I can not get the pdf print driver to work in Adobe Acrobat. Adobe says it will work with ms hotfix kb930627 applied and Adobe update 8.1 applied. I have downloaded the adobe update and installed. When I download the ms hotfix kb930627 it says the update does not apply to your system. I am running vista home premium service pack 1 64 bit os.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I downloaded the Windows Easy Transfer utility for a 32 bit version of Windows Vista (Windows6.0-KB928635-x86) for file transfers to Windows 7 it will not install. I receive an error message that says, "The update does not apply to your system." But my system is a 32 bit version of Vista. I am trying to get prepared for my Windows 7 version that will arrive in October. Does anyone have any idea why I would be getting this error message?

I am currently having problems resizing pdf files when viewing them in acrobat reader 8.0. Basically, the window will resize, but the content that I have opened will not. I am using windows vista ultimate x64.I have installed the reader normally, and I have also tried installing it under xp service pack 2 compatibility as an administrator. Additionally, I have tried running the reader in normal compatibility mode and xp sp2 compatibility as an administrator. I have also tried the foxit reader 2.0, which resizes the content, but seems to require a lot of cpu to do so and doesn't display the content as clearly as adobe's reader.Any workarounds, or other pdf reader recommendations?

One from C:ProgramDataAdobe (where ProgramData is hidden) and on C:Program FilesCommon FilesAdobe. The problem is, at startup, when I right-click on any file, folder or the like, Windows Installer keeps on opening to install Adobe Acrobat 9. I still have the Adobe Drive CS4 on the context menu even it is already uninstalled together with Adobe AIR. I tried everything I saw on this forum. But still, NONE worked. It (the files) won't allow me to change the permission settings given that I am the ONLY user.
View 7 Replies View RelatedOf all the programs I use in Vista, Adobe Acrobat Pro is the one that performs the worst. Frequently while editing a file the application window goes into the "twilight zone" with the entire appliction window becoming fuzzy and unresponsive sometimes for as long as 30 seconds. It does not completely hang, and eventually responds. This happens on at least 3 different machines. All have Quad Cores and with 4GB of memory and are otherwise very responsive machines. Is there an explantion for why Acrobat does this in Vista?

it was running a tad strangly but still running (not noticing the the computer name had been changed and various other items)..
then i was doing a normal update of adobe pdf reader and the install crashed. after that the microsoft installer wont work, i cant boot my computer normally altho it does open in safe mode - however, the windows installer wont work - even in safe mode.
when i try to boot it normally it seems to start fine but hangs once the desktop appears.....
i have tried repairing the startup process via the vista repair disc.
i have tried restoring back to a previous restore point
nothing so far has worked.
after doing the above i cant even start my computer normally (altho i can boot in safe) it seems to begin the process then the screen just goes black altho the disk light is still on....
i am now just about to reinstall my entire system but i would rather not have to do this....
is there anything else i can try? i have a time sensitive deadline that needs to be reached (of course) so i cant play around with this for too long.
I need to download an Adobe Flash Player update. In the upper left corner a dialogue box opens up and asks me if I want to save the file. I click on save and that is the last I see of it. The dialogue box closes and I have no idea where the file is being saved to. I have used the search function and it always comes back that it cannot find the file I requested. Worse yet, Vista does not give me a choice as to where I want the file saved. I have drive C: drive D: on the primary HD. I have a drive G: on an external drive. I never had these type of problems when running XP Home on my previous computer. I have myself set up as administrator to try to avoid some of the roadblocks that Vista puts up.

I ask because when I go into Programs and Features, neither of these are there. I do have an Adobe Flash Player 10 ActiveX and an Adobe AIR (whatever that is). I also now have an Adobe Download Manager which came when I downloaded the subject two programs. NOTE: The Flash Player shows as a plugin on Firefox
ALSO: The site told me to uninstall the older versions of these two programs prior to installing the new, but I don't have an older version of either. This came about because I was having a problem with a game that worked until after I installed the latest NVIDIA driver. The game manufacturer told me to install both of these as a measure to correct the issue. It didn't correct it BTW. Other games still work fine.
Trying to install Adobe reader on my Vista Home Premium (SP-2) system, I encountered numerous "privilege" problems. UAC is disabled, I R-Clicked on the installer and selected "Run as Administrator". The installation was interrupted numerous times, saying the installer lacked privileges to write to various different folders, mostly under the Program Data folder, and also in the Start Menu folder. On each occasion, I had to open Explorer, R-Click on the folder in question, and "Take Ownership" of it. I am the sole user of this system, so if I don't own the folders, who the hell does? My account is an administrator account.
This turned what should have been an uneventful 15 minute long procedure into an hour long hassle. Is there ANY way to get rid of this ownership nonsense so I don't have to go through this every time I install something? I thought disabling UAC was supposed to solve this problem. Unlike many, I'm not a real Vista basher, but this privilege/ownership business just has to go if you ask me.
i have vista 32 ultimate and i have a problem with the apply in startup and recovery under advanced tab as u see in the picture i want to change the setting in the dump and restart but i cant the apply is in gray when i press ok its stay the same .

I have Windows Vista with Windows Mail. When I click on Tools, a windows comes up and shows several tabs. I have gone to the Send tab to uncheck a couple of things I do not want operating. I notice that the window is quite large and I cannot see APPLY and OKAY. Consequently, I cannot have any of the options that I chose unchecked. Once I move out of the Options window, everything goes back the way it was. I thought I could minimize the size of the Options window, but no go on that. how I can get to Apply and Okay on this window?

If I open a folder with pictures or videos in it, in details view, it shows a column called Ratings which has 5 blank stars in it. This seems like a great way to rate photos and movie clips so I can search for favorites. However, I can't seem to figure out any way to APPLY ratings to photos or movie clips using those stars. What's the deal? Is there a way to indeed apply ratings to pictures and movies using those stars, or ??? why are they there??

The popup says "Installing Acrobat setup files" with a small computer icon to the left and a cancel button down bottom. Also there is a blue status bar in the middle of the popup. Usually i just cancel the popup, but if i let it run the popup starts to install some kind of acrobat files. When done it asks to reboot.

What I saw after the post was a trouble screen that told me I had a problem. At the top it said there was a problem that may have been caused by either new hardware or software recently installed. View 4 Replies View RelatedMy laptop is doing so weird and wild stuff, and I'd much rather take care of this problem myself (with the help of the internet, of course) than take it to a rotund egghead who will probably press three buttons, fix it completely, and charge me five hundred dollars. So here's the deal: First, when I was to click on, say, a Picture folder, the folder will load up but all the thumbnailed images of all my pictures will be the same stock Windows image. Like, I can't preview any of my pictures by looking at their thumbnails anymore. So that was a problem, and it's still a problem. Haven't fixed that one. Now recently, when I want to open a program, say Itunes or Firefox, instead of doing exactly that, it takes me to a Windows 'Open With' subscreen and asks me with WHICH program I'd like to open....the program I'd like to open. It's maddening.
My Macafee isn't opening any more. I just did a Dell System Update last night but it said it didn't find anything. I ran an Ad-Aware that didn't find anything. And to top it all off, for some reason my computer simply cannot check for new Windows Updates.I have no idea what's going on. Oh and if it matters my keyboard is all wonky. Not that that's an issue anybody here can help me with but I thought I'd mention it. My laptop is only a year or so old so I'm not sure why it's having all these issues. Oh and I don't know what kind of Vista I have. 32? 64? How do I find that out? heart and soul for any assistance anyone can give.
Had an incomplete install of a program...computer otherwise working fine...did a system restore to try to go back to preinstall...in the system restore shutdown and restart, now hung up in a update configuation loop that is in third step up to 99% that shuts down only to do the same thing over and over again. So my system never gets to the mainscreen acknowledging system was restored.
I tried F8 going to safe mode, but configuation step 3 takes over again, goes to 99% and shuts down to restart.
I tried the vista 64 sp1 disc...cannot acccess another restore point since it says the system is already in restore mode....just never gets there with the endless 3rd step update configuration loop.
The disc also does not offer the repair/update mode as an option...only full install.
I do have norton ghost 14 on the system...so there is a complete backup file on another internal drive...but no way to get to it to initiate a recovery ...
i was just installing some extra languages on the ultimate extra update, i just selected all the updates to download as i was in a rush go leave home, it came up to about 5gb, it wasnt a problem because i was going out for about 4 hours. i came back home, download was complete and was installing the language packs, at first i thought it was stuck because computer started to run extra sluggish, but just as i was about to restart computer the bar moved, so i just waited, just doing some browsing etc on this forum, researching and getting tips and tricks etc., despite the fact that it was still running slow..i checked the cpu usage, the cpu was fine, but with suprise, the ram was running about 1.9gb ( i have 2gb ram). first of all, is the language pack suppose to take that long to install? and is it suppose to use that much of the ram?
