even I inserted the installation disc I can't still see any repair computer or what. It will just turn to blank screen with space at the upper left after if i will insert the installation disc.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have had this computer up for 30 days at a time but when my sister comes to visit I turn on the guest account and log out of my identity and let the computer sit at the choice between my account and guest is and I can't get through a night without Vista Home Prem. crashing. I have SP1 installed and besides this problem I have not had problems like this. Why would enabling the guest account cause crashes? Is because I have programs running in my profile and that causes a conflict? This is frustrating as you can imagine. I looked at events and at 10:30 there was a faulting application: LVPrcSrv.exe faulting module USER32.dll. Then at 12:02 the previous shut down was unexpected. There is 1.5 hours between the fault and the message about unexpected shutdown?

What I saw after the post was a trouble screen that told me I had a problem. At the top it said there was a problem that may have been caused by either new hardware or software recently installed. It said I should select from the menu below to fix the trouble.

View 4 Replies View RelatedMy laptop is doing so weird and wild stuff, and I'd much rather take care of this problem myself (with the help of the internet, of course) than take it to a rotund egghead who will probably press three buttons, fix it completely, and charge me five hundred dollars. So here's the deal: First, when I was to click on, say, a Picture folder, the folder will load up but all the thumbnailed images of all my pictures will be the same stock Windows image. Like, I can't preview any of my pictures by looking at their thumbnails anymore. So that was a problem, and it's still a problem. Haven't fixed that one. Now recently, when I want to open a program, say Itunes or Firefox, instead of doing exactly that, it takes me to a Windows 'Open With' subscreen and asks me with WHICH program I'd like to open....the program I'd like to open. It's maddening.
My Macafee isn't opening any more. I just did a Dell System Update last night but it said it didn't find anything. I ran an Ad-Aware that didn't find anything. And to top it all off, for some reason my computer simply cannot check for new Windows Updates.I have no idea what's going on. Oh and if it matters my keyboard is all wonky. Not that that's an issue anybody here can help me with but I thought I'd mention it. My laptop is only a year or so old so I'm not sure why it's having all these issues. Oh and I don't know what kind of Vista I have. 32? 64? How do I find that out? heart and soul for any assistance anyone can give.
Had an incomplete install of a program...computer otherwise working fine...did a system restore to try to go back to preinstall...in the system restore shutdown and restart, now hung up in a update configuation loop that is in third step up to 99% that shuts down only to do the same thing over and over again. So my system never gets to the mainscreen acknowledging system was restored.
I tried F8 going to safe mode, but configuation step 3 takes over again, goes to 99% and shuts down to restart.
I tried the vista 64 sp1 disc...cannot acccess another restore point since it says the system is already in restore mode....just never gets there with the endless 3rd step update configuration loop.
The disc also does not offer the repair/update mode as an option...only full install.
I do have norton ghost 14 on the system...so there is a complete backup file on another internal drive...but no way to get to it to initiate a recovery ...
I can not get the pdf print driver to work in Adobe Acrobat. Adobe says it will work with ms hotfix kb930627 applied and Adobe update 8.1 applied. I have downloaded the adobe update and installed. When I download the ms hotfix kb930627 it says the update does not apply to your system. I am running vista home premium service pack 1 64 bit os.
View 5 Replies View Relatedi was just installing some extra languages on the ultimate extra update, i just selected all the updates to download as i was in a rush go leave home, it came up to about 5gb, it wasnt a problem because i was going out for about 4 hours. i came back home, download was complete and was installing the language packs, at first i thought it was stuck because computer started to run extra sluggish, but just as i was about to restart computer the bar moved, so i just waited, just doing some browsing etc on this forum, researching and getting tips and tricks etc., despite the fact that it was still running slow..i checked the cpu usage, the cpu was fine, but with suprise, the ram was running about 1.9gb ( i have 2gb ram). first of all, is the language pack suppose to take that long to install? and is it suppose to use that much of the ram?

I used system restore to restore to a point before I installed the updates. My computer worked fine. Thinking it hadn't been the updates that had caused the problem, I updated again but with the same results. This has also happned on other computers of mine. Ever since then, I have never installed a single update. I am wondering if this is a good idea or not.

I am having a problems installing the KB935509 update on a Vista Enterprise system. Windows Updater is always unsuccessful - I have tried many times. I have even downloaded KB935509 & installed manually -it says successful but if I look under Control Panel/Installed Updates it is not listed there and Windows Updater keeps coming back with a request to install. This is very frustrating - I keep going around in circles. I understanding that I will need this update to load Vista SP1 when available. When I try to manually check for Windows Updates I get the message that I need to "first install an update for Windows Update". When I try to install that update for Windows Update, I get error code 80070643. There is a lot written about Windows Update error 80070643 having specifically to do with restarting the Office Source Engine for Microsoft Office 2003. HOWEVER, I do not have Microsoft Office 2003 installed on my system and this is not my issue! I had update 7 running, and got an update notification for Release 10 earlier today. Downloaded and installed the update, tried the Java test page, Firefox (both 3.0.3 and today's Minefield beta-test for Firefox 3.1) hung. Tried the update in IE7, that, too, hung.
Went to Control Panel, clicked on the Java icon, had some problems opening it; when it did finally open, I went into Advanced and found that Update 10 was not recognizing IE. Opened IE, redownloaded the off-line update, to see if that worked; answer is, no, it still did not recognize IE. Back to Java, found the off-line installed for Update 7, removed 10, reinstalled 7; Java works once again. In the midst of this aggravation, trying to figure out what the problem was, I did find one link to an article that said Update 10 had been delayed due to some unspecified problem. Seems to me that, at least for Vista Home Premium, there is still at least one unspecified problem with Update 10.

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe last time an update was installed was in January..since the next time i was offered an update, Windows Update or any of the programs that use windows update fail to update. Also i can't download the updates manually..standalone msu installers also dont work.. windows defender, IE8 installations also fail to update. And unfortunately i have deleted the recent system restore checkpoints before i knew about this problem. Windows Update gives error 80070002, i have tried the "solution" to delete temp update files, and all other solutions i could find on the internet. Windows defender gives the same error.
The updates can be downloaded from windows update, but cannot be download (not even manually in .msu package) I also lost many shortcut files of MS Office (the icon turned white and they lost their target). Some shortcuts of 3rd party programs are also lost (which were supposed to be in c:windowsinstallerlabla I have Windows Vista Home Basic with SP1 (SP1 came with the ssytem when i bought it). I am using windows vista ultimate x64, and in random times when i am playing some games like worldd of warcraft, oblivion, PES 2009 etc. the computer freezes and the screen becomes full of squares of the last image i saw before the computer crashed (like: if i was casting a spell in world of warcraft i would see that very screen but with little squares, can't really describe it as it's weird). I tried re-installing video drivers and i made sure they are for x64 vista version. My computer spec is:

I'm new to this forum, but I already some topics that are of some interest to me. I tried to find a solution for my problem, but I couldn't find any... I try to play Warcraft III and Fifa 09 and they bouth crash...Fifa verry fast and Warcraft in 10-15 minutes. The problem is identical - my computer freezes and some pixels go bannanas....i have the latest graphic card driver, recently installed latest DirectX and still no sollution...
